  1. Check the following:

The cart slot, could have something in it, you'll need to remove the cartridge guide plastic over it.

Check the pins, the 1984 versions have contacts with high tensile strength, the later units had thinner and weaker pins and they can push back over time, using a jeweler's screwdriver you can nudge them a little back towards the center and make sure they are making a strong contact with the cartridge.

If the console has a dark grey appearance on the screen and both 7800 AND 2600 carts are not working, Ive found that many times it is a failed 6502 processor. If it were only 7800 games not working and just 2600, that would point to a failed MARIA chip (when 2600 games are played, they would play, but the screen would look slightly washed out)

The lines down the screen seems to point to bad data lines and may just be the cartridge connector. If you need a replace Best Electronics still sells them for around $5-$6 each.

I had just got in a power supply for a spare 7800 I have, so i plugged it in popped in pacman collection game and it worked. I tried the system before with my personal 7800 and she worked fine.

I played it for a few minutes, then i took it out and put in space invaders. the start up screen came on then froze, color was off. but maybe black and white just very dull.

So i powered down took out the game popped it back in, and now its just either black screen, or white and sometimes those verticle lines. the games themselves are fine, because I tried them on my other machine just to make sure.

I opened it up took a look didn't see anything fried so maybe a bad rom chip????

    any ideas?

    hi Curt

I took it apart cleaned it up like Gorf said, and I nudged the pins forward, both sides. put her back together, but nothin!

I'm going to have to look at the blue prints here on the site to see which one is the 6502 and get one.....can you still get them????? Will best electronics have them???

  2. "Aye captain! the engines...they cannot take the strain!"

Have you looked at the cart slot? Perhaps something got fouled

up in there? Use my credit card trick to clean out the slot.

FIRST!!!! Look in there with a light of some sort and make sure

no pins are bent or nothing is jammed.

Get an old credit card and wrap it in an old Tshirt type cloth.

Dip that cloth in contact lens cleaning fluid(probably the safest

thing as alcohol can corrode). Gently insert it in the slot going

up and down as you hold tight the t-sirt wrapped over the card.

Also go very slowly side to side.

Now cut up the card to fit in any smaller keyed spots and do

the same. this is how I keep my Jag happy. :)

EDIT: Clean off all your carts afterward so you dont foul up

the slot again with anything that might be on those pins. Use

    the same solution and qtips.

ok I tried your method and I like it. but it didn't work. Still the same thing happens.

I used an old swipe card from work and cut it up. maybe if I used my credit card it might of worked!!!! :ponder:

  3. Which Space Invaders? the 2600 version or the one Bob made for us a while back?

    First run of ideas...

Is the power supply kicking out the right voltage? I would think if it failed it would kick out zero, though.

Is the power socket loose on the 7800? How about your other power supply, have you tried that one in the non working machine? Once again, I'm not sure it would change anything, but it's worth a shot.

Is the port damaged in any way?

    the S.I.'s Bob made us!

    well the one bought says

    input:120v 60hz 16w

    output: 9v dc 1A

    DVE DV -91A

    mine says

    120v 60hz 15w

    9v dc 1A

    SA 9-10

    power socket is fine

I did try my power brick with the non working machine and same results powers up but thats it.

  5. that funny because, when I was young I used to have a colecovision. And I guess over the years I must have forgotten about it, well when Nintendo came out I must have lost interest.

Just before Christmas, I went to my parents place for the weekend. went ot my brothers room and I seen a colecovision sitting on his desk. I figured he must have bought one from a thrift store or something, then I look somemore and I reconized a green pastic box I opened it and my jaw dropped. It was my old coleco stuff.

So i ask my dad where he had it, and he replied "it was in the basement" Fitting cause my dad is a pack rat, and has alot of junk. So anyways O was looking through the games; Gyruss, buck rogers, omega race, star wars, and a rare one BC's quest for tires.

So took her home cleaned it up fired her up and still works good. only had one controller and the 20 pound power supply was missing, but went down to retro store we have here and I knew they had one.

Even though i have another one, this machine brought back alot of memories.

Wonder what else my dad has of mine :ponder:

  6. !!!

    Go Roland!

Merry Xmas man. Nathan, I didn't think I would read that either.

    thanks :)

I'm now working on the scaling drones/ships/whatever they are called. I decided to start with big scaling squares to represent the ships. WARNING, It's still full of bugs, but it gives an impression of uhh.. how the ships would look if you would replace them by squares :D

Just look at the upper playfield and move forward/backward.

    the ships are called "Rotofoils"!!

Roland your doing a great job

  7. hey guys I just got an email from him:

  8. hey guys, so lastnight I emailed him about the pacman, asteriods , and quadrun games, I gave him a sorta sob story"

hi, will you ship to canada? and how much?

also you said on your text, that two of the games are missing labels. and have tape on them saying the title. Now I have been burned before with something like this, someone made and or put labels on cartridges and passed them off as hard to get games, and they were not. You seem to have great feedback, and I hope to do buisness with you. I want to look out for myself. No hard feelings???

just wondering could you takes pics of the 3 games you are selling pacman quadrun and asteriods if possible??

    thanks

    Here's his response:

Id really like to stick with US shipping. I really have no clue on the games, or if they even work, because i dont have a player to try them. They were in a bunch of stuff i got from an estate sale and im slowly listing everything. Sorry but i dont have a cam right now so i cant take pics. Thanks

So there you have it :?
