  1. There seems to be in New Hampshire for some reason. Just about every single damn game store has been sold out since launch.
  2. It'll be interesting to see how Apple fairs with a console system. I've always liked MAC computers, and I am a fan of the IPOD, so I'd be willing to give this new system a try (if it ever surfaces). Apple's relationship with Sega could also be a good sign... but please, Apple, don't place Sega at the helm of marketing! They're great at developing games but lousy at marketing hardware. People felt shafted after Sega ditched the Saturn, so naturally the Dreamcast suffered despite being the better machine. Most gamers jumped ship and moved on to the Playstation 2 just to spite Sega. The poor Saturn wasn't even 3 years old and it was pushing up daisies. The Dreamcast later fell to the same fate, proving that if you screw your user base one too many times, you'll get screwed yourself.
  3. If you're a Mario fan like me you've probably been looking around for Mario Kart for the WII and noticed it's almost impossible to find. Well, if you live in New Hampshire, visit Best Buy in Concord, NH. The wife and I went there tonight and were pleasantly surprised to see 7 copies for sale. We picked one up (we've been after one since launch) so there's 6 left as of right now 9:06pm EST. I wanted to share this good news with my fellow gamers! It sure beats trying to buy one off Fleebay; the last Mario Kart for Wii on EBay ended at $100 which is absolutely ridiculous!
  4. I find his comment about the extra storage to be self-defeating to say the least. Here you have Nintendo with all these new Wiiware titles (not including VC games) and they're poking fun at people who want to spend money, download, and somehow store the games? Am I missing something here or does it sound like Nintendo needs smarter people at the helm? Nintendo could patch the SD card slot in under a month and solve the problem. Nintendo may not make money off SD card sales but it would even out with online orders.
  5. OH MAN! I can't believe this but it appears I sold a glitched DS game! The AX just PM'd me and it's freezing up, I've never had that happen on any DS game. Anyway, I wanted to publicly admit my problem because I have never had anything like this while selling or buying on AA. Of course, I have PM'd him back and am going to resolve the problem however he would like to do it. It happens! The AX seems like a cool guy so I'm sure he will be willing to work things out with you.
  6. I hate Gamestop! Their used games are overpriced, they hire lazy teenage morons to run their stores, and they try to sell last copies as new even though they are open. I never had any problems returning merchandise to any of the Gamestop locations here in New Hampshire, but there is a first time for everything I suppose. Seriously, I would contact Gamestop corporate and bitch until you're blue in the face. I had a friend complain to Gamestop corporate for being mistreated by a Gamestop employee a few years back. Apparently the Gamestop employee picked on him for some game choice he made, embarrassing the hell out of him in front of other shoppers. After his phone call, the employee in question disappeared from the store and Gamestop Corporate mailed him a $50 gift card. Hell, call them -- it might pay off!
  7. The search for the Jaguar has ended! Thank you to all who replied. Now I am in need of some games and accessories.! I'm in need of an A/C cable, extra joypads, and some games! Please PM your offers! The items don't have to be minty, minty fresh.
  8. I would like to add that I am not looking to collect the system, I am looking to play it! The system doesn't have to include the box or instructions. I am looking to spend $40-60 for just the system, 1 joypad, and a/v cables. I am willing to pay between $10-$15 for each (without box).
  9. Help a fellow Atarian out! I've been searching for a working Jaguar system with or without games. Also, A/V cables would be a plus! Will pay for actual shipping… PM me!
  10. Conan looks impressive! The graphic style reminds me of the AD&D series by Capcom. Thea Realm Fighters looks really good too! Conan (Jaguar) Thea Realm Fighters (Jaguar)
  11. I was searching the internet for Jaguar related material and came across this website: Lost Jaguar Protos Maybe this site is known by most people here but I decided to post it anyway. Interestingly enough, there is 3 pages (with photos) of lost Jaguar protos. Some of them look good!
  12. As punishment tell your kids they can't play the Wii for a week! Nice one on the piggy bank story.
  13. Valid point. I think Microsoft exagerates this a bit with their usual Fear/Uncertainly/Doubt tactic. The average Wii owner has about five games per console. MS sometimes likes to use the soundbyte "everyone is still playing Wii fit and doesn't buy anything else" in the press. It's not really that dire, persay. Almost 150 million Wii games have been sold as of March 31st. According to Wikipedia (take with a grain of salt though this is fairly well sourced), you are correct that first party titles dominate though there are a few more listed here that have sold over 1 million units than EGM thinks. If Wikipedia is to be believe, 14 of 22 million plus sellers are 1st party. Then again, that article may have gone to print two months ago as well. Nintendo Games Wii Sports (21.56 million)[73] Wii Play (11.51 million)[73] Super Mario Galaxy (6.1 million)[73] Mario Party 8 (4.86 million)[73] Super Smash Bros. Brawl (4.85 million)[73] The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (4.52 million)[73] Mario Kart Wii (2.437 million approximately: 1.317 million in Japan,[75] 1.12 million in US)[25] Super Paper Mario (2.28 million)[73] Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (2.26 million)[73] Wii Fit (2.11 million in Japan)[75] WarioWare: Smooth Moves (1.82 million)[77] Mario Strikers Charged (1.77 million)[73] Link's Crossbow Training (1.71 million)[73] Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (1.31 million)[73] Third Party Million Sellers Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (3.4 million)[74] Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (2 million)[76] Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (1.25 million)[32] Carnival Games (1.2 million)[74][28] Rayman Raving Rabbids (1.2 million)[74] Sonic and the Secret Rings (1.2 million)[74] Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (1.05 million)[32] Red Steel (1 million)[74] Now, if Wikipedia is also to be believed, there are far fewer on the PS3 (seven 1-million plus sellers) and slightly fewer on the XBox 360 (28 million plus sellers) which is more than the original XBox, despite a smaller overall userbase. Details are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-...ing_video_games One anecdote though ... only a tiny portion of games released are "million sellers" and I'm not sure judging a system on the number of million sellers it has is a great picture. It would be cool to compare unit sales sides of particular titles on each platform for a good picture. As I've posted before though, I think third parties do have a challenge in that Nintendo themselves has a really, really strong in-house team and strong brands compared to Microsoft and Sony. In addition, there's the other issue of ... frankly ... some developers just "phoning it in". They haven't found good use of the remote (they often try to tack it on), haven't released good games and haven't exactly pushed the system either. I do believe good games on the Wii will sell, regardless of who makes them. But we need "good games" first. The first-party titles dominate because real Nintendo gamers / fans were buying these titles. That's pretty much it; the other game titles are being ignored by the bigger WII userbase (i.e. the non-gamers), and the real videogamers realize that the 3rd party titles are junk (well most of them anyway).
  14. The Wii's demographic is comprised of non-gamers who were dazzled by its wireless motion remote technology. These are the type of people who play WII bowling or use Wii Fitness; they have little-to-no interest in real games like Resident Evil. Thus, with a large demographic of non-gamers, game release sales look poor because most of these people didn’t purchase the WII to play real videogames. They'd rather sit in front of their Wii and play simple shovelware mini games that require no thought and little motor skills.
  15. I remember Dungeon Crawl! It's a great game!
  16. Good suggestion! I was wondering how I could keep the game fresh once someone completes it. I'm still working on dungeon design so more pictures will follow shortly! Thank you for compliments! The game looks great retrogeek. I am looking forward to playing this. I appreciate the praise! I've been busy working on the game and also tending to a bad back (ouch). I'm still around.. I've just been busy!

  18. You're not a party spoiler, I really appreciate the advice you're offering me. Your advice has already helped!
  19. Hi Christos, Halls will be turn-based (please read blog) so I am not too concerned. The turn-based fighting takes place on a static background with 1-3 sprites so there is very little memory being used. Each adventure screen is static and doesn't actually scroll (you walk to the exit on one end and it loads the next screen). Sorry for any confusion this may have caused. There's digitized sound but we're talking small files that loop and nothing more. Edit: Sprite handling is also set to a minimum since it’s targeting a stock 1040ST system. Who knows, maybe the game will need higher requirements as it develops; we shall see.
  20. Plus, I finally have the Dev blog ready (it can be found in my sig). Here's a link anyway: Halls of Zoor Dev Blog
  21. Hey Christos! Thank you for responding to the thread. The backgrounds are being drawn in Deluxe Paint and the sprites are being drawn using ST Sprite Factory. I hope to have a demo up soon. It's still early to tell how this will play out on the ST but I will keep everyone updated as the game moves along.
  22. Much appreciated! Keep your eye on the thread for future developments!
