  After reading the article and looking at the X-ray I'm going to hope that some kid was just bicycling down the side walk, accidentally hit her with their bike, then put her out of her misery with a BB gun to the back of the head. It could have been a psycho killer, but there are other plausible explanations for spine trauma like that and the single broken vertebrae does suggest a smaller point of impact than a human shoe would cause.

  B.B. slingshot or CO2 Ball bearing by a sick kid or adult. I've seen kids kick animals to death already, while one of em was wearing a PETA shirt. Can't deal with these terrible things. Once a mob gets going it loses all humanity...
