atari 2600 siting on "three's company" episode!
brett6400 replied to brett6400's topic in Atari 2600
Wow! That's great you even have a screen shot. BTW, sorry for the typo in the title "sitings" -
In the opening scene of the "Furley vs. Furley" episode of "Three's Company", which just aired on TV Land, Jack and Janet are playing Atari 2600! The console is clearly sitting on the coffeetable. They each have the iconic 2600 joystick. They are playing some footbal sports game, maybe fictious? Talk about double memory flashback... Atari and Three's Company!

i also found an 'rf modulator' at radio shack, although i'm not sure if it's bi-directional. well, maybe i can find an engineering friend to solder one up for me... thanks for the tip on the second vcr, bjk. that sounds easy enough.

yes, exactly. see, i knew i'd get a fast response on atariage. but $45 for it?? geez. maybe i'll stick with the old tv/console switch. any thoughts on this issue guys? what do atari agers use?

Hi everyone. I want to hook up my 2600 to my new TV. I know I could do it with the good old tv/console RF switch and RF adapter, but is there a hardware unit to use the video in plugs instead of the coaxial cable adapter?? thanks!

maybe sears has a warehouse full of tele-games systems...

haven't you been to walmart recently? in honor of the 30th anniversary of the atari 2600, all cartridge manufacturers are selling their MIB leftovers for $1.99 brand new vintage!!! better hurry!!! just kidding.... i wish it were true....
-
looks like the guy is selling off a huge collection of 2600 games...
-
LOL... i guess i deserve that one.

something similar happened to me... i got a MIB atari 2600 from a non-atari seller. she was selling a bunch of random junk from her basement. it even had original bubble wrap. i thought about requesting a specific type of shipping package. i thought it would be pretty obvious though--just wrap something around the original box. WELL, she finds another box and stuffs everything inside it. that was fine for the console, joysticks, etc. BUT THEN SHE FOLDS THE ORIGINAL BOX SEVERAL TIMES and stuffs it in the box. IT NOW HAS CREASE MARKS ALL OVER IT! oh well, at least a crease is better than priority mail tape and postage! brett6400

I just saw the Felicity tv show episode "Crash." One of the characters gets a playstation and spends lots of time playing video games instead of studying. When a girl asks him about it, he mentions early videogames--Atari with stick figure basketball, then Nintendo with Super Mario Bros.

how to handle non-paying high bidders on ebay?
brett6400 replied to brett6400's topic in Auction Central
yes, right now i believe you can only leave feedback when a transaction takes place. apparently in the early days of ebay, you could leave feedback for anyone for any reason. i thought you could only leave feedback for 30 days, but this quote from ebay doesn't help much i had planned to "snipe neg feedback" but who knows with this quote. the npb has 30ish feedback and all positive, so i don't know... -
how do sellers here handle non-paying high bidders on ebay? i know you can submit the form for a final value fee refund. BUT can't a bidder still leave you negative feedback even if he is the one to totally flake on the transaction?

looks like someone bought himself a shrink wrap machine...

"It took almost twenty years, but on July 3, 1999 for the first time ever, a perfect score of 3,333,360 was achieved on Pac-Man by Billy Mitchell at the Funspot Family Fun Center, Weirs Beach, New Hampshire. To achieve this, Billy had to eat every single bonus prize and every possible blue ghost in all 256 levels of the game - a feat which took him over six hours to complete. Not only that but he didn't lose a single life. It was the first ever perfect game of Pac-Man." http://jongy.tripod.com/History.html wow. that's amazing. btw, did you guys see the photo of the guy on that site? it looks like it's from the 1970s...

I found a great little game store!
brett6400 replied to Gunstar's topic in Classic Console Discussion
this store sounds like the dream fantasy of every vintage video game collector! omg. i have found a couple of stores that have smaller collections of atari stuff. the owner of one flea market store in rhode island said that an entire wall of 2600 cartridges (500+) about 5 years ago. wow! i picked up a complete 2600 system and 50 games for $40. maybe someday soon i'll find a dream store like gunstar's store. -

cleaned cartridge won't work...bum E-bay purchase!
brett6400 replied to paladoris's topic in Atari 2600
I seriously doubt you could have damaged the cartridge by cleaning it, unless you used a scouring pad or something like that. Look at the excellent Atariage guide to cleaning cartridges. http://www.atariage.com/howto/clean_cartridges.html Good luck.
