  1. Hey Darrell. My son and I played this for quite a while. Don't change a thing. The sounds are spot on and no bugs that we could create. Unless there is something major that comes up this is the version I'm going to use. I got a cab cut out and stained. Got a computer. Need some controls yet. I can't wait to put this thing together. Hopefully the software doesn't slow me down too much. When I get it somewhat assembled I will have to post some pics for criticism. Since you are letting this go at PRGE does that mean there will be carts soon?
  2. Try using Mp3 Editor For Free (that's it's actual name) http://www.mp3-editor.net/Mp3EditorforFree.exe with an emulator. It will capture anything that's coming out the speakers and let you edit it. I just ran it thru AVG to make sure it doesn't have any spyware and it came back negative. (YMMV) It will ask you to install a toolbar and change your homepage but you can opt out during setup. I've used it to capture some cool arcade (w/mame) sounds and ring tones for my driod x2. Pretty simple and fun to mess with.
  3. I obviously don't know a thing about programming but I didn't think it will hurt to ask. Would it take up a lot of bytes to add a top 5 or top 10 high score list to this? Just curious.
  4. I'm sure this isn't the answer you are looking for but you would probably have a better chance at building an CV joystick (or getting some kind of interface) that works with a PC so you can use save states that way. You could even throw a TV out card in it to hook to your TV. Or if you don't want to or can't use a card, I've seen these little converter boxes (< $20) that will take VGA from a PC and convert it composite, component or even coax to hook to a older tube type TV. NOT as good as original hardware by any means but in a case like this its a quick and workable solution.
  5. DOh! Asteroids deluxe, thats right. Never did play that but have seen it emulated. No. I don't have have a starplex. In fact I have never even seen one until the thread earlier today. Very cool. If I do build a cab around it, I will probably build a bartop sized one. I have made quite a few of them in the past. I'd throw an old PC in it running Stella with Mala as a front end. Using arcade type controls would be sweet with this game.
  6. This is freaking awesome!! I know I played an arcade game back in the day with these enemies in it. Was it Space Frantic or something like that? What an awesome extra layer you have added here! Also, do you have the AI programmed with the saucers so that they defend themselves against oncoming asteroids? I am seriously thinking of building a dedicated cabinet around this game. It's that fun.
  7. What the hell, do a kickstarter project and take a couple years off! Just think what you could accomplish with all that time!!
  8. Couldn't you just quit your day job and work on Atari and Colecovision games ALL the time? (just joking, kinda ) You would make a lot of ageing gamers VERY happy!
  9. Damn dude, my homebrew game budget is going to have to be bumped up at this rate! As save2600 was saying, if your games were being relaesed towards the end of the console's life cycle can you just imaging how this could of changed the whole industry? Add on another 5 years of sales for the 2600 and what that could of done to the crash. Maybe nintendo wouldn't have gotten a foothold in North America? The kids might now all be playing Atari 3DS's right now! Bug issue maybe? Are all the asteroids big and small supposed to stay "vectorized" even after you shoot them? Right now the large ones are vector but when I split them the small ones go solid. I skimmed thru the previous posts and didn't see if that was supposed to be like this or not. Again great work and sign me up for another cart!
  10. Hey I really like it! Is there any way of making it a full screen downloadable .exe? It would make a great game for my cab!
  11. Thanks for the email with the heads-up on the game Byte Knight! It looks and plays fantastic!! I already have a spot cleared off on the shelf for it. You got another sale here!
  12. Yes I do have an older build. I hope you can keep all 3. Speech, animation and extra shots. I never realized that the 2600 could even do speech! I can't decide which I would like to see given up...
  13. Cant wait for it. I will be buying it right away! I got to say, the walking/running sprite of the "hero" is just fantastic. Has got to be the best I've seen on the system. First time I had him move I was just delighted! It looks great. I smile everytime I see it. It kinda reminds me of the way the guy moved in the original Prince of Perisa games. Very realistic. Excellent job!
  14. That was it! Thank you very much. Am REALLY liking this game! Do you have plans of putting it on a cart and selling it?
  15. Tried it out but got this debugger screen right out the get go. Old version worked just fine....
  16. That looks cool, although I can get a similar effect by making my random number smaller... Some people mentioned that they'd like a "fade in and out" effect, which I did here: epicadv16.bin What do you guys think - better or worse? I like it. I'm also really enjoying the game over-all. Great work!!
  17. Tho obviously very new here I would like one also. Thanks
  18. Actually, the Ace Case Portfolio DVD box is easier to use / make than a cardboard box - just print out your cover on a piece of paper and slip it in the case. The cartridge fits inside perfectly too! A few more requests and I'll do a third run... Put me down for one. PM on the way.
  19. Well its a good thing I caught this post too. Maybe that should've been in there?
