I found a great little game store!
brett6400 replied to Gunstar's topic in Classic Console Discussion
congrats! any contact info for the store? maybe they would ship to boston. -
cleaned cartridge won't work...bum E-bay purchase!
brett6400 replied to paladoris's topic in Atari 2600
did the listing say "cartridge tested and working" on the auction? contact the seller. he or she may have tested it before selling it. in any case, good sellers will offer refunds for non-working items. try not to jump to conclusions and leave negative feedback before contacting the seller to resolve the issue. hope everything works out for you. -
i don't remember when exactly i got my 2600, but i do remember losing it in a 1983 garage sale. we were moving to a new house and cleaning house. damn.

congrats on the find! i recently found a bunch of atari carts at a salvation army for $.99 each. nothing too special but the bunch did include towering inferno and, one of my favorites, river raid.

How much postage would it take to mail an Activision patch? My guess is 37 cents. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1381730357

Hi, I'm new and need help! Just got a 2600 in the mail....
brett6400 replied to colonialsquidboy's topic in Atari 2600
sometimes the rf switches don't work or provide a real fuzzy picture. you could buy a new one at radio shack or here http://www.atariage.com/store/Hardware.html (nice plug for atariage store, eh?) the atari 2600 itself might not work, but without another system to test you can't really easily determine that. -
Yes, at least this guy posted his HIGH shipping up front and clearly displayed. Bid on the item with the shipping in mind. If he would have NOT posted shipping on the 3 pack stylus, for example, and then emailed the $9.99 shipping, that would be very LAME.

(shameless self-promotion) boxed atari games for sale
brett6400 replied to brett6400's topic in Auction Central
thanks for the shipping info. perhaps some atariage people will bid (hint, hint). -
This is shameless self-promotion... but I have some boxed Atari 2600 games for sale on ebay. Starting bid $1.50. End tomorrow. Not very many bids yet. http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?...&sort=3&rows=25 Also, is my shipping cost driving off buyers? I have never sold individual boxed games before so I just slightly increased the cost of individual cartridge shipping. Oh, and by the way, the red atari background was from an auction on ebay germany. I emailed the seller (in German) and got permission to use it on ebay usa.

I grew up in a city but my cousin grew up on a farm. He had way more Atari 2600 cartridges than I. I think you're right StanJr.
-
yeah, i shouldn't be too hard on lock n' chase. once the succesful pac-man game was out. everyone followed. of course lots of games are similar. defender is a horizontal scrolling game and on atari you have chopper command etc. and there are gazillons of vertical shooting games with aliens coming down at you, based on space invaders. megamania, phoenix, etc etc

i went to a flea market on labor day weekend and totally scored: two complete atari 2600 systems with consoles, joysticks paddles, etc. one system had 50 games and the other had 20 games. i also picked up a 5200 with box, although it was missing some cables and joysticks. i also picked up a vic 20 with box and cables for $3. the lady threw in a trs-80 trash-80 console too! what else? oh yeah, my favority score of that weekend... a coleco telstar ranger console. it was part of one of the atari lots. this weekend i went there and zip, nada, zilch. half of the vendor slots were empty. i think flea market season must be coming to a close.

i just played lock n chase for the first time and it is such a pac-man rip-off. it even has the "bonus fruits" at the center of the screen.
-
yeah. the seller really doesn't understand ebay pricing if he set both the opening bid at $120 and the buy-it-now price at $120. that doesn't make much sense.

see this recent thread... http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12257

wow! i looked at the pong history sites. there really are dozens of different games for each manufacturer. that is quite a goal to collect them. i think collecting them will make a nice addition to collecting atari!
-
lol, that's so funny. plus he will add a cardboard box around the protective cartridge with "ET" and ET image clearly labeled. an extra sheet or two of with "ET instructions" will be included to ultimately protect the RARE ET PROTOTYPE EPROM. lol.
-
christian, do you know any good sites for early coleco, intellivision, odyssey, etc. stuff? in another post i described a coleco telstar ranger that i picked up with some 2600 stuff. i think i want to start collecting these types of consoles.

Guess what what i found out is only a drive away!
brett6400 replied to Atari freak 1's topic in Atari 2600
their homepage graphic has a screenshot of the atari 2600 game pacman. lol. 2600 pacman was such a bad port. they should have used adventure or combat or riverraid... -
send those bidders to my auctions please...
-
that is so, so, so funny! of course you aren't trying to give atariage any ideas....

way too detailed, but.... variations in simulated woodgrain?
brett6400 replied to brett6400's topic in Atari 2600
WOOHOO!! I just discovered a new variation of Atari 2600s to collect!!!! -
i saw this exact same puzzle at a flea market today. i was tempted to buy it for $5 i think. it had all the puzzle pieces and the box but it was missing the "eyeball stickers". the same seller had a pacman bubble gum dispenser and a rubber bounce ball with a pacman on it.

how to fix jittery paddles and stuck joysticks?
brett6400 replied to brett6400's topic in Atari 2600
okay, this is a dumb question.... but what is a pot? will it be obvious when i open up a paddle? can someone describe it or upload a photo? thanks -
i haven't really checked, but does the simulated woodgrain on the 2600 have variations? if so, does anyone collect the variations?
