  1. Being a fan of Strong Bad I look forward to this release: http://www.gametrailers.com/game/6632.html It looks good! Edit: This is the best video of the game so far: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/32713.html
  2. It looks like you posted this question one too many times. If you're looking to play ST games on your television then the best version to purchase is the 1040stfm. It has a built-in RF port, and there is also a homebrew cable being sold on EBay that allows composite video on the 1040STFM (i.e. like a video game system). I've been archiving web links on all things ST, so allow me to share this: 1040stfm
  3. I'm really gonna try to make the effort to stop in there this summer. I just did the mapquest thing, and the trip is about 140 miles oneway! Do you think he'd be interested in buying some ST stuff? I'm on the fence with my ST collection.... Buy more stuff for it or sell it all off!?!? -rick PS.... Is he open weekends???? If so can you post his hours? His hours are a bit awkward so hopefully I get this right: Mon & Wed 1pm-6pm Tues, Thurs, Fri 1pm-9pm He is open on Saturday but he takes Sundays off. I'm not sure if he would be interested in buying ST paraphernalia, but since he's an ST user himself, he just might bite! I am interested in ST software / equipment as well so drop me a line too if you ever decide to sell any of it!
  4. I am actually responsible for the entire project, including music, code, and graphics. I have a few friends who have been lending their expertise on 68000 programming so they are contributing to the project but in a different way. I am still in the process of redesigning the website so I held off on publishing the Dev page, but it will be up soon! This is appreciated! I can use a resource like this one!
  5. The 2600 analogy was a bad idea, I agree, and I learned my lesson. It's really upsetting to hear that current Atari dealers are expecting 1980 prices for their software / equipment. I believe someone in a different thread commented on this very same point. In retrospect, the poll should have been worded differently and I agree with your points. Looking back at the initial poll questions, I can see how they could be misconstrued as something arrogant and / or invading. Being a month old to the board I can see how people could be skeptical. Plus there's the entire Retrogeek / Doom Master scenario which was a nothing more than a misunderstanding, but that, too, was blown out of proportion. I plan on staying away from polls for the time being. I will take your advice (if I ever decide to produce a poll about my projects) and word things much differently so not to repeat what has happened already.
  6. You are more than welcome to defend yourself! I wasn't aware (at first) of the rules that govern this message board. Thank you for bringing them to my attention. You need to realize that placing your project information in your signature isn't common on other message boards. Each community has its own set of rules, and since the rules are different here, I have no problem with abiding by them. My question is why weren't these rules brought to my attention at the beginning of this thread? Plus, a simple, non-confrontational post explaining why the community would refuse to purchase ST software would have been far better received than what was written by Christos and the others. As senior members of the Atariage community (and this can be said about any message board community), they should have been a bit more understanding of the situation since I am new here. They could have posted something a bit more constructive, like explaining the way things work around here so I wouldn't make the same mistake twice. This would have prevented a lot from happening. I haven't owned an ST in a very long time (my other threads in the ST /TT forums clearly state I am new to certain aspects of the ST computer) so I am not ashamed to admit it. As for the message board comment: please see above. You have also responded to some of my ST queries and for that I am grateful. This is my 2cs. Edit: I agree that I could have acted differently in some of my posts (I won't argue this with anyone), but also realize that I was treating them the same way they were treating me (as wrong as it may have been).
  7. Just because you interpreted things one way, and I interpreted it another, doesn't make one point more valid than the other; they're two different points of view. Your post seems out of place in this thread since the subject matter is about who people thought I was. Your rebuttal to the Rob thread would have been more appropriately placed in a separate, entirely new thread addressing this subject only.
  8. This thread wasn't about my attitude so again your post is irrelevant and completely off-base. Ignorance is bliss, Chris. It's written right here as plain as day: For example Rob clearly states (and I quote): (rob fulop @ Mon Mar 31, 2008 8:35 PM) * Obviously many people would like to do whatever they can to keep the price as low as possible, so I'm not taking a lot of the lowball comments seriously. There wasn't a single person in the thread low-balling his precious release, Chris. These people were being genuine with their offers and he (i.e. Rob) swept them under the rug with lack-luster comments like the one in bold. He made this remark more than once and they're really hard to miss. Plus someone else quoted the above and responded: I believe that if anything, your response is more that of ignorance than my having comprehension problems.
  9. This is where you're wrong. Rob may have asked for a fair price but notice how he treated the people that offered what they felt was fair. This hobby may be a chosen pursuit but this doesn't give developers like Rob the right to treat his user base so poorly. Which makes your post completely irrelevant based on the subject matter at hand.
  10. I got a bum rap based on mistaken identity; attitude had nothing to do with it. You did read the thread didn't you? My comment in the Rob Fulop thread was dead on; he can't expect to make a living off what he designed for the Atari 2600. Come on, use some common sense here. Secondly, he treated half the people in the thread like low-lives because they couldn't afford more than $50 for his unfinished project. He had it coming. I'm sorry but his status doesn't excuse his conduct. You'd have an attitude too if people started bashing you over a simple case of mistaken identity. It's not like Retrogeek is a unique name for crying out loud. Being combative towards an onslaught of unwarranted attacks isn't the sign of immaturity; some of the people on this board act far worse and they're twice my age. Hey, you and the others can think what you like about me; it doesn't matter to me! I didn't start any of this so it's not my fault that some of you didn't like getting a taste of your own medicine.
  11. I am sorry you got a bum rap. There are a lot of good and talented people here, I hope you stick around to find that out. Wecome! I appreciate you looking to see what you could offer. Thanks! Thank you. It wasn't fun but I am over it. I agree! This place is full of talent and it's very exciting to see all these projects for my favorite systems!
  12. I never got around to asking him. . Jim did mention that they were true 64-bit machines so you might want to give him a call to find out which revision they are. Edit: you do mean the model numbers right?
  13. I'm glad I decided to post something here before making a purchase. I was a bit skeptical about the cable anyway; if it didn't go over well then it's probably not worth it.
  14. When your Atari is connected to this cable you have full access to your PC's keyboard, mouse, etc. Edit: this is not your standard hack to get PC keyboards / mice to work on your Atari. One end of the cable attaches to your Atari system and the other end connects to your PC's parallel port. With the upgrade version (from what the seller explained to me) allows data transfer between the two machines.
  15. I came across this while browsing EBay last night: Strange cable I asked the seller a few questions and apparently this cable will work with Atari 8-bit and 16-bit systems. They also offer an upgraded version that allows you to transfer files between a standard PC and ST computer. It sounds like a great deal but I am a bit hesitant to make a purchase. The seller also sent me his official URL and it's right here.
  16. Here's my list: Mortal Kombat Mortal Kombat II Rampage 2 Street Fighter 2 (any version) Smash TV Pit Fighter Lemmings Oh No! More Lemmings
  17. Agreed… He also comes off as arrogant at first but get him talking about Atari and he warms right up. lol His store is a treasure trove of retro equipment! His place is jammed full of items so its not like walking into a store like CompUSA; it's cluttered and small but the items you see there are incredible. Thank you; I believe you have been the first one (since my initial introduction post) to welcome me to the community. My stay so far hasn't been the greatest but I hope that people start realizing that I am not who they think I am. I'll even go as far as posting my ugly mug on the forum / profile if that helps!
  18. Well if you're really him then thanks a lot for all the bullshit your bad reputation has caused me. Edit: if this is some kind of joke then you have a twisted sense of humor.
  19. I appreciate the response and the explanation; this explains a lot. When I initially spoke to Jim (the owner) about mail order, he didn't seem too keen on the idea for some reason. When I visited his store in Lee, NH we spoke for a good 40 minutes about his love for Atari and the items he has there. Jim seemed like a decent person but you will get the impression that he's a strange duck when you talk to him. When I mentioned the message board (again) -- this time face-to-face -- he wasn't interested in selling here or having his information posted. I was embarrassed to say this here, and my biggest concern was that someone from here would contact Jim and mention that they found his info posted on a public forum. Since I was the one who brought everything up to him (the board, mail order, etc), I was concerned that it would cause trouble for me. I am no stranger to online scammers. I used to be a big Neo-Geo collector that used to purchase and sell very rare, very expensive Neo-Geo cartridges. I have been scammed myself in the past and know exactly what’s it like to lose hard-earned money. I hope there is some way to prove that I am not this scammer DoomMaster; it’s my rotten luck that this would happen. No offense was taken btw.
  20. I certainly can; it also makes sense why my initial welcome here was so poorly received. Just my luck too...
  21. Do you know how stupid you look when you mention how confident you are about my identity; especially when you’re 110% wrong? lol This is why I don't like you, plain and simple. I have never encountered so many assholes in my life on a single message board. I post the store information against the store owner's will, I notice that some of the instigators from this thread come in and read what I've posted, yet none of them are even mature enough to chime in with a simple " Yeah ok, we were wrong" comment. Know what? You people need to grow up a little bit AND pull your heads out of your collective asses. Nothing would make me happier than being wrong in this case. It would make me happy too! It would mean this headache of an issue would go away.
