  1. Have one of the old Dreamcast Kiosks now, and was looking for someone who may have a bundle of games they'd be looking to get rid of. Saw a lot here a little while back of something around 100 of them without cases, but I was too late. :P

If anyone had a bundle they are looking to get rid of, PM me!!!

    Thanks!

    Chrissy

  2.

Welcome back Feisty you already know I missed ya. Veccy says hi too.8p

Whoohoo! Hi guys, missed you too!!!

I did post something in the Sega Age and Nintendo Age sites, but I'm not a member (yet) of Sega 16.

Sorry, but I (well technically hubby) just won a one-of-a-kind Genny flash cart, so I need to break it in properly. :P

  3. Hey everyone!

Title says it all! Looking for a Sega Nomad modded with a newer LCD. Battery mod works too, but ultimately I'm more interested in the LCD screen.

I also have a Nomad already, so if anyone does the mod, or knows someone who does, that works too!

  4. When Curt and I took the contract, we set off to put in a hell of a lot of attention to detail and I put in a hell of a lot of passion in to these. And to have that rewarded with BS like this - to have it summarily dismissed by someone who doesn't have a clue that skill levels usually mean altered game play - unbelievable. I'm getting an inkling of what HSW went through with his games, and I'm truly feeling sorry for him now.

Don't get too fired up over his trolling...

Most of us who have had a chance to play these (I picked up 6 sets!) really do appreciate the time and effort that went into these games. The attention to detail from the Evolved modes right down to the packaging is absolutely wonderful.

You guys did a fantastic job, and should be VERY proud of what you accomplished. It's a great nostalgic trip, and hopefully will get some of the younger crowd interested in their gaming roots!

  5. You have NO idea how much I want this!!! If I had the money right now it would be sold!

Last year after almost a decade of searching I actually won one, but the seller LITERALLY went crazy before shipping it and I got screwed.... he claimed something like he was selling everything to fund a project he was selling the government for a billion dollars... he was well known in the collector circle, and his feedback was 100% before I bid... then it all went to hell. :(

  6. The original Toaster NES does have A/V outputs on the side, so you can have nice video and audio. The audio isn't stereo, but you can get a Y adapter to push the sound to your left and right speakers/channels.

Holy crap, how in the world did I miss that??? :dunce:

I've been so caught up with the NES 2 I didn't even think to recheck my old Toaster...

Looks like all I need is the Extra Sound Channel mod then :P

  7. The sound channels are only hackable into a toaster NES,

not the toploader as there isnt an expansion port.

You also need to mod the Famicom adapter.

    Also the A/V Famicom is rubbish unless you only intend to use Famicom games on it;

as the NES games with adapter are to heavy and easy freeze.

The US version of Castlevania doesnt have extra sound channels,

and usually only disk system games allow for extra sound channels.

Maybe 3 cart games on famicom actually use the sound channels,

I am unsure if a cart of Castlevania on Famicom does.

    Thanks Deadly!

Yep there are 2 main reasons I want this unit:

    a) To use the Powerpak

    b) To play Akumajyou Densetsu (Jap Castlevania 3) with the additional sound channels

As I understand it, when pumping Akumajyou Densetsu through the Powerpak, due to the mapper emulation, only the mod on the Toaster needs to be done to get the extra channels.

However, the Toasters don't have A/V inputs, which I am now spoiled by. RF is just too nasty on my TV.

Clones are no good either, as the Powerpak only works with real hardware.

Hence, I am either looking for:

    a) an AV Famicom (extra channels and AV built in) I've got an NES>Famicom adapter, so I would make it work!

    b) an AV/Sound channel modded Toaster

I'd be totally happy with either. And would be totally in debt to whomever could help me.

someone make me an offer I can't refuse!

    :lust:

  8. Did a rather large transaction with Chris that was pretty complicated, but he was professional and had great communication! Definitely one of the best I've done business with, and would do it with him again anytime! :D

  9. Hey everybody!

I am looking for an A/V Famicom, the Japanese version of the NES 2 with the A/V inputs and extra sound channels only available in the Japanese systems.

    OR

an NES, either regular or Top Loading, with both an A/V mod, and the mod to allow the extra audio channels.

The A/V mod doesn't have to be stereo, but I definitely want the extra sound channels! (I am a Castlevania junkie!)

If anyone has a spare they are looking to get rid of, or even know of anyone who can do the mod for me, I would appreciate it! (I own both a toaster and a Top Loader)

  10.

Actually, the system itself does support stereo sound, why they packed in a mono AV cable is beyond me (to shave a penny off the price?) but you can get the cables. Luckily, one of my old cameras came with exactly that cable (which is odd, cause the camera could clearly NOT pick up stereo sound :P

Hey were you able to confirm that this works?

I picked up a stereo adapter to plug in a pair of normal headphones (i.e. ipod headphones)

It still only plays mono, except now it only comes out of one speaker!

Anyone able to get stereo out of this thing? If so I am all ears!

  11. OK I was confused earlier and looking for the wrong item.

I'm looking for the adapter that allows you to play USA NES games on Famicom hardware.

Basically I can get a Famicom clone for dirt cheap, but I want to be able to use my NES games on it.

Anyone got one or know where to find one?

  12. Does anyone have a spare Famicom to NES converter cart? I know a lot of the first generation NES games had them included on the inside, but I have been unable to find any locally.

If anyone has a spare I would GREATLY appreciate it.

    Chrissy

You sir, just made my day!!!! :lust:

I'm off to find an adapter!!! :P

  14. OK I've been playing with mine for a few days now, and here is my laundry list of likes/dislikes

    LIKES

    - It's compatability is very good. So far it works with all of the games I have used in it. And from what I hear from others it's probably some of the best compatability out there

    - Wireless joysticks are fantastic!

    - Speaker is loud! I was very surprised at how loud the speaker actually is.

    - TV Out capabilities

    - IT'S A PORTABLE SNES!!!

    DISLIKES

    - build in D-Pad feels very mushy. Was hard to control Starfox. Good thing it came with wireless or this would be a dealbreaker for me!

    - Mono sound. Boooo... some games have fantastic Stereo effects, all lost

    - Odd headphone port. Standardize it for god sake!!!

    - Screen is a bit blurry, but then again so were TVs in the 16 bit era :P

Overall though I definitely think it's a great little system, and well worth the money. If you're an SNES fan it's just too cool to have...

  15. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far, I really appreciate everyone's feedback!

So far I have a very large deal in place with someone who has a ton of games, now all I need to do is come up with the money somehow :P

And just last night I found a place about 30 minutes away called Max Media Xchange that has insane amounts of Retro Stuff. I picked up a couple throwaway games, and finally located a couple of GB games for my Gameboy Evolution Table.

Stoneage - I agree, the FC16 Go has worked with everything I've thrown at it so far (all 5 games lol) but I REALLY like it a lot! Worth every penny IMO

  16.

It would be nice to read a review from you on the FC16 Go once you get a little more play action with it.

    -Sean

I just may have to do that!!!

I actually used to do game hardway reviews for a fairly popular site, so maybe I can whip one up for this as well...

If anyone has any carts they want to contribute to the cause (you know, for compatibility testing) just send em my way :P
