  1. Just wanted to give everyone an update on what has been going on. For the past couple of months I have been very ill. It started as a rampant staph infection that eventually caused some kind of internal infection in my system. The past couple of months have been a living hell for me. Doctor visit after doctor visit, spending a lot of time in bed, taking horse pills, and most days trying my very best to get things done despite how I felt.

I'm still recovering from the illness and had a trip to the hospital about a week ago, but luckily I am okay and still kicking.

This, in short, led to the delay and delivery of some issues of ClassicVGM #4. I just wanted those that purchased issue 4 (that haven't received their copies yet) that they will be arriving. In the meantime, you can contact us at [email protected] to receive a free copy of the digital. This will not affect your print subscription / pre-order in any way.

We are also extending subscriptions for the inconvenience; all you have to do is reference the delay.

Again I apologize for any inconvenience or upset this has caused anyone.

  2. (Spits out coffee). A final version of Tiny Toons? What? WHAT?!

NO! No final game, only the final BUILD! the last version programmed. Refering to the tiny toons thread it's milestone 3, with 5 Levels, but only the first level is completed, the other 4 are missing enemys etc.

Ah! Either way, I want one! Thanks for clearing it up for me. :)

  3. Still looking. Hoping to find a 1040STFM at a decent price for my father's 69th birthday. I've been searching Fleabay for copies of Sundog, and found one complete for $70. Yikes! I love Sundog as much as my father, but didn't realize it went for that much. :|

  4. Yeah, this is looking better than a lot of platform games I played on the C64, and gives me hope that a Jumpman clone (even with different screens/bomb layouts) will be possible someday. I could certainly see myself buying a cartridge of this.

    I agree with you completely.

I'm going to step outside my comfort zone and say I have never seen a game like this before on the Atari 2600. Even the music is pleasant, and hits the right tones. I find myself enjoying the music while I try to make some of the difficult jumps in the game. Everything feels so polished... I love it! :)

  5. I just downloaded the latest .bin.... and this game is brilliant. The music is fantastic, and the game play is responsive and smooth. Incredible job! Kudos to the developer!

    :)

Edit: The game is great the way it is, but while I was playing, there were times when I wished I could duck to avoid the bats. It would also be nice if you got scored (maybe 10pts for the bat, etc.) every time you jumped over an animal.

  7. Hey all,

Looking to purchase an Atari 1040STfm as a birthday gift for my father. He loved the Atari ST computer back in the day, and apparently he wants to own one again to play classics like Brataccas and Sundog (two of his favorite ST games).

The computer doesn't have to be super minty fresh as long as its clean and working. Any deals out there?

  8. Additional update:

ClassicVGM continues to evolve. As we continue to expand, people become more aware of our presence in the classic gaming community, including the people who have shaped the hobby we enjoy today. We have features in issue 4 that demanded additional time, and it was our obligation to delay issue 4 until these features were completed.

We wanted to bring this to the attention of the classic gaming community, but most importantly our readers, who continue to support us.

We have corresponded with many of you via email, and understand that you prefer the very best in printed material (i.e. original content, features, etc.) than something slapped together in a hurry to stay on schedule.

We take publishing ClassicVGM very seriously, and we are not going anywhere.

The digital version of ClassicVGM issue 4 will be released soon. If you have already subscribed to our digital option, you will receive an email with a special link to download issue 4 (once available). The digital subscription price of $4.95 is valid to all territories (i.e. US and World), so do not hesitate to subscribe if you prefer digital over print.

All digital issues are released in Adobe PDF high-res.

Pre-orders for the newsstand edition of ClassicVGM issue 4 end on June 19th, 2010. We have received responses to extend our current June 19th, 2010 deadline for pre-orders, and an update about that will be released shortly.
