  1. What day is it? It's raise day! Woohoo! Awww yeah! (still poor, but, ya know)

  2. The game is GREAT. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes PacMan and has an Atari computer to play it. When the chance arrives, get one.
  3. Yeah, went and hooked it up already and reminded myself of the XEGS connections. Been a looooong time, apparently.
  4. So you figure the composite signal is what's coming across the red plug then? If so, what's on the white, one of the other video signals? I did notice a difference in sound depending on which audio jack on the TV I connected the yellow connector to. On the white/L one I get sound from both TV speakers; on red/R only from the right speaker. So I guess on the white/L I'm getting "faux" stereo. My tech knowledge here is limited. Edit - the video signal on the white cable is in color, but it's drab and seems incomplete. I had forgotten how good the monitor output on my 800XL is. I have two 400s with really good image output, and have been using them for a while now because I had recently gotten them and they just feel neat to use. But, that monitor output, dang. I'll have to plug in my XEGS tomorrow and see if its monitor connections are any different. Been a while since I used it. I always played Lode Runner on it because the colors seemed messed up on the XL.
  5. Been using my 400 for so long now, I think I forgot something about my 800XL. I have a monitor cable for it with the yellow, red and white plugs. On my TV, yellow is video and red and white are audio (white for L, red for R). But it seems I'm getting video signals from the 800XL on the red and white plugs of the cable; audio is coming from the yellow one. It seems I get a perfect picture using the red plug from the 800XL into the video on the TV; sound is best with the yellow plug from the cable plugged into in the white/L connector on the TV. I'm not using the white plug; if I put it in the video plug, I do get a picture, but the colors are muted and there's some "overglow," most noticeable in text at the top of the screen. Am I using the wrong cable? Or is this because I'm using it on a TV and the monitor output was meant for a computer monitor?
  6. I'll take the last one. PM me. Thanks. P.S. Just how many versions of Pac-Man do I need...
  7. Thanks for the video. My interest is piqued. Why does this need more than 16k of ram, when PacMan and Ms Pac don't?
  8. I just had an image of Ms. PacMan in a burqa...
  9. My current thought is, PacMan gets crapped on all the time. But in the day, I played the heck out of that cart and loved it. It was actually Donkey Kong that did in the 2600 for me. When I got a hold of what that looked like on the Colecovision, the Atari was out and Coleco came in.
  10. What's yer thoughts on Chetiry?
  11. OMG.. Planters salted caramel peanuts... in love. I bet the cocoa ones are just as good.

  12. Once I opened a 7800 and something like this happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49EoV50oba0 I was just as shocked. And no one believed me.
  13. 7800 says: Keep playing with me... forever and ever and ever and ever... Now, if you unplug it and it stays powered on, then get worried...
  14. For the computers, are any of the "K-Razy" games any good? I'm not familiar with them. K-Razy Antics, K-Razy Critters...

K-Razy Shoot-Out is pretty decent. Kind of a Berzerk clone.

About as good as you'd expect from K-Tel Records, I guess!

  15. Ah, so it won't run on an unexpanded 600XL or 400. I guess it would run on my 800XL and XEGS. I'm intrigued, but I've always loved the standard Pac-Man game (on the 5200 and the computers). Back in the day I played it a ton on my 600XL (that and Star Wars Arcade, the only games I had).
  16. Sorry, don't know anything about PAL TVs.
  17. Thanks. Any requirements for this game? Any systems it won't run on, or memory requirements?
  18. Is there a video anywhere that shows how this game looks? I'm curious.
  19. There's no sound at all without the XM?
  20. Some of the things said in favor of Star Ship, I could say about Star Raiders. That game made me feel I was really piloting a vessel in space. There were times I'd play the game and just cruise around. I also didn't know much about how the VCS worked or what was inside. I remember there was a time I thought the "game info" was sent to the system by the black tabs on the cart - you know, the tabs that serve to open the dust door on the 2600's end? I also remember thinking there'd be all this amazing, cool stuff jammed inside the thing, so you can imagine how let down I was when I finally opened one up and saw how little was in there.
  21. A wooden 2600? I get the point but that's still kinda funny... Watch out for splinters!
  22. Coming off of recent mention of station wagons, can Kia make the minivan cool (again, or if it ever was): http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2014/04/03/kia-crossover-tease/7259325/

Good thing my Kia is made in Georgia. And designed by a German who used to work for Audi. (Although I think an Italian had a hand in it.)

Cool story. Kia is still not cool, despite stateside scab manufacturing. To answer your original question, the only time minivans were cool was when they were made by Chrysler, shaped like a brick, and had fake wood paneling on their side.

Wow. Is this racism, jingoism or union thuggery at work? I don't give a damn what you think of Kia, or Hyundai, or Swedish meatballs for that matter. But wake up and smell the global auto industry.

  23. Hmm... is it me, or does $99 for a Jaguar CD drive box (just the box) plus $52 to ship it seem a bit steep?

      It's not just you.

(Actually, all Jaguar prices have been getting way too steep lately.)
