  1. I was in Toms River over Thanksgiving weekend. One night, Fri or Sat we were hanging out at the Sawmill at the south end of the boardwalk. Three of us walked over to the Carousel building to play some of those oldies ... alas, everything on the boardwalk was closed at that hour in Nov ... next time. Bill
  2. Does anyone have the "Complete Products Guide" add-in to Universe? Bill
  3. I added the manual for Asteroids today. I also added 2300+ screen shots. http://www.langesite.com/atari Bill
  4. That newer manual is written by Steven Englehart. His website is here: http://www.steveenglehart.com/Games/Easter...ont%201941.html The older ones where written by Chris Crawford himself, so they are a little more interesting. Of course the map from the newer manual is much better. Bill
  5. I added three Crystal Software/Crystalware manual scans: Sands Of Mars World War III Quest For Power Also, my copy of APX Eastern Front 1941 is a rougher earlier version then you have on your site. Graphics are done by hand. Also a handwritten note by Chris's wife ... interesting. Feel free to copy the images for your database. Bill
  6. I've posted a few manuals on my website. Including the original APX Eastern Front 1941 manual. Kevin should be moving this one over to AtariArchives soon. I have a few more that will be going up soon. You can find them here: http://www.langesite.com/Atari/ Bill
  7. I've tried Universe v.1.1 from the Holmes cd collection and Universe v.1.2 from atarimania and as stated above neither work with multiple drives under Atari800WinPlus. Does anyone have the disk images for Universe v.1.3 or later for the Atari? Thanks Bill
  8. A Miami resident has bought a virtual space station for $100,000 and wants to turn it into a cross between Jurassic Park and a disco. http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/biztech/11/10...e.ap/index.html This stuff never stops amazing me. WRL
  9. I tried both the version in the Holmes collection and the version at Atarimania. The Holmes collection version doesn't seem to support two drives. The version at Atarimania does seem to support two drives, but when I try to create a player disk, the format always fails. Bill
  10. Has anyone gotten Universe to work under Atari800WinPLus using multiple disk drives? I can't seem to get it to use two drives. And these game is a pain in the ass with just one drive. Thanks Bill
  11. Does anyone have a copy of the manual for Eastern House Monkey Wrench? I was able to figure out some of the commands by using a review in an online copy of Antic. Thanks Bill
  12. The .atr format is an Atari disk image. You can use them directly in an Atari emulator. Not exaclty sure how to burn the disk image to a real floppy for use in a real Atari 8-bit. Bill

  16. What do you guys think of Nolan Bushnell's new venture: uWink Media Bistro? Looks kind of like Chuck E Cheeze for adults. Think it will work in this day and age? Bill
  17. When I was young, growing up in Jersey, my father used to give me a couple of bucks to ride my bike to the 7-11 to get him a pack of smokes. From the late 70's to the mid 80's the 7/11 always had one or two machines. I can remember them having Space Invaders, Asteroids, Defender and Donkey Kong at one time or another. Next door at the Cumberland Farms, they had Centipede. Next to the Cumberland Farms there was a pizza place that always had a cocktail machine, though I don't recall what game it was. Also walking distance from my house was the Ocean County Mall. They had "The Game Room". Another one of those dark arcades lined with pinballs and arcade machines. When I got a little older, 13 to 18, I spent alot of time in Seaside Heights. They had/have a mile or two long boardwark full of arcade machines. The arcades are still there, but alas, most of the classic games are gone. Bill
  18. Atari gets a couple of mentions in this article: Attack of the Gaming Grannies Bill
  19. No, sorry. This server is running at home through my cable modem. If I put up a 1+ gigabyte zip file, it will use up all of my available bandwidth each time someone starts to download it. Bill
  20. I have finally gotten around to putting the complete 3 cd set of 8-bit Atari disks that Holmes put together online. http://www.langesite.com/Atari/ Bill
  21. I've been working on my website and moved the Atari lister slightly. It is now here. http://www.langesite.com/Atari/ Still working on the de-tokenizer ... actually I should say I still have more work to do on the de-tokenizer. Bill
  22. Just out of curiosity, are you basing this on numerical stats or just because you have done it? In my masters program at the university of Denver, most of the students had full time careers. I don't have stats, but in most cities there is a whole industry based on educating working adults. Here is a qoute from the University Of Phoenix website: The Leading University for Working Professionals. University of Phoenix is helping thousands of professional adults advance their careers with degree programs that are always relevant, taught by distinguished practicing faculty, and designed for busy schedules like your own. Bill
  23. Actually this is quite common: I worked full time at AT&T Bell Labs, Lucent and Avaya, while completing my BS degree and during my entire MS degree. My wife is works full time at Avaya and is going to class five nights a week. Bill
  24. Why dont you send them to AtariAge so that they can be scanned and added to the 8-bit section? Bill
