  1. The store owner doesn't want anything to do with mail-order nor did he want his store information posted on a message board. PLEASE if you call him do not mention that you found his information on a message board. Can someone explain to me who this DoomMaster is?? I'm getting tired of being called him when I AM NOT.
  2. Sounds impressive. But are there really 1500 boxed Atari 8-bit games? Or anywhere near close to that? For reference, 1500 boxed games would of varying sizes would probably take up about an 8' by 12' space if the shelves were deep and filled to absolute capacity (double rows, light boxes stacked on top of sturdy boxes, etc.) If the titles were mostly unique, that might be the biggest physical Atari 8-bit collection anywhere in the world. I posted the store contact information so you will have to ask Jim(the store owner) yourself. He has a storage room in the basement so I would imagine that is where most of it is stored?
  3. Do you know how stupid you look when you mention how confident you are about my identity; especially when you’re 110% wrong? lol This is why I don't like you, plain and simple. I have never encountered so many assholes in my life on a single message board. I post the store information against the store owner's will, I notice that some of the instigators from this thread come in and read what I've posted, yet none of them are even mature enough to chime in with a simple " Yeah ok, we were wrong" comment. Know what? You people need to grow up a little bit AND pull your heads out of your collective asses.
  4. You people aren't the friendliest bunch are you? The reason I haven't posted the store information is because the shop keeper doesn't want to deal with mail orders / long-distance orders. If anyone still wants this information then I'd be happy to share it privately. If you tell him that you found his information here I will be REALLY pissed. Oh and BTW: hence the name off-hours, he's open from 1pm-6pm so don't expect him to be open at 9am. And I am NOT Doommaster or whatever the hell he's called; I'm 33 years old and I live in New Hampshire. I think some of you owe me an apology here[/b]
  5. Thank you for the information! I'll begin searching for the SCSI host adapter and the software; wish me luck!
  6. I've made my point already in previous posts (which apparently isn't sinking in on your end; you're still stuck on the poll and what you believe it all means) so if you want to keep beating a dead horse then be my guest. He had no right making that simple Americanstyle English comment; if this is your definition of nice then I'd rather not deal with people like him (or with you for that matter). Take care.
  7. Sorry for the delay in response, guys! This is what's going on at the moment: He has boxes upon boxes of Atari software sitting in storage behind his counter. He wouldn't let me dig through all the boxes when I was there. I guess I can't blame him; he probably didn't want me trashing the place. I brought a list (albeit small) of software requested by some of the members here, and the only one he did claim to have was Alternate Reality for the 8-bit Atari computers. I asked for a price but he didn't have one; he asked me what I thought it was worth. lol I guess it depends on what someone else is willing to pay for the game. He didn’t seem too keen on the mail order idea. Why? Who knows… maybe he’s just set in his ways. His stock includes some of the following: Atari 1200xl computers x 2 (Mint condition; he doesn’t have a price and wanted me to make an offer) Atari 800 systems x 3 (Again he wanted me to make an offer) Atari 2600 (wood panel version; wanted me to make an offer) Atari 2600 joysticks (more than you can shake a stick; between $5-$10 dollars) Atari 2600 paddles (between $5-$10) 1025 printer accessories (cables; $25) Unpopulated Atari 1040st boards $20 Atari 1040st (working) $100 Atari ST monochrome / color monitors ($50 each) Atari 7800 system ($50) 1500 software titles and the price vary depending on the title. My question is: how does he expect us to buy any of his software if no one can browse through all the products? Lol Non-Atari related items: Silicon Graphic workstations x 4 ($50 each) Alpha workstations (no price, he wanted me to make an offer) Classic Mac computers (I didn’t ask for a price) He has a large assortment of hard drives (small in capacity), CD-Rom drives, MFM hard drives, etc. for around $20 each. There is so much stuff packed inside this little store it boggles the mind.
  8. Not true. It's the Zip drive that you can't boot off of as your only drive (unless you rig up a power supply to the ACSI/SCSI host adapter and use a hard disk driver that supported booting off SCSI ID 5) Syquest drives were high quality drives that followed SCSI standards which worked on all known SCSI systems. Iomega Zip drives were cheap quality drives that didn't follow all SCSI standards which caused problems like the above. This is good to hear! I found a SCSI SyQuest 44mb drive for dirt cheap ($20) so all I need is a cable and case. I hate to ask such a noobish question but will I need to find software or will it work independently?
  9. lol Where did you get that picture from? Can we bury the hatchet and move on from this? Tempers flared, things were said, but that doesn't mean we have to make enemies out of each other. Agreed?
  10. It was your attitude and not necessarily what you wrote. Yes I would! I was referring to the people in this thread that have been acting holier than thou (i.e. the ones who are picking on American English) -- people who believe they belong to a higher caliber of society. I called you a stupid fool for thinking that after introducing myself to this board -- and showcasing what I want to do for the community -- that I would turn around and call someone a Nazi. That would be a great way to get banned from the board. Maybe I should have made the comment in a separate post to prevent any misunderstandings from springing up. Live and learn I suppose. It's the way you carried yourself in the thread.
  11. To the moderating staff at Atariage.com: Please lock this thread; it's painfully obvious that some people are incapable of carrying on a conversation without bringing cultural bigotry into it.
  12. How did I know you were going to type that? You're an anti-American bigot Christos; you've proven your bigotry time and time again. Yes, you're a bigot! Sunnyboy is no different with his Americanstyle English comment. There is nothing special about any of you; you’re human beings just like the rest of us. It's no secret that Europeans speak 'proper' English but that doesn't give you the right to ridicule someone that lives in the U.S. If I was going to apply Godwin's law I would have said 'Master' race you stupid fool; don't you know anything? No, wait -- I keep forgetting that you're hell-bent on discrediting me for some reason. My thread was non-confrontational; I asked a simple question and expected answers. The people who turned this into a flamewar should be ashamed of themselves. There is one thing you need to learn about me: I NEVER back down from a fight.
  13. Move aside! The superior race has entered the room! lol What is that supposed to mean? It means Simmon boy needs to come down off his perch; he's no better than anyone else.
  14. Hey, I am just defending myself! I believe this thread should be locked before it gets any worse.
  15. Move aside! The superior race has entered the room! lol
  16. I'm not looking to make a profit so don't make this into something it's not. I made it very clear that money is not important so there is no need for me to repeat myself.
  17. I hear you, Retrogeek. Let me explain what I have observed from all of this. You see, we live in a society were we want and expect EVERYTHING to be free; We download our favorite songs on a P2P network for FREE, we download our favorite movies from IRC or Bittorrent sites for FREE, and by god software for a 20 year old Atari computer should be FREE. Even if its a new release! Its a great little Utopia we live in. I agree with you, Silence. There is a perceived misconception that if something is free it should stay that way no matter what it is. You're not alone! I could have easily used an ST emulator to develop my projects but in my opinion it's not the same as owning the real deal. I purchased a 1040ST, a new color monitor, a ton of development tools / software, digitizing equipment, midi -- it cost me plenty but it was all worth it imo. The best thing about this entire ordeal is that the wife is behind me on this venture 110%! I guess I am a lucky guy. I know some people whose wives would have thrown them into a cauldron of boiling oil for spending that kind of money on 20+ year old equipment. I appreciate the support, Silence.
  18. You tell people not to purchase games from Paradize yet you have them advertised in your sig; am I missing something here? lol Does Paradize sell software? You make it sound like they do. This is my interpretation of what your posts (and others) are trying to say: software on the ST isn’t worth owning unless it’s free. Please correct me if I am wrong! I would also like to know why certain portions of the community expect others to subscribe to their mentality of 'free'. I understand that some people want to preserve the 'freebase' platform the ST community has created, but trying to discourage someone's project - based solely on archaic thinking and prejudice - is not only wrong but very infantile in nature.
  19. Proton Fighter is being developed on the Atari 1040st so there are RAM limitations. The loops are stored in memory and the code calls them in sequence to generate the song. The other approach is also possible; I could re-digitize the samples as one long file, compress the data, and play it back as a single audio stream.
  20. I've been working on a few songs for Proton Fighter. I am not an expert musician by any stretch of the imagination but I hope you enjoy them nonetheless. Just a side note regarding the Boss.mp3 soundtrack: I am not happy with the opening 'sound effects' and I plan on shortening it later. Here are the downloadable files in MP3 format: Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 Boss Stage Space Fighter Select Screen Your comments are appreciated!
  21. My goal is to have fun with the system while developing games for the ST community. I am a bit surprised by the mentality of some ST users but to each his own I suppose. I'm from both sides of the fence (Amiga & ST) and the Amiga community is far different than the ST community. Amiga users still purchase new software when it's released for the system (even though software can be downloaded for free off pirate emulation sites). ST users may consider this ridiculous but the Amiga community considers it an act of appreciation. I'm just making a general comparison between the two communities here so there is no need to start another Amiga vs. ST debate. I hope my projects speak for themselves when I finally post them here for release! Yes, they will be free! Stay tuned.
  22. I appreciate your honesty on the matter! I hope you realize that It wasn't my intention to insult the verteran ST community with my thread / poll about my ST projects. I am new to the message board and unaware of the rules that govern it. Hmmmmm... Don't you think it would have saved us the trouble if you had mentioned the rules earlier? lol In either case, I am looking forward to releasing these projects!
  23. I don't really care 'who' they are to be honest. If you and what's his name are 'related to these people' then I am not impressed.
  24. This poll was added to gauge interest for future projects. The projects in development NOW will be released for 'free' to the community. Read it again genius: This poll was added to gauge interest for future projects. The projects in development NOW will be released for 'free' to the community. Come on, you can do it! I feel confident you can. Well good for you!
  25. Also: This poll was added to gauge interest for future projects. The projects in development NOW will be released for 'free' to the community. If the naysayer’s here would read up on what I've written so far they'd see that I am NOT here to make a profit, rape the community, etc. I love Atari, I love the ST, and I want to contribute. The hostility and playground bashing ("I am pretty confident you don't really know what you are talking about....") makes some of you (and the Atari community) look bad, especially when everything I have posted so far has been on the level and forth-coming in every aspect.
