I have an 800 in a plain cardboard box with Atari labels on it... not sure if this is an older one or something that was a factory refurbished machine.

As human beings living in an uncertain world, we make claims about many matters about which we do not have knowledge or even well-confirmed beliefs. An opinion is a belief, often held with a rather low degree of confidence. Usually when we hold opinions, we are aware that they are our opinions in the sense that we cannot fully defend them by citing reasons or evidence in support. For example, it may be one person’s opinion that wilderness skiing is safe and another’s opinion that it is dangerous. These are opinions, but nevertheless it is clear that reasons and evidence are relevant to their credibility; there are facts about avalanche risks in various areas, and the suitability of various kinds of equipment. Such facts can be studied and reported in ways that are more or less reliable. Politically and legally, we are free to hold any opinion at all, as people so often insist when they say things like “I’m entitled to my own opinion.” In normal circumstances, others cannot coerce us into believing something we don’t believe. However, the political right to hold any opinion does not mean that all opinions are intellectually equal. Some opinions are mere opinions, whereas other opinions are based on evidence, reasoning, and good judgment. However much we speak of people being entitled to their own opinion, most of us do seek evidence for claims about matters of practical importance, such as which doctor to go to, which college to attend, and what the salary is for a job we might be seeking. When opinions are carelessly formed and unsupported, they do us little service because they are not reliable guides to the world. We should seek well-founded and sensible opinions, grounded in factual accuracy and coherent reasons. Such common sayings as “Isn’t that just a matter of opinion?,” “Everyone has a right to his own opinion,” and “Well, that may be your view, but I have my own opinion” seem to suggest that one opinion is just as good as another. But because our beliefs and opinions guide our attitudes and actions, that view is simply not correct. Govier, Trudy. A practical Study of Argument

The worst thing they can do at this point is release it on the Atari.

Yes! Three are two modes that the wireless card has. AP mode where you connect to it, it will assign your machine an IP address, etc... and the other mode allows it to connect to a wireless router. I've set it up to connect to my wireless router when the atari (and card) are powered up, its gets an IP address from my router and I can FTP files across to it. There is a web interface and I believe somewhere there is an upload function buried but I just use FTP for now. With the 16gig card that it came with and the wireless function now I dont have to keep yanking that lid off of the 800... These wireless cards seem pretty hackable as well https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=45820

Its really not that bad with the cover on. Its getting full signal strength to the router in the same room but it was a little poor when it was in AP mode and I was in another room.

I've given up on trying to get that fat16 working, I installed paragon partitioning tools that decided to put a boot loader on my machine messing everything up for me... Did get me out of the house while I was re-installing windows. Oh well, ill try using parted magic later. There must be an APT, I allocated 16 HD's... I thought the limit was 15? I only assigned 3 drive letters.

Unfortunately I dont have one... Also, my stupid SIO2USB died on me (after only 3 uses... arg!) so im not sure how I can fully test things out. I have an older version of the incognito firmware (V.0.3) and am not able to update it. But as far as I can see, your fdisk was happy to partition it. I used a 4096meg partition for the APT and the rest was allocated to fat32. I was trying to use a partition editor to shrink the fat32 partition so I could put a fat16 inbetween there. I read somewhere about how you can access fat16 partitions from within SDX. Supposidly this CF adapter is very commonly available and the PQI Aircard already has FTP/Telnet, etc. already setup out of the box (but it is open wide, however). I think the transend card would work too but that doesnt have a microsd slot which I think is kinda cool. good thing I copied the partition tools to a diskette before that SIO2USB died.

I must have been doing something wrong at the command line ftp but FileZilla worked like a champ! Kind of suprised that a CF adapter and a SD to microSD adapter work in this thing let alone a wireless one The range kinda stinks when I have the top on but I have it connecting to the router instead of AP mode and the router is only 8 feet away...

So I finally got these: http://www.amazon.com/PQI-16GB-Air-Card-6W25-016GR1001/dp/B009MJEL00/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top http://www.amazon.com/Digigear-SDHC-SDXC-Ultimate-Adapter/dp/B00EPMWT1M/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Not that I really know what I am doing with the incognito but I was able to fdisk the MicroSD card and it seems to work. The FAT32 partiton loads ATR's and the APT partitions seem to work as well... I did try updating my incognito but only got a CPLD error or something like that. From the wireless side I have set the card to connect to my wifi router and I can telnet/ftp to the card and see the FAT32 partitions. Havent yet figured how to push/pull files to it yet... Anything I should test?

Heck, I need a full atari 800 case while were at it...

I just picked up a PQI AIR CARD for my Incognito. I'll need to use a CF to SD convertor but I hope to report back with some success soon

Little Princess, work in progress game
Stormbringer replied to Philsan's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Wow, that looks pretty good! -
I haven't even fully dove back into the Atari world and my current, awesome, Incognito setup but I know I would like at least 1 more board as a backup. I'd hate to see this thing be only a limited run or two, this thing is amazing! Candle, on a side note: if you sell enough of these things and there is interest for it would it be possible for a VBXE drop in board?

ATARI 8bit accelerators - Rapidus and F7
Stormbringer replied to lotharek's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Will this somehow be able to work with Incognito machines?!?! -
ok, so I've checked everything that I could think of and my install seems pretty stable now. Keyboard issue was solved as well as carts working now after changing my resistors. I still have one problem left and its odd. Some of the characters in text mode seem to be corrupt. Looks like a tail on my lowercase "t", the "i" and a couple of others... if I move the color wheel back and forth it seems to mute or highlight the issues... when I move the wheel all the way to the black and white it is crisp like crazy! So, did anyone have any idea's of what I should look at next?

Incognito Board Install Questions
Stormbringer replied to Jason1024's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I've just finished my install and had the same CPU board, which is what lead me to this thread. I too have the same issues with carts, I have flashed the rom but have yet to replace the cart resistors. Maybe it needs both? I'll report back after they are replaced. -
Crowbar?!?!? I didn't mean to imply your work was shotty! It was easy enough to solder back on... the issue was that the top battery pins were pushed down instead of up where it would hit the side of the battery. Seems to work now!! I do have some weird artifact stuff going on around my characters... Hoping I didn't melt anything I shouldn't have. lol
-
I THINK my keyboard may have just gone wonky.... but I just wanted to say, be careful removing your battery! I tried to remove mine since my date/time wouldnt save and wouldnt ya know it - the entire battery holder lifted from the board.

Hey guys, I just installed mine and I get the main screen but some of my keys dont seem to be working now?!?! is there anything I could have fried? seems like the cluster around "Q" and the up arrow area...
