Hello, How many colors are we talking about. I have NeoDesk 4 that I just bought about 1 1/2 years ago and there were no problems for me. I used it along with Geneva on my STe in the 16 color mode. It really depends the icons you use for the desktop. Try using simple graphic icons with hardly any colors and see it that helps, then put the icons back. Of course you may need to upgrade to version 4. Go the Gribnif website and talk to Dan Wilga. He should have an even better answer for you. -

Well I have an old Roland MT-32 MIDI module that still works and sounds great. There are newer MIDI modules that are available that maybe you should look at. The last MIDI software that was still being supported for the Atari computer line is Sweet 16. I have it and it functions just fine. Worked great on my Hades060 until the Hades died on me. Other software that functions well is Tiger and Tiger Cub. -

Hello, I have used Tiger Cub, Tiger and Sweet 16 with my Atari systems (Hades, Falcon, STe). They seem to do the job nicely. Sweet is the only one of the 3, that I now of, that is still being supported. For hardware, I have an old MT-32 MIDI module from Roland that still works and sounds great. -

Internet Sharing between a Falcon and PC.

That is what I figured. I have bought the cable off of Ebay and will be getting it soon. I am already connecting the Falcon to a router, I have installed a PC in the computer room we have that my son will use. The router is already full, so when he is on the Internet, there is nothing for me to use, so in this case I will just use the PC's connection. Besides, it will make a nice demo at our next Atari club meeting. Thanks for your imput. -
Falcon 030 - bad Cartridge port

I can but it is not hard to find. Just remove the power unit and it can easily be seen. Just about 1/2 inch from the cartridge port pin 1 and a little port toward the back the of the computer. Kind of small but visible. It is the only part labeled F2. I will see about a picture though. Superatarian, I got you covered. Here is a pic from my project falcon that I am repairing. F2 is the little green part right near the top of the cart port. Yep, that's it. Thanks alot for doing that. I appreciate it. -
Hello once again all. Now that my cartridge port is fixed I was getting back to my original project, getting a Falcon to getting connected to the Internet using a PC. I know the PC in question has to have two network cards, which is the case. I have the hardware from Lynsdon A. that connects throught the Falcon cart port using an ISA network card (NEC2000). I want to use either STing or MagicNet. I started out with Sting and the hardware connects fine when I hook it up straight to the router. When I hook it up to the PC, the PC tells me that there is a connection, but I cannot get the two to talk to each other. The PC card has an Ip addres of 192.168.0.1 and this what I set STing to. The Route.tab file like something like this: 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1. It does show up when I call it up using the Dialer.prg. Everything is set but nothing goes across the cable. And here is something else. When I set the route.tab file as I said and and try and ping something, I get no blinking of the lights on the Atari hardware network card, but if I change the digits to be: 192.168.1.1, then yellow light blinks as packets are sent during a ping. I am thinking I have a setting that I must change. Also, do I need to get some cross-over cat-5 cable because I do not think I am using that. I have not tried MagicNet as yet, but I think I just may.

Well I ordered some 0.5 amp fuses from a guy on Ebay. I was able to get twenty for about $15. I put one in the F2 spot and the cartridge port worked. That's a relief. Thanks alot for the advice the schematic of the Falcon. I think I know now what happened. I am going to put my falcon motherboard in my old Hades tower and I ordered the cartridge port extender from Best Electronics (made by Wiztronics). I use the NEC2000 hardware to get on the Internet which goes into the cartridge port. I accidently plugged the NEC2000 backwards. Now I have done this before in the past and nothing happened, but with the port extender in, the fuse was blown. I know, stupid me. This experience will make me check myself. It will be easier once I get it installed in the tower. At least I know what to do if it happens again. Again, thanke alot. -

I see that it is not a typical fuse and must be soldered off and then on. I guess I could use a volt meter to check it out or just temporarily use a wire to complete the connection to see if the cartridge port then works. Suppose it is the fuse, where do I get another one. If I go to a computer place that has such items just what am I look for? Are they just called fuses or what? The fuse is just solid black with no numbers. I have found out that the Mega STe has the same fuse labeled "F2" and that it is the same one that is one the Falcon. On the Mega it is label 05 AMP, so that is what I will get. A pico 0.5amp fuse. I think I should be able to buy one at Radio Shack. -

Hello, I have had my Falcon for a number of months since my Hades went bye-bye. I have CT63 coming and I am hoping to put my Falcon motherboard in my old Hades tower. I will be running my system on a Mac using Magic Mac while I am doing this. I sure hope the PCI upgrade comes out soon, but I guess the plans are still on paper.

I did not know there was a fuse for the cartridge port. Where is it located? -
For some reason, the cartridge port does not work anymore. I have the Diagnostic cart and when I plug it in I get nothing. Has anyone had this experience? I cannot figure out what happened. Is there something that can be done software wise or do I just have to send it in somewhere?
