    Nintendo offered Atari the rights to distribute the NES in America - Atari declined.

      Had Atari taken up Nintendo, we'd have NES with keyboard and disk drive and no 7800 at all ever. Odds are SMS might have sold better.

      I'd always heard they might buy it and then tuck it away so they could release the 7800...But this was before anyone realized it would be a runaway success.
