Its hard to diagnose from just looking at the video. It might be that you need to replace the SY6522 chip (on the logic board) or the LF353 and LF379 chips (on the analogue board). These are connected with screen output. But you should get an electronics person to work with the vectrex service manual and measure with an oscilliscope to verify the expected signals from the components and thus identify the correct operation of the particular circuit.

I was so pleased with my Vectrex covers I made a video. Please note I made the video some time ago and since then contact details for barb have changed.... http://youtu.be/GkhJYORRDxI -
ive seen a picture of that before. was it ever used? "Before the Mini-Cade was discovered, it was rumored to exist as several people reminded an arcade cabinet in the public areas playing Minestorm. This could be the system they saw. There are seven systems known to exist. Two systems were found in the Massachusetts state."

But the minicade was, and this used an unmodified Vectrex..... more info at http://vectrexmuseum...rexminicade.php

I've played it and it is good, but it was never completed so I didn't think to mention it. At least the guy who released the rom said he wasn't going to complete anyway. Yes, it was never completed but you know he did update it to a more finsihed state in September 2010. This "newer" version has a lot more enemies. The original from 2007 only had one enemy.

worth a watch though (for a Vectrex fan) ?

I heard from reports its not very good. But what do you think?

There is only a PDF edition of issue 2 so far. I'm old fashioned and far prefer to read via the medium of paper, so I bought a cheap colour printer and printed my own. Like issue 1 its a great read filled with classic gaming goodness from cover to cover. It can still be purchased at http://stoneagegamer...ne2digital.aspx I made a fan video of it giving an idea of the content: http://youtu.be/F1vzIftk0vk

Which site are you talking about? http://www.geekvinta...l-number-db.php Ah. Well I actually encourage Vectrex fans to register their machine at the following site: http://users.tmok.com/~gauze/vectrex/ This is not maintained by the original creator but you can still add your Vectrex details to it. Fill in the form, submit, and the next time you refresh the webpage, the details are added to the end of the list. I also frequently store all the data to an excel sheet in case the website suddenly dissappears. I think its useful to collect this data, as the more data there is the more can be concluded about different production types and production totals. This might be boring to some, but its heckish interesting to me

When you put the brightness up do you see a white dot in the centre? If so thats a typical problem - see the following which I copied from the Vectrex FAQ: 7.4) My Vectrex just shows a white dot when I turn it on. I can hear the game playing but there is no picture. Can I fix it? There is 1 common problem that will cause this symptom. Inside the unit there is a 4-wire power connector connecting the side board to the bottom board. Often units with no picture have bad solder joints on this connector. Try resoldering the pins and see if that helps.

PC display/input adapter or higher-level languages for Vectrex homebrewing?

>Also does anyone make a flash card adapter (like the Harmony for the Atari 2600) to make it easy to play your game on a physical? See http://www.vectrex.biz >If this exists, where can you order one (or find the instructions to make one)... If not, where would you find people to work with or discuss such a project? http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.vectrex/topics?hl=en http://vectorgaming.proboards.com/index.cgi -
Ltd Edition Vectrex gaming Baseball caps for sale
VectrexMad! replied to VectrexMad!'s topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I am with Ianoid. How about making a few withouth the real arcade play, and leaving the MB off? Is the hat black or green? When the bill of the hat points to the right on your model the hat looks green. The base ball cap is black. Kosmikneil told me he was only doing a limited run of the current design. Mind you if there are enough takers I'm sure he would consider another run specifically for the US market. -

Agreed. I have one of those and love it. BTW: is there any way to switch between games without power cycling the whole machine? On my old dip-switch enabled Multi-cart, I could change the game while the machine was still on/cart still in the port and simply hit reset to load up the next game. No, for the 72:1 you have to switch off and then on, to select a new game. The VecMulti does allow change of games without switching off - just press the Vectrex reset to select a different game.
-
I didn't mention it here because I was only comparing multicarts with fixed memory (ones that you cannot upload different binaries to). I agree the VecMulti is the best solution, but it isn't for everyone. For example the loader program is currently only for the PC, so Mac users can't use it. Its a bit more expensive too at £55. Its well worth the money though in my opinion.
-
A much better deal is Andy Colemans's 72:1 cart. As the name suggests it got 72 programs. It's also got a very easy Vectrex onscreen software menu, so you don't have to fiddle about with DIP switches. And its got some programs on it which are not available anywhere else e.g. hangman. Price is just £34.99 and is currently available from http://www.playntradeonline.com/vectrex/shop.html for a review see pages 11+: http://publishing.yudu.com/Aembd/VGTrader6/resources/index.htm?referrerUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.videogametrader.com%2Fvgtrader%2Findex.htm&skipFlashCheck=true

[VECTREX] Time Pilot on Vectrex...! Fabulous...
VectrexMad! replied to lucifershalo's topic in Vectrex
True the game sound effects and music are close to the original, but the music that plays at the end of the game is different to Time Pilot, and sounds like Harold Faltermeyer's Top Gun anthem. I think its a witty touch by the programmer.
