For reference ... From BEST Website: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/130xe.htm#TT "65XE / 130XE Mitsumi(56-3217, part number on Mylar) made XE Keyboard, single layer Mylar. This Best Electronics Manufactured replacement Keyboard Mylar is an Improved version over the stock Atari keyboard Mylar! Each Best replacement Mylar has a thin dielectric Protective coating over the complete Mylar except the conductive key contact pads. This conductive coating gives your replacement Best Mylar the Best Resistance to flexure cracks on Silk screened traces and prevents internal keyboard Mylar supports from wearing or rubbing away traces. Its also prevents tiny objects that drop thru the Keyboard from wearing or shorting out keyboard traces. This replacement Mylar also has 1/4 inch longer extended Traces on the connector side of the Mylar so they can be trimmed back if required. One way you can tell if you have a Mitsumi version XE keyboard is to pull off one key cap. It is best to pry off a key cap using two small straight blade screw drivers, one a 12 and 6 O’ clock positions. The Mitsumi XE keyboard will have a spring under each key cap." $22.00 http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/1200XL%20keyboard%20Mylar.htm "The New Best Upgraded Lifetime Atari 1200XL Keyboard Mylar CB103156 $39.95"

Coleco strong-arming homebrew publishers and fan sites
Bill Lange replied to TPR's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Ben Heck has already stated that coleco/rwb connected him in 2008 about licensing the handheld he created in 2005 retroactively. They had a "license deal". Benjamin Heckendorn said... Was sent a link to this article. Can offer a bit of information. I built my one-off Coleco portable in December 2005. You can see my archived page here: https://web.archive.org/web/20051231232605/http://benheck.com:80/ In March 2008 River West Brands contacted me about "authorizing my use of their trademark". Basically coming to an agreement (posthumously) that it was OK that I used the logo a few years prior. I also gave them the files of my re-created Colecovision logo. So yes they authorized my use of the logo, but over 2 years after I built a one-off item. June 7, 2017 at 2:56 PM -
You should ping http://edladdin.com/about this project. I think they are planning an Atari 5200 replacement controller and will probably need overlays of some sort.

I have it hooked up using an ATARI 800XL, an ATARI 850 Interface Module, a modem cable, Bobterm 1.21 with the 850 Interface Module driver, SIO2USB and ASPEQT. It works like a charm. Basically plug everything in, set the BAUD rate, the wireless network id, the wireless network password and enter the internet address you want to connect to. It is really easy.

Did we ever have a dissasembly of Bounty Bob? Source Code?

I converted the C64 .7z package to a .zip package and archived it on archive.org. -
Again, not a podcast, but Michael Packard goes into more detail about his new 6502 assembly language Alien Downpour for the Apple II in this Facebook group: Apple Graphics and Arcade Game Design Enthusiasts.
-
Not Atari, and not a podcast, but Michael Packard often writes about his new 6502 assembly language Alien Downpour for the Apple II in the Apple II Enthusiasts group on Facebook. John Romero (of Doom fame) just started another Facebook group title Assembly Lines: The Book discussing the popular Apple II 6502 program book. Bill

Technically, it wasn't an ad. I just forced it a little to fit my narrative. Before anyone starts claiming "FAKE NEWS", the other way to look at it, is that everything in The Atari Connection magazine is an Atari ad! Bill

I've been slacking off on posting here, for about a year, incorrectly assuming most people are on FB as well. Any who, I posted a blog post on the ill-fated Atari CX70 Light Pen today. Enjoy, Bill

I'm not an audiophile, but I like the music. It has a synthesized Old West Fist Full Of Dollars sound to it.

Changing my settings seemed to have cleared up the screen glitch after a shootout, but I still see the horizontal bars after the title screen for a few seconds. Maybe it needed more than 64K or one of the other "attached" devices was causing an issue. The game got more interesting once I figured out that the people were pointing out which way to go rather than pointing to shoot me. I kept killing all of the "pointers"! Bill

I am using the .ATR file on Altirra x64 2.81, 65XE/130XE, 64K (800XL/1200XL), NTSC I also have some virtual devices attached [ Printer (P:), Host device (H:), 850 Interface Module, XEP80 ]. Note that the screen is also little glitchy after the title screen but before the option screen for three to four seconds. I'm going to remove the virtual devices and increase the memory to 128K to see if that helps. Bill

After my first shootout, the screen gets messed up. Running Altirra 2.81. NTSC. Bill

Amoeba: newly discovered proto software

What memory location are you putting it at? I used 38 and it crashed, but it worked at 40. Bill -
Jamie, it was great meeting you on Sunday at Vintage Computer Festival East and thanks for signing my book. I had to keep an eye on it so people didn't think it was a free give away! I think I 'sold' about a dozen copies ... after chatting about it, people were taking pictures of it to purchase it later. I can confirm one sale when Boisey P one-click purchased it from Amazon on his iPad right in front of us! Bill

Mini Saga: Restoring my Childhood 800XL
Bill Lange replied to TangentAudio's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Love this! I destroyed my original 810 case by installing a "Write Protect Override Switch" and a "Write A Bad Sector Switch". I removed the keyboard overlay from my original 400 to cut out the individual characters to put on a full struck keyboard that I wired up. I also installed a "Speaker Shut Off Switch" for the internal speaker for those late night programming marathons. -
Connecting to a BBS Without a Phone Line?
Bill Lange replied to Tempest's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
No, I don't have one ... yet. Looks like time for another order with Best Electronics. I'll work on it and let you know. I guess a lot of us grew up in the 80's! -
Connecting to a BBS Without a Phone Line?
Bill Lange replied to Tempest's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
While I was able to connect to a BBS, it was an 80 column wide ANSI graphics BBS that wanted way too much personal information for me to get past the new user login process ... but successful all the same. Next up, I'm going to fire up an 850 with a Hayes modem to see if that is working too. Bill -
Connecting to a BBS Without a Phone Line?
Bill Lange replied to Tempest's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Yep ... this is step #1. I set up a 130XE, 1050 and a XM301. I just copied XE_TERM to an actually 5 1/4 to see if I can dial out ... Then I'll try the new school telnet route
