I don't like the EMu's becouse.. well. I could never really get them to work right.. MESS was a pain in the ass, and the "official" emulator.. well I could never get the damn display to work right.. and when it did.. it sucked.. this really IS a system.. where you NEED the original hardware to really appreciate it, a rastar monitor is diffrent from a Vector monitor, and well.. that just all there is to it.. you can't explain it to anyone till you see it first hand. now if there was some type of way to import some old vector MAME games into the VECT.. that would be nice. its been so long since I 've seen original Asteroids, or Reactor on a real Vector screen

allright that rocks Jen.. you got a keeper there!.. personaly.. virtually every nintendo I have.. I got for the wife just so she can play zelda.. I got the VB for me ($15 complete!) and introduced her to it.. but she didn't get fully into it on account she has a bad stigmatism or whatever it is when theres a dead spot in ones vision.. lets face it.. if you get headaches off of VB with good vision..this things going to be MURDER if you got that problem.. not to mention..theres not a zelda title for it but isn't it nice to have a spouce that not only puts up with the weirdness.. but also encourages it? -
I don't like the hyperspace not only becouse of the randomness, but also the reach on the thumb to do so, just not a fluid movement, and then I misplace my grip when I should be looking.. so next thing y'know.. I'm thrusting into something I should be firing at. the fact that the stick on my vec is busted onthe X-Y ( thats up and down, right?) axis doesn't help either.. but servicible on minestorm

oh yeah.. my top score so far is 70K around level four.. I've actually taken the stradigy to remove the smart mines before the dumb ones as I can easily enough avoid those.. keep 'em big and they're not a problem the smart mines I take out immeditly.. shoot out to get some distance and double shot to kill the fireball. and being good to be startigic in my shooting to avoid the wrap around effect and having a fire ball coming from somewhere I'm not expecting. I can reguraly get to the magnetic smart mines.. that's when its starting to get rally hairy for me now Thanks for the links! I need to check them out!

well.. I wouldn't call it gay porn persay.. but..thats was the first release of the game.. apperntly there was a gay coder over at maxis that wasn't too pleased with the entire corporate process. in any case..the game is set to go off when it's internal clock reads friday the 13th, then all heall breaks loose.. all the people turn in to pixilated prostitutes, male and female and start flocking your pilot trying to kiss him. also the flying saucer is out and going appy levitiating and throwing people.. abducting en mass, and seting the whole place on fire.. also a lot of times people will levitate into your copter.. its actually kinda amusing yes.. I have a copy and have played around with it to see what the fuss was all about.. but yet I don't have the new GTA game.. abut as I understand it.. the porn aint a mod.. but an easter egg? a mod would imply that yer downloading and installing something.. but the Hot coffee thing is allready in there.. just needs to be unlocked?

yep.. finnaly got one myself the other day.. I'm amazed at the price dropping on fleabay lately onthese things.. I always wanted one as a kid.. and its been something I've been hankering for as a grown up colelctor. no external games yet... but I'm working onthe mindstorm and those magnetic fireball mines are a pain in the ass! the joystick on the croller is however missing its little nub at the end and the up down axis on the stick is just floating there... or is it actaully supposed to be like that? na.. of course it isn't I need to crack it open and take a look.. thankfully it doesn't effect the game play of mind storm... now all I need to do is get the light pen.. -

Maybe we don't want no stinkin' RFID chips on our merchandise (I think Wal-Mart requires RFID chips on all products these days)...pretty kooky reason, eh? 898575 all the packages, and a master on the pallet.. just for tracking invintory.. goes from everything on down to P.O.S. RFID the new UPC, get on board, or get out of the way. why have someone witha hand held bar scanner clicking everything off when you can just pass the entire pallet through a yoke and have everything check in itself? -

Those Beta VCRs have been selling pretty well on ebay.. I added them to my thrift "watch list" long ago, but have yet to come across one. 896891 You mean that you are looking for this specific model? I wonder if it's the uber cheeziness of the vinyl that makes it more valuable, or that it happens to also be a good unit. Don't Beta decks tend to start at $50 or so on Ebay? It's the first time I've ever seen anything remotely like this one. In all of my thrifting, I've seen very few Beta decks overall. I never had one, but lots of my friends did and they have great oild crap taped off TV that I'd really like to see. I'm hoping that eventually one of these decks will actually work. This monster is the newest-looking of all the I've brought home, so I'm hoping that it still actually does stuff - like play the Beta copy of "1984" that I picked up on the same day. 896909 from my experiences, betas are great machines that are fairly reliable. and all and all really were supior to VHS. keep in mind.. Sony only just stop making betas last year. and that s becouse digital took over.. Beta was an industry standard forever. however.. I think theres still a pretty high demand for beta on the civilian market becouse of the copious amounts of porn that was put off in the format. you can still find old ma and pa video stores liquidating thier old stock of beta porn to this day.. not to mention they were used in buddy booths for thier reliability and content -
You mean like this? http://www.coinopvideogames.com/sounds.html 895090 Very cool. What a nostalgic blast hearing those recordings. I'll have to go through and listen to my favorite games. Sounds like there are some funny conversations on those too. "I'm running out of time on this guy" "Hurry up idiot!" AND "Hey, they hid a game back here!" 895121 c'mon what about right at the end where the kid laghs and said "OH!.. we suck!"

they did that for tossing accross the room at spouces... y'know.. to help minimalise the impact of domestic abuse -
My guesss would be that the EHT Trippler is winding up to a voltage at which point it is arcing to something and discharging itself - but thats just a guess. Try taking the cover off and truning it on in the dark, you should be able to roughtly where the arcing is comming from/to but remember to stand well back. 890926 intersesting.. I'm going to have to give that a try.. . I consoluted with my good freind and chief maintence man at the brewery whose an even worse tech horder than I about the problem.. he has a monitor with a weak gun but good guts.. so our plan right now is to try to swap out the guts.. basicly a fun time blow something up learning experience type of thing.. its good to have freinds in cahoots for this type of thing. your advice has been printed and shall be taken in consideration. as always..the approach is to work smarter, and not harder dont confuse power strips with surge protectors.. a regular power strip with a breaker is not a surge protector..the real deals are big ass expensive things and do little or no good against such occurances. also, I've found that UPS's are really no good unless they are rated at least 500 watts.. 800 is preferable.. 1500 is the best. we just had a mess of thunder storms roll through the area and of course the brewery went with the lowest bidder on the P.O.S sytem and after three flickers in the supply.. the entire network is down, and the techies are having a bitch of a time getting it back on line. the UPS's did nothing to protect the entegrity of the networkat least the system isn't "dead" just crippled

and damnet.. it was my best CRT, nice twenty inch at that. I'm thinking a brown out hit it.. as I had my main computer go out a week before, and a freind's inthe nieghbor hoods computer fry out on him as well.. needless to say.. I'm on a UPS now... but that's besides the point... check it out.. know how when you have a computer turned off and the monitor goes to "sleep" the little light on the power button will flash? well.. on this monitor its basicly trying to power up on the flashing light, but each time it does this ..theres this loud BZZZ-ATT! with a flash accross the screen like the gun is firing.. but the powers not holding.. what do y'all think? completly dead? or a power supply issue? now keep in mind.. I'm very aware of the dangers that lurk in the hearts of CRT's. I'm just querring advice on the state of things.. think the tubes still good and is there any chance in hell of bring this beast back from the dead? and yes.. I'm also well aware that CRT's are cheap as hell as well.. but then.. so am I thank y'all for your advice in advance

Step 1: Cut traces to disable onboard games Step 2: solder cartridge connector to PCB Step 3: modify case for cartridge slot Step 4: Play your cartridges Optional Step 5: Wire a toggle switch to traces to enable/disable onboard games/cartridge slot 888262 i understand how to cut the traces, just take like a small X-Acto knife and cut throurg em. now how do i wire somthing to them?????? Also, do we have to cut the rods to add in the ribbon wire? 888707 I wouldnt worry about the rods at all.. as for the cutting of the trace to disable the preloads.. you just need to attach the switch to the place where you cut the trace a micro on/off toggle should be fine.. so all you have to do is either flip the switch on or off to enable or disable the circut you cut just like a light switch in your wall.. the switch breaks the positive current going to the light bulb while the negitive remains intact.. so cut the trace.. you got a cart port.. leave it intact, you got the onboard games. installing the switch allows you to reestablish the cut trace -

I'm going to make it a personal rule that in order to be "authentic", you've got to use one of those rainbow colored ribbon cables from the 80's - if you can still find one. 888114 no no.. I wanna keep all things galager and Mork and mindy away from my hardware at all costs -

BeerGnome replied to Jetboot Jack's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
That was the original intent, but the single sided board design to keep costs down prohibited the routing of the lines to make such a mod that convenient, so the contact points will need to be soldered with a ribbon cable to a cart connector. Curt 888061 oh thats still going to be fine though. I'm assuming in old IDE cable is going to be fine.. a little extra work.. but even a novice should be able to pull that off in an hour or so. and for those novices out there.. the best way to do that.. by my experience is to start withteh red wire as your #1 wire, split them back and bend each one so they alternatie in diresction.. anchor the one wire then youll be able to manipulet every thing else fairly easily. now is there going to be a need to install some type of switch or cut any traces to be able to acces this functionality, or will be installing the cart port allow you to overide the onscreen menue and go directly to the cart? -

now heres another stupid question about the board.. will the cart port area be actually drilled and contacted out? as in all I have to do is drop the port in and flow it together? for those that are not solder freindly.. relax.. its really not all that difficult.. just get the right guage rosin core solder, a little bit of flux paste really helps, and a nice steady hand with a pen iron is all you need. as far as I can tell this mod is just adding a part, and its really just going to be a drop n place type of operation with no real need to know exactly what yer doing and the whys and hows and whats -
loyd emaild me back and quoted me $65 for a empty frogger, I think thats pretty reasonable. my buddy who has all this stuff however liked my idea of putting the guts into a cocktail cab and setting it up in the dart room at the pub. and we do have all the guts to this thing, coin bos and everything.. tim everyonce in a while hooks it all up to an old RGB monitor and plays it for a couple of hours
