Anyone ever find out what happened to @carmel_andrews? He was always good for a laugh.
Yes, I realize it's been over ten years.

Alley Cat would be a great project for a VBXE makeover.
Alley Cat VBXE would be the killer app that finally convinces me to take the VBXE plunge.

One caveat: the EBay seller said that the keyboard included is very iffy. What are some good keyboard alternatives to use with the XE?
The TransKey II is an excellent inexpensive alternative to the XEGS keyboard. Allows you to use any PS2 keyboard with the console. I have one myself.

Lode Runner and Karateka from Br0derbund were both flippy releases.
Mercenary and PQ The Party Quiz Game are two others I have.

The Hyperkin Trooper feels well made. I use the Trooper 2, which is the USB version.
Trooper 2 is not well made. I've broken two of them with a week or two of light, non-abusive use. The plastic handle gives up pretty easily.

I think you already see the other big issue: I am on a 600 xl, and am using typical RF connection out to a smallish TV, and no composite monitor.
Any software-generated 80 column display will be all but unreadable on an RF-connected TV set. The artifacting will drive you insane.

I don't speak a word of Polish, but I think I have a new favorite song. 12 Groszy is going to be in my head for days.
Note to self: Learn Polish.

I'll second most of these suggestions and my two perennial favorites every time this topic reappears:
Maze War is a frantic combat shooter for up to four.
Snowball Fight is goofy fun for two. Can't find the dump online so I've attached it here.

I have an extra CPU card and 16K memory card I'd be willing to send your way for cheap, should you need them.
PM me!

Unfortunately the mylar was a bit worse for wear after the trip. It had been folded in half and placed in a ziplock bag that was considerably smaller than the unfolded mylar and was not protected by anything else. So it had a slight crease across the middle which is probably no biggie, but unfortunately due to the way it was packed in with the computer, PSU, and loose carts it also had a few holes as if something had punctured it. I think if it had been me, I would have sandwiched it in between two pieces of stiff cardboard.
You've got to be kidding.

BITD, ANALOG magazine published an excellent public-domain alternative called B-Calc. Just found it on one of my old 5.25" floppies. Don't know if it would be easily converted to cartridge.

Thanks Doc, but I've agreed to take the unit off @donjn hands, so I'll be investigating this myself when it arrives and be sure to report back in this thread as to what was found.
EDIT: It's a nice looking 65XE judging by this photo I was sent...
Nice to see that he's including two of the three games I basically gave him a week ago, but he's decided to keep the copy of Q-Bert that he claims doesn't work.

Darryl came back for a second set of carts and was just as pleasant to do business with. A straight shooter who communicates clearly, pays promptly and is a legit gamer!
New (to me) 800 just arrived!
