... remeber that i wrote a patch some while ago to allow storing with "normal" RAM (not the handshake one which is used)
-
Seems quiet some time since I released the last updates... but now here they are:
Version bump to 1.9.1
* better on ignoring empty (or close to empty) lines
* A few changes to the "default" behaviour
* a few extra checks that reduces the chances for stupid mistakes in .mak files, return error code (for Makefile processing)
** checks that at least one loader type is defined or NOLOADER is given explicitly
* automatically sets the block size and dirstart to the selected loader (if applicable), still they can be overwritten if needed
* support empty entries
* create several (n) empty entries (nice for hacking)
* improved banking support (AUDIN and BANK2)
* updates manual
* eeprom type bits for emulation
* ... and some more things I forgot
get it at the usual place

that was a joke.

Kickstarter for Lynx game development... good idea.

yes and no.
no, not without extra hardware.
yes. if you have this hardware and soldered a bit inside your lynx.

It cannot be a RAM issue if its always the same pixel. The games use typically different screen addresses.

-> wikipedia says: skweek
actually I know two different version of demonsgate.
but without the source code I do not think this can be really finished.

Thanks for posting this. To my knowledge, thsi is the first "prove" of this.

mono/stereo issue
looking at the schematics, why do you think they are pin compatible?

you shouldnt use suzy in interrupts, because you can not be sure that you intercept some other action. Read the docs for more details.
(actually, I do not see any reason to do that ... switching buffers in VBL and checking the corresponding VSYNC bits or a flag should be a more appropiate way to do it)

yes
different scales for frequency, polycounters and volume make it hard, but not impossible.
-
... same technique as in 'lynx reloaded' tunnel effect and picture swirl. :-)
Q: I noticed that there are quirks on real hardware. Something fishy with double buffering?

Saubere Sache!
Beim Ankuendigen der Platform ist denen ja erstmal alles aus dem Gesicht gefallen ,-)

Who says it hasnt been done? Its just the fact that most people who can do that dont share ROMs, esp homebrews.

WHERE, WHERE, WHERE, WHERE ??? (but even so.....skipping to Level 100+ ?
Not that I have reached that yet....
Did not find the atariage topic anymore, but the links for the video and script which you have to run on your original rom.

I'd still "kill" for a text-viewer option to see level codes etc.
Orrrrrr a save-state of certain games would even be just as awesome....imagine playing Chips's Challenge without the hassle of having to enter the level code each time
Take the "hacked" version with level skip

I have a few really old *.COM Lynx RAM-download images I made back in 90's, and they don't work on Handy. Does anyone know how to convert them to *.o images? I don't recall the *.COM header format (if any), and don't see any visual marker bytes at the start of the binaries to indicate header fields. Sample file attached (don't worry, it's nothing impressive as it's a simple title screen program ). Thanks for any help!
Slightly related observation: Handy will recognize *.o files with the BS93 marker but not BS96. Once I manually changed a *.o file I had to have the BS93 marker, it worked.
what produces a BS96 header?
If I remember correctly, lynxer was able to convert both, but i never stumbled on any of these com files, thus I did not include it in lynxdir.

** tested on real hardware:
Didnt remember that there was a soundtrack.

no. working a bit-banging would require to add (enlarge) code. I could only do that patch because the original code size (and therefore jmp offsets) stayed the same
