  1. I've never found a perfect solution, but I did come across some flat clear plastic cases (material similar maybe to hot wheels track) that held 3 rows of 4, or something like that. You could see 12 games at once and they stacked nice. ...don't know where to get 'em. Eventually, I moved them to some wood cigar boxes I found at a garage sale. The carts are merely grossly sorted into a few boxes which I just go through to play games once in a while; mostly not organized at all :)
  2. I remember them in school, worked like a slide projector showing one frame at a time. Play an LP that would narrate and beep when its time to move forward to the next frame (or sometimes would tell the operator to go back to the previous frame). It's interactive, and it's video...
  3. I really appreciate those true heroes today who are working in the food and goods distribution and sales businesses...you are keeping things going while those of us who are being prevented from working figure out what to do. But to be honest, I'm getting tired of video games, movies, and music.
  4. ...also... anyone else remember film strips that came with a record?
  5. Well, not DVD, but there were quite a few VCR games that you could easily put on DVD... Action Max, TV Teddy, even Teddy Ruxpin, and all those board games that came with a videotape.
  6. ebay prices going up is probably just a function of more demand and fewer sellers.
  7. I answer your question on a regular basis this way: "What's the biggest, heaviest thing I have I don't want that's worth enough to be worth it?" Most recently, Saturn and Odyssey 2 stuff. I too, am considering releasing my once-new vectrex, as it's image has been deteriorating and serious work is needed. Despite my great admiration for the technology, I rarely play it anymore anyway.
  8. Funny, I just played this for the first time yesterday on the NES (Castlequest). Not a bad play mechanic, but I got stuck pretty quick.
  9. Try swapping joysticks, see what happens.
  10. I remember seeing lots of 5200 joysticks available new in box and easy to find (and pretty cheap) maybe even through the turn of the century. Always made me think they must have made WAY too many.
  11. Maybe it's all that 3D toilet paper people are printing.
  12. "Life" was a common type-in program for early personal computers. I think I first remember reading about it in Scientific American; and the computer magazines shortly after. A simple and elegant algorithm producing interesting and complex results. But I gotta say I never was a fan of the 2600 version.
  13. Also useful for Mouse Trap and Miner 2049er, two games I love. If I was in the market, even though you don't need one, I might also buy one for Pepper II, just 'cause I like the game so much.
  14. I have played the Neo Geo Pocket Color (if that's the one), and just wanted to say I really like the feel of its joystick...it clicks in the right places and works very well. Not sure about the analog question, but I don't remember any with the few games I've played; I always just assumed it worked like a d-pad.
  15. Other threads talk about this dry, but interesting topic. Technically, it depends on lots of things like where and why you are making a copy, and of what, and who needs to know. Realistically, most people probably don't think that hard.
  16. Just defending the N64...I still regularly go back to, and have fun with: Cruisin' games Diddy Kong Racing Donkey Kong 64 Earthworm Jim Stunt Racer Robotron Wetrix Star Wars Racer Space Invaders Kirby's Crystal Shards Wipeout Star Soldier Rush2 ...(there are more). I also really like The New Tetris. I'm sure there are newer games, or versions, that most certainly are more realistic, detailed, optioned, immersive, etc., but I don't think that diminishes the value the N64 provides me, presumably indefinitely. It's also just physically an interesting system. Lots of doodads to connect up for various things, lots of accessories, and it is, in fact, very simple to set it up and plug and play. It's probably built more reliably than most systems. ...and it looks cool on the table, better than a PS imo. Now if, in a few years, Sony makes a PS7 that looks and acts just like the N64, I guess this could all change.
  17. Chasing down rumors can become quite time consuming, but heck, can't hurt to try to remember one more datum on existing bugs. I didn't read every single title you have, but it's doubtful you'll find anything that isn't dumped yet. Maybe more likely if you can find uncommon variations on the cart and/or packaging. There are people who collect prototypes and rom versions, too. On the other hand, lot's of fun sitting on that table of yours there.
  18. What about "Speak N Spell"? I always thought that thing was STUPID. EDIT==> :)
  19. ! I've been patiently waiting for the game gear adapter to be available together with the main unit. Still not right now, I guess... but it got me to realize something: it's been like a decade since I've had a working GG, and it turns out I don't really miss the games. Also, I'm still sailing along fat and happy with my original consoles that seem to work fine with my TV configuration, so don't cry for me. BUT, I was just wondering if one of these game gear adapters are something someone could make at home, and what it might take (I have a couple of game gears to scavenge parts from). Anyone know? Is it a secret?
  20. I also thought I read somewhere an allusion to some connection between the organization of the AA site and (maybe balancing?) the traffic load.
  21. AA is organically grown... there may be some blemishes but its fresher and healthier.
  22. If I was reading that on the back of the box at Toys R Us some time in the early 80's, I probably would have bought it immediately.
  23. Just in case anyone is wondering about the new FBP (2019), specifically regarding the issues the 2017 model had with SD cards: I just got the new model this weekend (DG $25). It took me a couple of days to get an sd card, load it and try it out. I originally tried to find a 2gb sd card, but nobody sells them in stores anymore (at least, around where I live), so I gambled and got the smallest I could find...sdhc 16gb ($2.99 at microcenter). Works fine in the new model (but does not work in the original model, as one would probably expect). I've been playing with the original FBP for almost 2 years now, every couple of days since I got it, but I really like the new models improvements, even though they might seem minor... The screen is only a bit bigger, but it feels really significant...also don't notice the "angle flicker" like I did on the older model (horizontal vs vertical orientation issue). The menu fonts are better also, imo. I haven't really used the new buttons for saving high scores, or saving state much, but I really like that they are there and I'm excited to experiment with them. It seems you can rewind game play, but only for about 7 seconds, so not sure how useful I'll find that. Be nice to go back 5 minutes or so, but maybe that takes too much memory, or something. Plus, now I have a backup.
  24. I think there may have been pinball machines that showed the high score before video games had them.
