  1. *chuckle* recovering goth here too. only in the last two years have i voluntarily bought non-black clothing... grumble. going to a goth club saturday night, actually, that's gonna be fun - underneath this corporate whore shell there are still a few piercings and at least 60% coverage in tattoo ink here. that said, i have a black atari t-shirt, a black centipede t-shirt, a black space invaders t-shirt ("game over, you suck" on it - not atari, but hey), and, uhhhhh, my license plate is TRIKKY thanks to a certain GameCube game (and/or a certain trance-techno artist as well, come to think of it). Not to be caught stiffing a guest, after Cass gave Osmeroid his little Atari surprise form the USA, I gave Os a shiny gold Atari football(soccer) jersey. cheers jammadave
  2. I picked up: - a bit of a cold - a whole lot of alcohol - a renewed respect for the real philly cheesesteak - a hankering for a GBA SP yaaaay! Dave
  3. actually am trying to find details myself now. it's happening the week before my birthday and i've never been... hold tight, details on the way. dates: May 2-4, 2003 location: Merchant's Square S. 12th & Vultee Streets Allentown, PA 18103 from photos i've seen it's wall to wall pin tables but there may be arcades hiding somewhere around... here's the official site http://www.pinballwizardsconv.com/ i wanna go so badly i can taste it.
  4. hey Xot - you may have had a deal there... Marble Madness for 600 bucks is a good price IIRC (the PCB and control panel set alone go for 300+ and full machines go 7 to 9 or so) and Timber is one of the rare ones!!! cheers d
  5. mark, as a fellow no-fix-experience guy i can tell you that it doesn't *sound* difficult to do. Do you know how to solder? That's the only thing holding me back, personally. Oh, and patience, which i have none of when I wanna play a game =0) if you can use a voltmeter and a soldering station you're well on your way. a lot of fault finding is simple "volts/no volts?" and "how many volts?" which each lead to their own set of fixes. straightforward flow-of-electrons stuff. if the right amount of power gets where it needs to be then the game works fine. example, I have a KickMan arcade upright which doesn't work. Now, my best bud (cassidy n.) knows how to fix stuff electronically so I recruit him quite often to help out when i get a dead game. collectively the power supply has been rebuilt, the power board replaced, and the whole PCB stack has been replaced, all with the exact same result of garbage on the screen. So, the fault is somewhere in the wiring, i'd assume. In this case, i'll bet it's a simple fix if i felt like looking for the fault. But I don't, thats where the patience thing comes in. this may or may not help but there's one take on it =0) cheers dave
  6. hey guys! jammadave here. just poking around, anybody post up games FS or WTB around here? I'm asking because I'm in the following situation: - WTB monster bash pinball - FS creature from the black lagoon pinball - FS busted but gorgeous Kickman upright am located near wash DC. you'll notice no Atari coinops up here, because i'm keepin'em! =0) I'll have to say, Atari's coinop games always are just hard enough to tick me off... and keep me comin back for more. one of these days i'd love to have an Empire Strikes Back and a Crystal Castles, but the gameroom just aint big enough. (i'd trade my near-mint Asteroids toward the ESB though) cheers dave
  7. hey curt - i dont think i have ever actually officially met you, suffice it to say that i've seen you and know who you are all too well though =0) My Warlords being that height actually arose out of necessity. When you have two pinball machines, three uprights and a cocktail in a gameroom that is 10'x11', space is at a premium. Since I didn't have the floor space to put 4 chairs with Warlords, I decided to raise it up to standup height. I made a template using the old bottommost hole as the new upper hole and Cassidy drilled out new holes for the bottom bolt on each side. Works like a charm and i personally love playing standing up, even if it is a cocktail. Space Dungeon I actually played a couple times and it was running fine. It's interesting, now I know exactly what it would be like to play Berzerk with Robotron controls =0) *sigh* now if only all you cool peeps were gonna be at the allentown pinball show... cheers dave
  8. This was my third phillyclassic and I have to say it was really great to meet you guys. I was the short guy with beard and blonde hair at Cassidy's booth, and while not officially an atariage regular, I felt right at home. Thoughts from this perspective: - people, people, people! - meeting everybody was a blast even if i didn't already know you from the forums. Osmeroid was the coolest limey I've ever met and he fit in well with our crew, Chickybaby was incredibly sweet as the social butterfly while Z28 was agog at the games, Xot as someone else said was frantic AND friendly, plus MMF and his better half, and Tempest (how the hell did you eat so many death dogs?!?!?), and the list goes on. - big props to David Newman and the incredible little things that made it all special. Never thought there'd be so much like the projection screens for the Xbox and GCN, special guests like Cindy, and the nifty costume contest. - the food was dismal as usual, i tried one of their cheesesteaks and immediately had to run out to buy a real one to counteract the effect! The fridge at the atarionline booth was mine, by the way =0) - was disappointed with the turnout though, it seemed the vendors were just able to swap "stuff" with the other vendors and all the good dealing was done on friday. Maybe that's why so many vendors packed it in early - all the deals were done and there wasn't a real influx of new people to keep one motivated, maybe? For the "show" pieces that's not a problem, but for people trying to make sales that may have been a catalyst. 1200 people last year made for a great time for vendors and showoffs alike =0) - for once in my life i didn't convince myself i *had to have* anything. well, except maybe a GBA SP. But I didn't spend a dime on games this year, I spent it all on food and drinks =0) - and i'm glad people liked my Warlords cocktail. Never thought i'd ever see TWO in one place! mine was the taller one, over by space dungeon. Cheers and if i forgot anything i'll post it up. Dave
  9. hey guys - I have a problem with an emulator frontend called GameLauncher. Have posted to BYOAC, AGM, etc but Cassidy said I should try you guys out. NOTE: Glauncher not only handles MAME, but Stella, z26, and Genesis and NES emulators as well, it's a beautiful frontend that i almost have working really well. ahem... Why the heck does Glaunch stop and actually say "pause" at the command line, both before playing and after exiting a game??? I cannot find a pause command or its associated ascii scancode anywhere in the program's cfg files and whatnot! also - while Glaunch itself has sound and works fine, each game has barely audible sound. WTF?!?! Thanks in advance - "jamma" dave PS - greetings also to Stan Jr, whom I met when hanging with Cassidy at PhilyClassic.
