  1. Dream Machine-Hull, MA (still in operation in the summer)

Penny Arcade-Hull, MA (closed, but still full of old arcade games :( )

Dream Machine-Hanover Mall, Hanover, MA (now the Big Top Arcade or something like that)

Star Land-Hanover, MA (also still open, but the old arcade is closed down :( )

I also used to go to Funspot in NH sometimes when I was little, and I still go there every once in a while. I went there last weekend! Too bad many of my favorite games were broken. :x

  2. Here's some of my favorite underrated games for the PSX that are in my collection:

    -RC De Go

    -Klonoa

-Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (really lives up to it's name!)

    -Nanotek Warrior

    -In The Hunt

    -Philosoma

    -Space Griffon VF9

    -Raiden Project

    -Gekioh:Shooting King

    -Rival Schools

    -Tomba

    -Star Trek: Invasion

    -Einhander

    -Grandia

    -Destruction Derby Raw

    -Incredible Crisis

    -Chrono Cross

That's about all I can remember right now. I'm glad I went nuts buying up PSX games before they disappeared from stores. I've got a lot of good ones in my collection!

  3. I have always been a big fan of Mike Tyson's Punch Out for the NES. I let a friend borrow it back in the day and never got it back. :x I recently replaced it with the later Mr. Dream Punchout. I actually played the arcade game for the first time last weekend! It's definitely a good game. I don't have much experience with the SNES one, but seeing this thread reminds me that I need to pick that up.

  4. There's definitely nothing classic about that thing. However, that is a really nice Forza 2 setup for the Xbox 360. I'm gonna make one of those someday out of a spare car seat I have lying around.

There were some "classic gaming seats" kicking around at Funspot in NH in the classic gaming museum section when I went there last weekend. They looked like stools to me though! I also sat in one to play a game: It was a Red Baron cockpit cabinet.

  5. I've got the Sacred Stones GBA game, and I think it's a great game. Best Buy had it on sale a while ago for like $10, and it's worth every penny. I actually just got Radiant Dawn a few days ago, but have yet to play it. I scored it for $10!!! I missed out on the GC Fire Emblem game, so I'm looking forward to some good old-school turn-based strategy action with this one. For the price, I just couldn't say no, either!

  6. Well, none of these really came from thrift stores, but what the hell, I'll post them up anyway!

From a bunch of FYE's going out of business around here:

-Clubhouse Games for the DS (the original one, not the remake) $10

    -Viewtiful Joe 2, GC, $2

    -Viewtiful Joe, PS2, $4

    -Baten Kaitos Origins, GC, $2.50

    -WarioWare Twisted, GBA, $10

    -Assassin's Creed for Xbox 360, $11

-Need For Speed Pro Street, Xbox 360, $8

    -Flipnic Pinball, PS2, $2.50

    -Scurge:Hive DS, $2

    -Star Trek Encounters, PS2, $2.50

    -Fire Emblem:Radiant Dawn, Wii, $10

    -Batallion Wars 2, Wii, $10

-Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, Xbox, $5

-Harvey Birdman Attorney At Law, PSP, $5

From a few KB Toy Stores also going out of business:

    -Gradius V, PS2, $7

    -Hot Shots Golf 3, PS2, $5

    -Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2, PS2, $5

-Taito Legends Power Up, PSP, $5

-Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations, DS, $5

    From Play N Trade:

-Metroid Zero Mission, GBA, in the box for $10

-Double Strike for the NES, $5

-Gradius Collection for the PSP, $12

And my Ebay score of the week: A boxed Intellivision console for $8.99!!! :D

I've been looking for an affordable Intellivision for quite a while, and I just couldn't pass this one up. It is boxed, but the box is in rough shape. It has both controllers, but nothing else. Do these have an external power supply? Does it hook up to the TV like most of the other systems of the day? I also have to get some games for it to test it out.

  7. I agree with the sentiments of all of you that say that FYE sucks, but I did score some good deals there. Here's a few of the deals I got:

-Clubhouse Games for the DS (the original one, not the remake) $10

    -Viewtiful Joe 2, GC, $2

    -Viewtiful Joe, PS2, $4

    -Baten Kaitos Origins, GC, $2.50

    -WarioWare Twisted, GBA, $10

    -Assassin's Creed for Xbox 360, $11

-Need For Speed Pro Street, Xbox 360, $8

    -Flipnic Pinball, PS2, $2.50

-Scurge:Hive (essentially a cheap 3/4 view Metroid clone) DS, $2

    -Star Trek Encounters, PS2, $2.50

I know some of those game probably suck, but for the price I just couldn't say no! And they had many more too, especially Xbox and PS2 games. Many of the last gen stuff was on clearance anyway, so the prices were not too bad to begin with. I traditionally do pretty well there when stuff goes on clearance there, and I've gotten some rare stuff there when this happens. A few years back I picked up one of those huge PS1 Dual Analog flight stick controllers for $2.99, brand new in the box. That thing was fun to mess around with. I haven't seen another one since!

They were always the highest priced chain around here for music too, with most CD's going for around $17-18! They were really killing themselves with that. After the advent of the MP3 and Itunes, it really was only a matter of time.

  8. I am really afraid to update my Xbox. The last Microsoft product I updated was my 80GB Zune, and now it's a paperweight. The update made the Zune pretty much eat itself from the inside. It just goes to a screen that says "Please Wait..." and that's all it does. My 360 has been fine so far (I've had it for about 1 1/2 years), It's only froze once while playing Halo 3, but I have a feeling it's going to die if I update it. :(

  9. I went to a local Play N Trade today and made out pretty well.

    For the NES...

    $3 each

    -The Guardian Legend

    -Legendary Wings

    -Cobra Triangle

    -Power Blade

    For the 2600...

    $2

-Raiders of the Lost Ark, in the box but no instructions

    For the SNES...

Here's where the deals were! $3 each

    -UN Squadron

    -Space Megaforce

I already have Space Megaforce, but for $3, I couldn't pass up another copy! :D

  10. "Glass Eye"? I never noticed that, but I always thought he had something strange about him! Back when he had the store in Weymouth, MA, a friend and I would always go in there and get the best deals on games, just because he had no clue what he was doing. One day, A friend of mine picked up Dragon Force for the Saturn, complete and in perfect condition, for $19. I got Einhander for the PS1, also in perfect condition, for $12! Meanwhile, he had a loose SMB2 for the NES in a case for $24.99! I could go on and on about that guy.

  11. I got it at the Raynham Flea Market in Raynham, MA. There are usually a good number of game vendors there. I picked it up at some random table that sold mostly comic books though. I've gotten quite a few good deals there from many different vendors. Just stay away from the Worldwide Video Games guy outside, right near the gates. His prices are completely ridiculous. Last time i went before Sunday, he wanted $60 for Star Tropics (complete, but in poor condition), Tecmo Super Bowl for the SNES, and Balloon Fight for the NES (loose and in crap conditon)! The good deals are inside.

  12. I'm still kinda new here too, and I've scored a few deals that I'm proud of. Here's a few highlights of my finds:

-Atari 2600 with about 80 games, all with instructions and about 10 or so various controllers for $30 a few years ago at a flea market

-Sega Nomad with a battery pack and power supply for $30 at Gamestop a couple years ago, the guy at the store didn't know what it was :D

-Chuck Norris Superkicks for the Colecovision at a Play N Trade for $2

This one is by far the best find ....

-Vectrex system in pretty good condition in a junkyard, sitting in the backseat of an early 1960's Rambler, for FREE. :-o The thing works great! I bought a few parts for one of my cars, and they told me to take it. I couldn't believe it! I had been looking for one for years, too.

    Most recent:

I went to a flea market last Sunday and picked up Power Strike for the SMS CIB, along with (for the SNES) Tetris Attack, Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures, Star Trek DS9: Crossroads Of Time, Super Baseball 2020, and a NES Power Pad. I picked it all up for a total of $30.

  13. Hello everyone, I've been lurking on here for years but this is my first post, and I have a question for you guys. I picked up a copy of Power Strike for the SMS yesterday at a flea market. Usually when I see SMS games out in the wild, I buy them right away, because they are getting harder to come by. I picked it up CIB and mint for $5. I did some research on the game after reading that it is a "special edition" game on the back of the box, and apparently, it was a mail order only game you could only buy from Sega. I was also surprised to find out that it was developed by Compile. I already have Zanac, Gun Nac, and Space Megaforce, so this should fit into my collection nicely. This game has to be rare. Did I get a good deal on it?

  14. Bump for a cool old thread...

I've done pretty well at Play N Trade since I discovered it last year. I've gotten a bunch of Colecovision and 2600 games there, and their Genesis selection is pretty big. I've snagged a few good deals on some hard to find games there, especially for the NES. They had a bunch of older black label games there, including Wild Gunman, Popeye, and Pro Wrestling, and they were between $.99 and $1.99. I also picked up Intelligent Qube for the PS1 out of the $1.50 binder in the front of the store! :)

The guy from Worldwide Video Games has no idea what he is doing. That's prtobably why he's at an outdoor booth at the Rayhnam Flea Market now. When he was in Weymouth, a friend of mine and I used to go in there and get crazy deals on games, just because he had no clue what things were worth. I picked up Einhander for PS1 complete and mint for $12.99, and my friend scored Dragon Force for the Saturn complete for $20. Meanwhile he had SMB1 in a hard case going for $20. I went to his booth about a month ago, and wanted to sell me Startropics, Tecmo Bowl for the SNES, and some Genesis game I can't remember for $60!!! Needless to say, I walked away. There is another guy outside who's got rare games every once in a while, and there is a booth right in the middle of the indoor part that has good deals on NES stuff, and you can haggle with them a little.

I also had some good luck at the Trader's Market stores in Brockton. They really don't have a clue what games are worth, and their prices are cheap on the older stuff.

Sorry for a long first post. :D
