  (1/2) Not only that, but a population kept stupid and undereducated, who denounce basic fact as hoax, cannot be competitive in an exponentially globalizing economy. And then when their jobs are phased out or automated, they'll decry it as a conspiracy of the government, academic and scientific "elites," "leftists," whoever, that's keeping them down. Thus, anti-intellectualism continues while wealth disparity widens and the economy suffers.
