  1. I would recommend buying: Lady Bug - incredible conversion of the arcade game Sea Wolf - nice, fun easy to pick up and play submarine shooter game Pac Man 4K - the best PacMan on the 2600 to date; PacMan Arcade was good, this is better Fall Down - simple concept, fun game Juno First - technically amazing shooter, good arcade conversion Go Fish - quirky and different And I actually own all of them. Buying from the AA store is always a great experience. Everything is top notch, from the products themselves to shipping speed and cost. Albert does a fantastic job with it.
  2. And QBert makes 40 A8 carts. Any tips on playing QBert, he so often goes in the wrong direction.

I always just give the joystick the appropriate 45º rotation and play it that way. Never had any problems with the little guy wandering on his own.

That worked, once I figured out which way to turn it, fire button at the top. I can play now! :)

  3. Yes, insulting your potential buyers is a great way to try to sell something: https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/vgm/4405271460.html

Oh, I agree, the price is probably great.

I don't know about insulting but it's generally not very helpful to call the thing you are supposed TRYING to sell, "mediocre".

  4. Uninformed eBay sellers are so cute. From an auction for an Atari 800: " A game Star Raiders is present, but it might only be half the game as unsure if there should be two cartridges."

Or maybe the game is that bad and he was being facetious.

OMG! Can you imagine the OTHER HALF of Star Raiders?

There was another one on Youtube along the lines of "Do you wanna hide a body..."

  6. Edit: Please let this end. I have no desire to see this continue or participate in it. This forum is toxic and I will stay out of it.
  7. That high school stabbing - here comes the video game blame - report that police have confiscated his game consoles and games "including titles Call of Duty and Medal of Honor."

That kid should be playing Smurf's Adventure instead. What the fuck is he doing playing that garbage?

I wonder what conclusion they'd get if they found Smurf's Adventure?

  8. I always liked Tempest, and Gravitar. As great as T2K is on the Jaguar, I always wished the basic or classic arcade version was more stripped down to the arcade original.
  9. I'd be thrilled to find a lot like that at a yard sale. I haven't seen anything for years.
  10. Will be interested in hearing what you think of Tempest, especially how it controls and what controller you use. I have a Wico and wonder how the control would be. I'd rather a boxless version, but in time - and if the feedback is good - I may just say screw it and get it boxed.
  11. Not a joke - I have a 2 port system out that I pulled out of a trash can at a car wash. Yeah, it has a new board from Best inside it, but you'd never know where it came from by looking at the case. Nothing broken, chipped or missing.
  12. By third-party controller, do you mean a Wico? If so, that's great - especially if the Y cable is with it. It's needed to hook up a standard 5200 controller for use of its function buttons. I wouldn't say the 4 port is crappy. I don't get the hate for it just because of its switchbox. If it works - and mine does - then there's really no problem. Games for a buck each is awesome.
  13. Having not read everything that's been said... Yes, an A8 is an alternative, if it's just about playing the games. Many of the same games are there, they are nearly identical and you can use a regular 2600 controller for them. In my Atari collection, the 5200 was my "holy grail," the last game system I had to acquire, and the last I found. Once when I went looking for a 5200, I found and came home with an XEGS - didn't even know what it was before I found it. Don't let the now common, standard and tired cheap shots at the 5200 deter you from getting one. It is an attractive console - large, maybe, but only because it has the controller storage bin in the back. There is less wasted space inside a 5200 than a 2600. The four-port switch box will not burn down your house, contrary to jokes about the "sparking" switchbox. The entire point of that setup is lost on modern gamers who have no sense of perspective to the times in which it was made. 4 port or 2 port? I say whichever you can find first. Just know what each needs. The 5200 cartridges are as attractive as the system. They're not really large - the shell casing is slightly bigger than a 2600 cart, but the labels are the exact same size, just turned sideways. Really. For me, a big part of Atari gaming is using the real hardware - that's why multicarts and and emulators don't appeal to me - I want the real carts on the real hardware. The 5200 carts are just enjoyable to have and use. The controllers are the biggest pain, and that's where the investment decision/hurdle rests. You either put a few bucks into solid rebuilds, and then maintain them, or go for an alternative. Which takes us back to the beginning - don't want to deal with the controller issue, then get an A8.
  14. What I have seen. Jeez. And what I said BEFORE that: So the statement you cherry picked out came after that. You're right Ninsega, it can pointlessly continue. I'd like to be done with it. This has gone on way beyond anything I would have ever wanted. But I don't appreciate being misrepresented and misinterpreted. Unless I'm wrongly called out again, I'm done here. I will let this thread go back to its original purpose - not that I wanted or intended to derail it.
  15. You still don't get it. You just can't read nor have the ability to comprehend. I have not derided every single Jaguar homebrew ever. I have not seen every single Jaguar homebrew. AGAIN, what I said is - the ones I HAVE SEEN do not appeal TO ME. You don't know what I've played or not played.
  16. I don't have to explain myself to you. You wouldn't understand anyway.
  17. I just knew you'd do that, "wanker." Nice job hitting the softball.
  18. If I see a "freely available game" that appeals to me, yes I'll try it out. If it doesn't appear to appeal to me, there's no motivation to download it. I'm not being a "wanker." That's just you being insulting and juvenile. It's a "you don't like my game so I'm mad" perspective that I find pathetic. Some of what I've seen look more like exercises in programming rather than polished games - games made on the Jaguar just for the sake of being on the Jaguar. Again, that's just to me, my opinion, my perspective. I never said every single Jaguar homebrew game is unworthy of me playing. I have not seen every single Jaguar homebrew game. I'm sure there are some I'm not even aware of. I said the ones I have seen have not appealed to me. So I did not belittle the efforts of many. You are making sweeping assumptions and reading things into my words that are not there. I won't say all people making games on Jaguar are overly sensitive. I will say you are. I don't like your games, you don't care what I think - so there's nothing really left to say.
  19. Not everyone. Not even close.
  20. I'll be interested in this too.
  21. I know nothing about Putty Squad, but I watched a YouTube video of some of the gameplay and it looks interesting. The only developer in the list that I know of, and/or that I would trust, is Songbird.
  22. That would be nice. I'm not holding my breath, given how easily some of them blow their tops. Say you don't like their game - that it's not for you - and you get called "ignorant" and told to shove things up your rectum.
  23. That looks interesting. That's one I'd consider picking up for the Jag, if it was done. Not every game or homebrew has to be like Battlesphere to be worthwhile to me. I know they did start under Atari, and probably had more resources than a homebrew developer would have today (I say probably because while I suspect that to be true, I don't know to say so definitively.)
  24. Last night I finished watching Breaking Bad for the first time, on Netflix. Wow, what a series.

You may have known, or you may not have known where it was going - it's the ride to get there that was great. Each episode is like one chapter in a book, and I couldn't stop watching.
