  1. Richard, its an honour to receive praise from the VecFlash king. many thanks VectrexMad!
  2. No the Vectrex doesn't have autofire but see the video for my new homebrew product in another topic: VectrexMad! Productions AutoFire Dongle for the Vectrex regards VectrexMad!
  3. No, autofire is only available on button 4 - the button that the majority of Vectrex games use for firing/shooting - although there are some exceptions. Auto fire mode is on by default. To turn it off for particular games e.g. PolePosition (otherwise it makes your car go slower!), you just need to press button 4 immediately after you switch on power to the Vectrex. regards VectrexMad!
  4. Nope! Its analogue. See :- http://vectrexmuseum.com/vectrexsystem.php GroovyBee is 100% correct! The stick is analogue and the buttons are digital. regards VectrexMad!
  5. By chance I saw this message just as I today announced in an other topic that my VectrexMad! Productions AutoFire Dongle is available to order. Please see VectrexMad! Productions AutoFire Dongle for Vectrex regards VectrexMad!

Thank you! That's exactly what I'm looking for! Tempest And of course most of the John Dondzilla ones can also be downloaded direct from his website: http://classicgamecreations.com/ VectrexMad!
  8. Thanks for the info Chris, Now I know where I've been going wrong - I've never had the original nor read the manual - only played it on a flashcart. You've just put new interest in the game. I'm off to find the polar base now.... VectrexMad!
  9. I always though the game a bit boring but maybe that was because I didn't perservere with it long enough. The graphics are a bit flickery too (more so than on other Vectrex games). What's this you say about the polar supply depot? Is this represented by some graphics which you don't normally see or are you referring to the beginning of the game ? You have just made curious enough to get this game out again VectrexMad!
  10. Message sent, thanks. ..Al Reply by PM sent! Regards VectrexMad!
  11. Jrok, there is no anger it was just dissappointment. regards Vectrexmad!
  12. All apologies accepted Here's something I just did. I went to Alex Herbert's AtariAge profile and I noticed that he had included is EbayID (herbs64). So then I went to eBay and searched on his eBay ID and there is proof there that he was active in 2009 because he got seller feedback dated 10-Jan 2009. When I sent Alex my letter, it was after I sent him an email and it took around 3-4 weeks to get a reply. That's why I didn't want to rely on waiting to get the artwork from Alex - I know myself how much pressures there is in all of us retro gamer's lives. regards VectrexMad!
  13. I found this discussion whilst searching on Vectrex and what a surprise I had. I had to think twice about making a comment to this discussion lest I be wrongly accused of being a serial fibber as I am sticking to what I said previously. However, if I didn’t respond who knows how many negative comments would follow! I really did have contact with Alex. And yes its all true about how he said his artwork was on an IDE hard disk and that he currently only has a SATA PC. By the way I didn’t ask how his health was because it was the first time I had contact with him and I thought it none of my business. And about wanting to sell repros. I am not pushing the repros to make a quick buck. If it’s the Protector overlay or next most popular one makes no difference to me – there is no reason to make things up. This repro thing is a movement started by Vectrex enthusiasts who want to be able to have some overlay repros for the overlays which are hard to get. So thanks Linkert,Gozilla,Jrok,Sandmountainslim for your doubting comments. Somewhat disappointed to be doubted … VectrexMad! A.k.a Ian www.vectrex.co.uk p.s. Albert, if you need the contact details please send me a private email.
  14. Thanks for the info. I have a multicart and two vectrex's (each came with one controller), but one of the controllers is screwed and it would be nice to get another controller for some two player action, without having to buy another complete vextrex system. It would be even better to have a converter or modded controller. I am suprised nothing exists for sale at present, and there is no demand for them. There is an original Vectrex controller on the UK ebay right now.... Failing that I've got a modded Sega controller purchased from http://classicgamecreations.com/ - it was one of his last stock and now there is a waiting list whilst he trys to find a new supplier for controllers. My one is unused (I now have a PS2/Vectrex convertor) which I am prepared to sell - make me an offer by private mail if you are interested. I'm in the UK by the way. VectrexMad!
  15. Thanks to all who responded to the survey. Here are the results in order of most "wished for": 1- Mine Storm 2- Star Castle 3- Protector 4- Pole Position 5- Yasi 6- Armour Attack 7- Dark Tower 8- Fortress of Narzod If you go to my website www.vectrex.co.uk and select the "News" tab you can find a downloadable Excel spreadsheet containing all the results. The results will now be presented to the enthusiasts at the newsgroup rec.games.vectrex to determine the way forward for producing the overlays. regards VectrexMad!
  16. Thanks for the feedback SRGilbert. You are pretty much spot on about the MineStorm overlay. Nearly everyone who has replied to the survey has MineStorm at the top of their list. Non profit you say? I think a lot of members in the Vectrex community do things for the love of it rather then to make money. Also it would make the cost of the overlay higher for everyone if profit was factored in - cost is already possibly an issue, because only a small run of the overlays is likely to be made to satisfy demand. But you are right if profit motivated someone to do it I would still buy. regards VectrexMad!
  17. Hello All, This is the last bump (honest)...survey closes on the 6th June. Is there anyone else out there who hasn't already replied that can let me know their reproduction Vectrex overlay wish list? Can be either originals, or homebrews. Thanks VectrexMad!
  18. There is still one more week left before the survey closes. Anybody else have a particular overlay wishlist? VectrexMad!
  19. Thats a nice idea, but when looking at the polls on this site generally there seems to be a low response rate typically 3-30 and that is for Atari related things. Also people not registered with Atariaage would have to register in order to make their vote - I think this would be an extra hurdle for some. Anyway the closing date for my survey is not until 6th June so still some time left. VectrexMad! Except from the answers here, how many total answer we have through the email and all the forums? Plink, so far only 24 (including the answers here) Anybody else out there have a Vectrex Overlay wish list? VectrexMad!

  21. Can anyone else out there make suggestions for reproduction overlays they would be interested in if the price is right? Ideally, I would like your top eight names for game overlays but can settle for four suggestions or less. If you can list them in the order with the most wanted at the top of the list that would be great. If you are going to suggest homebrews can you please give the names. Thanks for your time. regards VectrexMad!
  22. Uh....what? Does the saucer not move on vec space invaders or something? The saucer in Vectrex YASI is like the saucer in the original Space Invaders - it moves but only horizontally above the aliens. Therefore you can make a red strip at the top fo the screen to make the saucer appear red.
  23. I would dearly love to have an AtariVox rev 2. In case this is an unofficial preorder list please let it be kown that I would like to purchase one. regards VectrexMad!
  24. ..And to try and "get the ball rolling" my personal choices would be 1. Pole Position, 2. Minestorm, 3. Star Castle, 4. Star Hawk, 5. Flipper Pinball / Spinball 6. Protector I've already got the rest.
  25. In fact after having learnt some more information about screen printing it might be more cost effective to produce eight overlays. Therefore if you can please respond with up to eight Vectrex game names (four minimum) for overlays you would most like to see reproduced. Thanks.
