It makes sense, since several of the older Pong systems had built-in speakers, too. They used the TV only for the picture.

In retrospect, I'm really curious to know why they did that. Later systems had no trouble using the same RF modulators to send audio AND video to the TV, so was there a specific reason why the Pongs didn't do this? (1970s FCC regulations, perhaps?)

My Fairchild is that way...I think my Pong unit is too now that ya mention it...Haven't pulled Pong out of the parent's closet in 30 some years!
