Well, I just desoldered an IC on a Pac-man cart, removed it, and then resoldered it back in. Guess what happened? It worked!!! I'm finally getting a handle on this thing. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be good enough to install the 7800 s-video upgrade. It's funny how much of soldering is technique. I've read a lot on how to solder the right way but some of it you just have to learn by doing. As you can see I still need practise but the important thing is that it worked. It took me a bit to figure out that the tip of the tip just doesn't get hot enough so you have to use the side of the tip. Allan

I just picked one of these up and gave it a try. It actually works really well. I was able to remove an IC on my 7800 (guess which one ) within about 5 minutes. I defintely recommend it. The best part is it's price. Allan
