  The SMS has some outstanding jewels, but just can't compete with the shear number of great games for the NES

  I did back in the 80s & 90s, and I had both. Nowadays I'd probably go with the NES if I had to pick one, due to the sheer size of the library and number of titles I haven't played. The SMS had a lot of great games, though.
