naw.. thats just ugly.. I'm still working on my shoehorning..
I've pretty much got everything inthe case.. its a matter of disabling the original keyboard.. and making an auxillery board and mouse work with the original hardware.. and all this is in set up.. but the original computer is some gate way shit so its being all ornery with me.. if it had a CD rom drive.. I'd just wipe the hard drive and start fresh

I remember the Sears catalog. It was a close as you could come to surfing the web for goodies. I can't imagine what Sears spent on printing.-Bry
tell me about it.. I have a sears catalog from 1903!
Sears had everything in the damn place.. from houses to "electro fitness belts" that I still see on the Infomercials TO THIS DAY!
its even more amazing that I have this publication considering at the time it was estimated that upwards of 70% of these catalogs were lost to outhouses
thats right.. toilet paper

sp yer saying my ten thousand packets of soy and duck sauce is a frivilous persuit?
IO see where y'all are coming from my biggest issue is the fact that I just plain have too many collections of this that or the other thing..
right now.. I'm plunking more change into the homey machine at the grocery store than I am thrifting, fleaing, or rummaging for carts.
I'm also obsessed with vntage lamps.. the tackier the better..
vintage computers wich is slow to take off.. I'm still looking for that old Kaypro 64 portable I had eons ago
Beer bottles from around the world.. most spicificly.. I really need to go there to get these bottles..so far Ive been pub crawling the united states for them bottles.
I'm also trying to grab up a mug from every single year that the richmond virginia german american sportsclub octoberfests.. this is a bit of a challange considering they have been going on since the mid sixties.. and its a local obsession.. I can't really get on Ebay to find these things..
I also breed and raise scorpians.. gold fish.. and garden..
someday I 'll open up a curio shop.. maybe when I retire

hmm.. you might have better luck with this topic in the Coin ops section
-
yup.. do not be afraid to dumpster dive.. worst thing that can happen is you'll wake up the bum or get bit by a rat

allright.. lets get down to basics before craking that puppy open.. have
first.. make sure your channel selector is right.. either 3-4 make sure the television corrisponds
next, have you checked for propper power?
are you using the original atari power supply, or are you useing an aftermarket power supply?
If you have a multimeter you might want to check the power supply connector the tip is positive... and the outer ring is negative.
you should get a DC reading around 9volts out of that puppy..
if this isn't the case then you most likely have a dead PS..
so now you run out to radio shack or someplace like that and get your self a little ol' selectable power supply.. set it for 9 volts.. and make sure your polarity is correct and give that a whirl.
if the power proves to not be the issue
now yer going to consider cracking that puppy open.
now.. if you have issues with shocking yourself whenever you get out of the car.. you might want to consider grounding yourself before you handle the board.
while yer at this.. you might as well and go ahead and replace the RF cord. this is just any standard RCA male to male cord that you use to connect componant 's on your stereo or Video equipment.. you might need to trim the positive tip on the end that goes into the board.. just make sure its firmly seated..
now were going to go back to the power.. check out were the power plug connects into the main board
check to make sure that all the connections are firmly seated to the main board.. check for any irregularities in the solder joints.. make sure that the actual connection points in the jack are functioning correctly and are free of rust
oh.. and storm.. welcome to the boards! you'll find a wealth of information on lots of topics relating to the hard and software.. and if my advice doesn't help.. there are many others on the boards that can help you out with other issues that maybe presented to you..
most likely your system is not fried.. its pretty hard to kill these critters

There were many many exclusive games as I understand it.A LOT of the late games were Sega Channel exclusives, in America anyways.
Things like Megaman: Wily Wars.
and theres probably no way in hell any of these games are going to see the light of day on the emu scene I would imagine

cool beans!!! thats not the sega stick i have, mine is not an offical sega product, the word dominator is ringing a bell, but now im gonna goto the wearhouse bring it back and post it, maybe you might know if its compatible, plus i think buttons light up on it
i will be back!!!

sounds like the sega arcade controller.. I use it.. I love it
you use the "B" button for fire and It has rapid fire for going batshit on asteroids and the like

now.. how well it will work for you being a lefty.. I have no idea.. it seems pretty much geared up for the the righties
another stick I like to use is the one that shipped with the sears video arcade.. that has duel fire buttons.. and the paddle is built into the stick, so with that you really dont have to warry about switching controllers between joy and paddle games.
Now.. what I would like to see is a Homebrew that mixes functionality of the oystick and the paddle just to take advantage of this controller
-
I love playing the simpsons arcade.. and tahnks to my Side winder game pads.. i can now play two player.
I'm pretty sure its my computer.. but I have to turn the sound off for the game to make it run aprciably
over all the mame version runs decent with sound.. but the sound is jumpy and effects frame rate.. turn off the sound.. fantastic..no problem
-
I Loved Baby Pacman when it came out.. dumpped a lot of quarters in that one at the 7-11 when I was a kid..
I haven't seen one in years and I would love to own one one day..
However.. I hear they were really buggy and prone to early deaths?
-
my collecting is just collecting the games I want.. mostly.. the games I can play for hours on end and enjoy doing it.. consiquentially.. my collection is ful of some obscure games. but fun games..
basicly.. I'm not going to get a $300+ game unless I find it in the wild.. and I will snake the person selling it for under $5 thats the thrill
its the thrill of the hunt my freind.. and E-bay is not a hunt.. you put on some search words and yer liable to find it.. and if you dont.. wait a couple of weeks..
just so you know .. most of the really really rare games worth a lot of money.. arent neccesarly good games.. the majority of the ultra rares came out during the dying days of the console.. when games were made.. but not a lot were produced becouse the demand was low..
there area lot of shitty games out there.. and there area lot of shitty games out there that were put out that are fetching insanly high prices now just becouse they are rare in production count.
however.. if you love playing the games.. and the games you like playing are popular.. you'll have no problem ammasing apersonal fortune of killer ass games.. in an appreciable.. frugal manner
-
Not only is it completly ethical but also make freinds with your local garbage man and Apartment property managers and turn over guys..
also do not be afraid to do a little dumpster diving now and then..
-
I personaly own Two Gennies.. and almost as many games for it as I have atari... damn things area everywhere.. time beofre last I was thrifting.. there were three genny consoles on the rack.. a whole mess of games.. but that wasn't the point of hunting.. so I passed it all up.
to be quite frank.. I have all this gennie stuff becouse it fell in my lap.. I haven't paid a dime for any of it, and honestly.. I'm not that big of a fan of the console.. I have a 32x for it.. but no games.. and no way of hooking it up.. I'm missing all the fancy cables..
-
OOkkkk lets see I got a phat ass stereo with 5" subs 5 disc cd changer and the whole 9 yards no portables and on my computer the earphone jack is on the speakers.allright.. so where the hell is the atari?
if its close to the computer..
like say in my normal setup.. I run the atari into a TV card on the computer.. and display the results in the TV application..
now.. if you have a head phone jack on your computer speakers.. there you go!. other wise a lot of speakers have one speaker with an amp, and the other an input.. usually the one with out the amp is the one with the input.. so you unplug the wire that connects the two speakers together and plug the super charger into the speaker with the direct input from the computer.
but.. if this is not possible.. a lot of portable CD players run under thirty dollers nowadays.. invest a little man ITS ATARI FOR CIMMINY SAKES!
now finding a new cassette player for the original tape games? I've found that to be quite the challange as of late.. My home tape player is on the fritz.. and I've only managed to find one cheap ass walk man to adiqutly do the job at the GROCERY store of all places $10.99 and for some reason.. it seems like too much damn money to pay for a shitty cassete walkman
-
Rock on art.. you beat me to the rant

-
It's weird thst this thread is now about beer steins
eeh.. I think were all pack rats to some degree or another around here
vintage games is an extension of my fasination for antiquated computers and hardware.
but the consoles and games is the number one collection for me at the moment..
this is one of the dangers of being intimatly attached to a vintage clothing and antiques store.. just so much coll shit comes thru
-
see.. now yer giving me a bad Idea..
start collecting printed glasses from defunct breweries
a lot of the problem with some of the little guys is they spend to much time and energery promoting the product then they do on the product itself
hell.. Legend didnt start embossing glasses till last year.. pretty much after we got the big local market share and was able to crank out a scale of bottles that would meet expanded market demand including being sold at TWO large scale Grocery store chains..
hmm.. defeunct brewery glasses. like.. little second place trophies..
-
is it This one?
if it is.. the bidding has just started on this item.. and it might be interesting to see what it does
-
Do you have any idea if beer steins are worth anything?I've got a sweet porcelain one of Adolphus Busch. It was released by Budweiser and isn't too old. I was just wondering if it would ever be worth anything. I got it free from where I work, which happens to be a distributor of Bud products and soda.
Stiens are very collectable.. particualry if they are old and german.
I need to see a picture of this.. is this a character stien? as in you say adolphus bucsh.. does this stien look like yer drinking a barely pop out of the mans hollowed out skull? ( great visual Eh!? )
considering it is of a maor manufacturer helps and hurts.. the big boys pump out ass loads of memorbilia but AB has done this for eons.. and a lot of memorbila that is the most saught after were distributer give aways to custimers.. as in bar owners and distribution houses..
so.. if this IS a pice of memerobila that was only made in limited numbers and ONLY made as give aways to distributors such as the company you work for.. you might well indeed have something of value on your hands.
sounds like a creative search is called for on Ebay.. try Breweriana

well.. over all it was a great day for "stuff"
I went out to funcoland in search of more sega arcade controllers and came back with a twently doller N64 instead.
I found a 1985 German sportsclub octoberfest Mug 1985.. there are now 6 in my collection.. these guys are only made for richmond.. and they only make 5000 a year.. and they've been doing it since the early seventies..
being the beer hound, and half german.. and a proud Richmond native.. these are gold mines.. I found this mug sitting beside the toilet in the back of the antique store my girlfreind works out buried under a mess of debree I can only imagine how many times Ive sat there on that toilet with that damn thing an inch from my foot.
I also got fifteen more Homies for that collection

and collectivly me and the girl acquired the most GOD AWFUL tacky lamp you can imagine I only wish I had a digital camera for this one

Wow. . . quite a few Commodore monitors being used. I never had a monitor for my Commodore, just used the same TV since the beginning. Is there any difference with the monitor, versus the TV?its got a better picture tube than a regular TV.. but over all.. its just a composite monitor.. basicly.. A tlevision with out a tuner..
but for video payback monitoring.. they are incedable.. I used one for years hooked up to a VCR for my bedroom Television
if you get a chance to pick one up.. I highly recomend it
my old monitor still works..but after about ten minutes.. the picture fades out to black and is unusable, being the pack rat I am.. I have it religated to the museom of antiquated equipment/ Brewing paraphanlia room
-
well.. inspired by previous post in this thread.. I went out to funcogamestopland to see if there were any more arcade controllers..
they had some wiered ass knock off looking third party things.. but not the official Sega arcade three button rapid fires.
these things from the get go just didnt feel right in my hands.. even though I could've grabbed them for a couple of bucks a piece.. I had to let them go
but hell.. when I was there.. check this shit out..
N64's.. 19.99 comes with a choice of either a free expansion pack or free extra controler.
I couldn't pass it up, and its green.. a very flattering color for a redhead like myself.
so me and the harpy picked up a Copy of Zelda, the orcana of time, and a game shark..
so now we need to figure out how this shark works.. ( cant get it to boot the cart when its in use ) and the harpy needs to figure out how to use an anolog joystick.. another thing that also infurates me..
I hate that chase camera perspective forced to use analog thing.

oh I'm having such a blast playing Gyrus
I can't belive the music score in the game the graphics are to be expected but arcade to atari.. its a really nice port
if its any consilation Mega.. the label is peeling
and really.. I can see Kiss having thier own game ( do they) but... JOURNEY!?!
hell .. they played a free show here in town last week.. maybe we can re -write the code so you score by running INTO the groupies, roadies and paparazi?
-

I also picked up a copy of Batman Forever for the Harpies Super Nintendo

a think it was a good find.. it defintly bossted my collection
now to check the guide to see if anythings a crazy rarity

project 2600 case and add PC
in Atari 2600

another interesting idea would be to take a original VCS main board.. remove the switch part of the board and locate that in the original location.
now you desolder and reroute the cartridge port and mount that in its original location.
then you mount the VC Main board inside the case in a location as such to not interfere with the new Mini ATC board. at this point you would also have to have a video capture card to accept the audio and video information from the VCS
in iether case.. I havent seen a power supply that you can shoe horn into a VCS case. so a laptop with everything on board would have to surfice if you want EVERY thing in there. other wise.. I would just inclose the PS into its own little box and plug that into the back of the VCS with an appropiate internal jumper to the board.
my project is pretty slow going at the moment.. Rent appears to be more important than wierd ass mods
