Video Game Collector FRAUD
orion1052003 replied to orion1052003's topic in Gaming Publications and Websites
Well, I got a response from their unrelated distributor, saying videogamecollector will send me the mag I paid for, but they said to this distributor twice before they will look into it. Although they responded to him several times, not once did they respond to ME yet. Next step is the Better Business Bureau, as I'm not giving them even $7 bucks for nothing. And I see they did cash the check. Perhaps we should spread the word to other "Atarians" how they do business, so that their practices would spell no business for them, which is where those practices naturally lead. But it would be nice to not have others get taken..... -
http://www.vgcollector.com/ I sent Video Game Collector the money for a magazine, they cashed my check, and gave me nothing. They won't answer the phone, return emails, and still no response or mag after one of their distributors reminded and mentioned it to them. Anyone else have problems with them?

Albert, since you deal with the Atariage store, could you help me with VideoGameCollector? I bought issue #10,(sent a check),they cashed it, and I never got a magazine. I have emailed them repeatedly and no answer back. I tried calling the one number on their site and no answer or voicemail. I will try again as it may have been too late in the day. Are they generally shady or is this unusual for them? James

Albert, why is this thread locked? I posed the question in 2 separate places to increase the chances of an answer. Thanks a lot for the answer, too. I was just curious as to why it was locked, I must admit i don't know much about forums. It's the arcade game Pleiades: http://klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9045 I see you already asked this question in another thread. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=133154 Locking this thread. ..Al

What's the scoop on the Atari Movie? Is this the one that Howard Scott Warshaw said was in the works a few years back that was originally going to be a made for TV movie? Curt Thanks for wonderful picture of that never-to-find Atari handheld game. I have to ask you this question: Are you planning to release your new handheld gaming device when the much anticipated "Atari" movie debuts next summer? Please say yes!

What would be a great flashback project would be a Gameboy SP sized lynx that could accept the original carts.

I'm using the mac version of HANDY made by Richard Bannister. The emulator won't take the LYNXBOOT.img from Atariage and says it should be 50k or something rather than 4k. Anybody have it willing to share? I have hardware 2 Lynx ones and a bunch of games, including the one I'm trying to play on emulation. I bought the Lynx somewhere around 1991 I believe, back in the good ol days and all that. Another question is does anyone know of further HANDY ports beyond PC, Mac, and Palm devices? Not for consoles, but for other portables like Gameboy SP, Gameboy DS, or GP2X?

Wanted to make a comment on the flashback series.....I'm very appreciative of all the hard work as an atari fan and love the idea that work is still being done to produce something in 2008 and such in everyday stores...that is atari related. The bad part is so far, I've seen it tank. Frye's Electronics had a display sitting next to a PS2, and nobody bothered with it, and at Best Buy people actually checked out the display, but it wasn't a hot item. I work in retail, and we have old flashback 1s still sitting on shelfs markdown after markdown. I bought 2 of them and tested them out, and the original 30 year old Atari 2600 is infinitely better than these new ones with terrible controllers. and only a handful of games. The worst thing is when they try to do popular paddle games using joysticks. makes no sense. The nostalgia and niche market is there enough in the mainstream to sell this kind of product, but the average consumer is not getting enough to really move the product or keep him coming back. The nostalgia causes the buy and when actually using it, this wasn't exactly how I remembered it, or this isn't as fun as I remember, or as fun as the games I used to play kinda thing. With modern expectations to compare to a retro system, it must have tons of games for a very cheap price to be considered a worthwhile buy. And the much smaller niche of hardcore gamer atari fan isn't getting anything out of these systems he doesn't already have 10 times over. roms, controls, consoles, emulation, etc. So I figured this new handheld flashback was an awesome idea, because a portable could sell if it could be made cheap enough. For the hardcore gamer, that will buy it almost guaranteed, it definitely needs something to make the system open, whether it can accept a memory card or had an actual cartridge port. Something cool to make them need it or want it, something for the hardcore to get out of it. I'm sure Ben Heckendorn could be of great help as a consultant. My thought on all this is the flashback series is like a practice in hardware getting better and better over time. But the danger is the clueless big companies can kill the products that the hardcore try to create and steer in the right direction. I guess this is Curt, and I heard you dumpster dived an did all kinds of things to preserve Atari. So I wanted say thanks for all your hard work, and I am glad you did that.

Is Dave Comstock still out there working on the 5200 Cloak and Dagger? I filmed this at CGE of Dave talking about Cloak and Dagger 5200.

I filmed this at CGE of Dave talking about Cloak and Dagger 5200. Never heard from him again. Anyone know the status of the project? Great label on the thread. When the game comes out, It MUST have the label or it would kill the illusion, knowhutimean? Also, it would be worth extra money, although not as necessary, to have an extra chip with an easter egg video of the secret plane plans. It would complete the thing, though. And last thought, to get one copy to Henry Thomas! He'd get a kick out of that! Wargames the 25th anniversary was on recently at major theatres. nice! Similar to Cloak and Dagger, but the only game I know of is the colecovision and I think C-64 for Wargames.

You are so awesome. Those labels are great! The first is the box or an alternate label? I filmed this at CGE of Dave talking about Cloak and Dagger 5200. Never heard from him again.
