That manual looks incomplete - but seems to say those six pins are a UART - I think you need an adapter to connect it to a PC.

It looks like you do need the UART to get the emulator working as you have to flash your bios I think, see http://elinux.org/Didj_U_Boot_Flashing_Primer
All looks quite complicated to me!
