Hey,
I was wondering if anyone here on AA has had games graded by that VGA company? Specifically but not limited to ATARI games is what I would like to see and here about. I have a sealed Double Dragon for the 7800 I was thinking about sending in myself.

A little late to reply, I know, but I've had four games graded thus far. I only send those that, I think, would get a 90+ grade.
It's not necessarily cheap, getting them graded, but their grading, in my experience, has been completely accurate and I love the fact that they're further protected in an acrylic case, complete with grading label. I don't have dollar signs in my eyes as I have absolutely no intention of selling them.
There are always going to be people on both sides of the fence with this sort of thing (I mainly collect comics, and there are people who are vehemently against so-called slabbing). To each their own, I say.

I'm in the market for all Avalon Hill titles for the 2600 in new-in-box/sealed condition.
Death Trap
London Blitz
Out of Control
Shuttle Orbiter
Wall Ball
I'm a stickler for condition, so paying top dollar for mint (i.e., "case fresh") examples!

I thought this deserved to be in the Marketplace section, but if a mod should like to move it they may (of coarse
)I ran across this website with pictures of a classic style Toys R Us that is still functional and selling modern day items.
Brought back lots of memories, and I'm sure of few people here would love to see it too:

Enjoy!

Wow, that does bring back fond memories!
When I think of that, I always think back on the day I finally found Escape from the Mindmaster, the last Starpath game I needed (I didn't know about any of the games beyond the first seven) at the time. Getting that ticket and praying that they really had a copy up front . . . Those were the days.

Thus far, I've only submitted two games, neither of which is rare: one came back 85, the other 90. The grading seems spot on, and I really like the look of the game sealed in a labeled case. How much did they charge you per game for the grading service?
Edit:
Rather than pull the numbers from memory, here's the breakdown from their site:
Standard Tier
$25 / 30-40 bus. day turnaround
Express Tier
$37 / 10-15 bus. day turnaround
Premium Tier
$50 / 4-6 bus. day turnaround
Archival Tier
$70 / 2-4 bus. day turnaround
It's expensive, I know, but I really like the idea of having a professionally-graded game, sealed in a hard, acrylic case. I've only had two games graded (Commando and Killer Satellites), but they seem to be dead-on accurate with their grading.
As for why I sent those two games, well, they were in "case fresh" condition and I was hoping for 90s. Commando came back an 85, Killer Satellites a 90. I wouldn't send a game that I didn't think had a chance of scoring a 90, unless of course it was an insanely rare title that's a prize in any condition.

I'm hijacking my own thread, but where might I buy those plastic slipcases (like the ones in Iwan's bath) to protect the boxes? I know VGA sells acrylic cases, but they seem a bit pricey.Perfect, thanks so much!

Here is where they all are but I am not so sure you will want them after that...
I've never had a bath like that . . .
Thanks for the replied. I'll have to dig a bit deeper at atari2600.com.
As for the whole grading thing, I have to admit, I like the idea of it. I've collected graded cards and comics, so I was quite pleased to see VGA come along. Thus far, I've only submitted two games, neither of which is rare: one came back 85, the other 90. The grading seems spot on, and I really like the look of the game sealed in a labeled case.

Hello, folks.
Like this Ivan fellow whose collection I've been drooling over, I collect Atari 2600 games of the sealed persuasion, but there was a pause in my collecting activity for the past seven or eight years. Now that I'm getting back into it, I'm having a very hard time finding uncommon to rare games in said condition now compared to then. My first approach is eBay, though I've bought a few things from atari2600.com. I've also perused the chasethechuckwagon site, but it seems that's mostly good for loose cartridges.
Is it just me, or has it become more difficult to find sealed games? I can't help but wonder if they've been absorbed and are now being hoarded. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

I don't think there's a Xonox game that I don't like at least some aspect of. I'd have to say that my fondest memories are of Artillery Duel, though, for my favorite uncle would drive down from Massachusetts to spend the weekend with us sometimes and he and I would play it for hours.
On a related note, I remember seeing the box for It's Only Rock 'n' Roll in Toys R Us (where I would buy most of my Atari games back in the day) and drooling. Not because it looked all that great, but because I was such a huge fan of Xonox that I knew it had to be a good game, but not having a Coleco made it a bit difficult. And now I see that there were other Coleco-only Xonox titles, Slurpy and Word Feud. Any of you Xonox fans ever play any of those (on an emulator, or otherwise)?

Well, now that you mention it, the shrinkwrap was rather ratty. I used to shrinkwrap things at a job, many moons ago, so I can usually spot an amateur's work. Were the Xonox games not sealed? I bought a copy of Ghost Manor back in the '80s, when EB Games was called Games -n- Gadgets, and I don't recall it being sealed, but that was so long ago.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, hands down!
Speaking of which, have any of you seen AVGN's review of it (Rom Hunter will appreciate it, I'm sure). It's hilarious! Please, have a look: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/34277.html?type=wmv.

I can't stop laughing! I have to say, "TITANKHAM" is one of my favorites.

I'm a fan of Phantasm from way back, so yeah, I'd love to have a premium version of this. PLEASE consider doing a box for it. I think this title deserves one!

I've been collecting Atari 2600 games on and off for a little over ten years now. In all that time, I think I've seen one sealed Xonox (Chuck Norris/Artillery Duel) game on eBay. As such, I was wondering just how many of you reading this have sealed examples in your collections.
I don't know what it is about the Xonox offerings, but I always loved them. I think it's because they seemed fairly more complex than most other 2600 titles. I'd "kill" to have a complete set, factory-sealed!

Did Tigervision shrinkwrap any of their games or were they all issued in "open" boxes? I've seen "new" copies of some titles that simply had a piece of Scotch tape sealing one end, which I haven't been able to figure if Tigervision, themselves, did or the person retailing the game. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, being the sealed copy (above) auctioned for $157.50, you're right!
