I prefer to keep all my shipping within the U.S.A. For now I want to keep all the lots together. But after a while I'll break them up.. Many disks have not been tested, but all hardware is tested and working.. Drives have been tested with multiple disks and do not seem to have any serious allignment problems. 2. Guys, I posted this in the market place too. But I wanted you guys to get a chance at it. I have a book called: C=64 Machine Language for the Absolute Beginnier.. It'll really help you guys who are just starting to learn assmbler. Especially if you know the BASIC programming language allready. It covers stuff like Loops and it will show the code in BASIC then show how it would look in assembler. Though it's for the Commodore 64, it was pretty helpful for me on the Atari 2600. Anyone want it?? Email me, [email protected] Make me some kind of offer, it's a small book should ship media rate for a couple bucks.. Thanks, Joel
  3. Ok guys, I've been selling out everything I have extra.. Please make me offers on this stuff.. I really don't want to sell out of the U.S.A.. Maybe Canada, but only if you buy a bunch of stuff.. I can take Paypal. Email [email protected] for a quick response. Most everything can be mailed Media mail too. ***************** SEAN KELLY 256 IN ONE CARTRIDGE INCLUDES DIP SWITCH SETTING SHEET ***************** ***************** BOXED ATARI 2600 GAMES ------------------------------------- Robot Tank (Shrink Wrapped) Pick n' Pile (Complete, no Shrink) Fireball (Shrink) Enduro (Shrink) Enduro (Shrink) Super Football (Shrink) Super Football (Shrink) Realsports Volleyball (Shrink, Slight Crush, Black and White Box) Commie Mutants From Space (Shirnk) Commie Mutants From Space (Complete, No Shrink) ***************** ***************** OTHER STUFF --------------------------------------- Starpath Super Charger (Loose Super Charger Only) Phaser Patrol (Loose Tape and Manual in little folder thing) 32 in 1 Atari Cartridge (PAL, From Atari, Label Is Gone, but has some of green so you can still identify it, but it's for playing, not collecting). 4. Hi all. I'm looking for an older (or newer) laptop computer. A pentium 90+.. I want something I can keep notes and such on. Nothing very processor intesnsive. A dell or compaq would be nice, but I'll consider any offers. It'd be nice if it allready had an opperating system setup, so I could at least figure out what hardware installs and such. I'll pay cash money flat out, or I can put together something to trade. I've got some 2600 games, I've got a full Commodore 64 setup with games. I've got 2600 Super Charger, and like 2 boxed games + Loose Phaser Patrol. Also I'd trade the mother of all portible computers a working, RARE, Commodore SX-64 Computer. Finally, I've got a Fender 12 String Acoustic Guitar I'll trade. Make me offers.. Email [email protected] if you would like to chat. I can check my PM's too.
  5. I got another reply to some questions from Bruce.. Here's what he says. ------------------------------------------------ I SAID ------------------------------------------------ Bruce, you're becoming quite popular on the Atari site.. If you want to check out the comments on you go to www.AtariAge.com There is a forum where mythicon is being discussed. Folks are wondering what you are doing now.. Also here are some things folks have said. " I played Firefly and Sorcerer, and I had lots of "great" games to chose from. I used to play the Mythicon stuff a lot. I think partly because they were so bizarre, meaning I didn't really understand the concept. No score, no levels..what the heck was the point. I guess all that time I was searching for something that wasn't there. Still, I really dig the Sorcerer tune to this day. " ------------------------------------------------ HE REPLIED ------------------------------------------------ Heavy embarrassment! I feel like Ed Woods (maker of the worst film ever- Plan 9 from Outer Space). A movie was made about him- he was portrayed as a bit of a nut case. I think I'll stay hidden. Confession: I have not written a single game since Mythicon. No trauma- just got tired of that kind of coding (although I DO still like the 6500 architecture). See if you can track down a guy named Chris Crawford. Super guy. He'll have alot of good stories.
  6. Sorry guys about the site.. Try www.atari2600.net then the same access, see if that works. I haven't updated for some time and I moved stuff all around. There were FTP problems and such. I'm not really maintaining my site right now, so sorry about that.
  7. His name is. Bruce de Graaf He gave me permission to release it.
  8. Hey, here's what he said about StarFox II.. Also about releasing his email address. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- It'd be best if you leave the eMail address out and mention folk by only first name. I'm happy to try to reminisce for you, but I don't want a ton of eMail from everybody. I don't have any of the StarFox code any more. I rather liked the 6500 architecture- I understand it came from an argument that a lead designer had over the Motorola 6800 (not a misprint - 6800 not the 68000). I've often speculated how simple and small a 6500-like processor could be especially with today's design tools. ...maybe something to design and then ensure that the documents are in archival form for the next dark age. StarFox-II's code, on the other hand, as I said, has gone the way of random noise. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------
  9. Guys. . I never got his real name.. His email address says Web Martians in it. So it didn't help me out. I emailed him to see if he's willing to share his name. Also someone asked about SFII, apparently he doesn't have it anywhere. I'll try to keep in contact with him, maybe he'll dig something up.
  10. Hi, it's Joel Park, I haven't posted much for a while.. But I just recieved an email concerning something up on my site. Here's what the email was referencing... ---------------------- http://www.atari2600.net/MythiconConspiracy.htm ----------------------- I got an email from Mr. Mythicon himself. And asked him if I could post this, he asked me to keep last names off and leave out his email address.. Also, I asked him if he had code for StarFox II, he doesn't have anything on it. These are copied directly out of the emails so they might look a little funny.. ---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- His original email to me: Titles, The Mythicon Conspriacy Sorry... no conspiracy. I just needed test mode when I was trying to write the damned things and I was too lazy to get up and try to press the Reset button on the 2600. Yep, I'm not jiving you. They were crap, weren't they? We didn't know how to force the fine horizontal adjustment and had to experiment. The secretaries were sisters with ENORMOUS breasts. Best! ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ My Reply: Hehe.. So you're the man responsible.. Sorry if I was a little harsh in my game reviews.. :-) I didn't even realize they were posted out on the net anymore.. I'd figured I'd lost the reviews when I redid my site. Did you do any other games for the 2600? Or move on to any other systems? ------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------- His Long Reply: Yeah, I'm afraid I'm responsible for all three of the "Ten Worst Games." We had no documentation and had to stay "clean" or Atari would have sued our butts off. I spent many many nights trying to decipher the little chip (George's Television Interface Adapter or GTIA, I think) that generated the TV graphics and made the sounds. StarFox was cobbled together a few days later. The happy face was the practice mode: if you're sitting back with a beer, you won't want to get up to push Reset. I guess we could have run afoul of another copyright issue: Happy Face was copyrighted by some guy in Worcester, MA. I would have put in more story detail but was hamstrung by the schedule ("yesterday") and the ROM size (4k, no ifs-ands-or-buts). I remember searching around the binaries in the ROM for a set of data/commands that could be used for an explosion: talk about "code reuse!" That way, I didn't have to store a set of images for what was little more than an expanding cloud. Anyway, it wasn't until after StarFox that I had a good understanding of sprite/player positioning and the strange little stack trick necessary to move a sprite in the few cycles available during TV horizontal retrace. After that, I was allowed to talk to Atari folk. By that time, Atari was a horrible place to work as everybody was back-stabbing everybody else and the schedules were more a function of who was a favorite. I remember Alan (famous for SmallTalk) just howling one week and then happy the next only to be livid the following week. That was sad; I wanted to work there until I heard the stories. I wonder what's become of Alan- I live on the opposite coast now. I remember Chris and Dave too- ludicrously intelligent people who had to stay because of the money but who later became very bitter. Sorcerer and FireFly were just repackings of StarFox with different graphics. The "music" came from a fellow named Bill Bryner. He was pretty daunted when I told him he had only 16 bytes to hold the "score." Even giving all credit to Bill, I admit I ran the tests with the audio turned off most of the time. The big deal for the technology was the first use of chip-on-board ROM mounting- seventy-five cents per cartridge, only a dollar packaged and in the box. The marketing trick was that since the wholesale cost of the games was so low, the games could be packaged in a cardboard stand (floorstanding or cash register) and did not have to be locked up. There was a StarFox-II. It was much better code and it simulated a 3D experience: your viewpoint was some distance behind and above the craft. I guess that makes the statement that StarFox was first in a series technically true. I know that nobody else at Mythicon knew that I was working on SF-II (maybe a fellow named Thorston -"The Mighty Thor"- did; also a nice and very smart guy). I'd learned enough by then to be pretty sure I could fit everything into 4k AND make a reasonable story-line. Too bad. Wells Fargo Bank told us (among many) that we would not get a line of credit (not to ANY video game company, even Atari) because we were all doomed. Well, that certainly doomed us. Since payments are always 90 days or more later, we couldn't provide salaries. Brenda and Pamela (sisters) headed off for other jobs; while both were voluptuous, they were nice and way more intelligent that their bust sizes would indicate. I took a contracting job deciphering strain sensors for the SRM-1 rocket booster but tried to finish StarFox-II. I wanted a game that would allow you to play starship-fighter and then land on a planet and go "rogueing and looting." The idea was to have two games in two cartridges. The SF-II cartridge would have a plug on its back that could accept the Loot game (sort of a cross between Adventure and Rogue) or the Loot game could be used by itself. The hardware was little more than a latch. It turns out that the hardware for the bank switching 8k games would have resulted in both SF-II and Loot being on the same ROM die and being even cheaper. I did have a neat state counter algorithm that could store the layout of the Loot maze and the location of treasures and monsters and stuff in only 3 bytes. Never mind- it never came to fruition. There you go. Stories from the dawn of time when the dinosaurs were merely sick! Best!
  11. I have a NES want list posted at, www.atari2600.net If the game is NOT on the list, then more than likely I allready have it and it will be up for sale. I chose not to purchase the XXX games, so they aren't on my want list but I don't have them either.
  12. Hi all. I hope this isn't a big No-no but I wanted to get folks to check out my marketplace add. I'd like to try to sell a bunch of my videogames directly instead of having to ship stuff.. So anyone in the area of Maryland, Zip code 21550 (search on map quest to get the idea).. I'll be happy to show you what I have. I have a more detailed message here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=53992
  13. Here's a thought. I've been wanting to sell off all my video game collections with the exception of my Atari 2600 (though I'll even take offers there.) . Before I start listing on ebay or on Atari Age.. I wanted to see if there was anyone in Maryland or West Virgina that might be intersted. I'm in Oakland, Maryland. 21550 is the zip code for searching on mapquest. If anyone was close and wanted to buy stuff I would definately set them up. To save the pain of shipping I would give wonderful prices on stuff. I've got 7800, 2600, NES (600+ Unique Games), Commodore 64, and tons of other stuff. It's insane.. I've been collecting for nearly 10 years so I've got a great collection. Lots of magazines and keep sake stuff. Drop me a line if someone would like to setup an apointment to check stuff out.. If I get serious enquiries I'll give more details.
  14. Believe it or no, I found a Buckner and Garcia Pac-man fever cd at Walmart in the discount cd's. It was like $9.00 It includes a sheet the pacman patterns and a bunch of other cheesy songs other than Pacman Fever. I'll be selling it after a while. I'm selling alot of my Atari suff.
  15. I was wanting to double check something. I've have a Mean 18 Cartridge, I believe it came with a package of carts I got from Canada. This game seems to be really rare so before I listed it or anything I wanted to make sure as well as possible that it wasn't PAL or anything, just because I've never seen the cart for sale very often. I've tested it on a normal TV and there is no roll. There is absolutely no P's on the cart anywhere. The manual is in all english and there is no foreign translations or anything. Is there anything else to check??
  16. I never had Frankensteins monster myself, but I used to borrow it from a friend of mine. The end when you lose and the monster breaks loose and starts filling the screen as it comes tward you. I used to loose over and over again just to see that part. You can imagine what it was like the first time I ever saw it. If you don't know what I'm taking about, get and emulator and fire it up.
  17. I didn't think so.. I saw one of these on Ebay a while back, I was surprised they let it go through. Thanks for the feedbacks.
  18. Check these out: http://gameboy.times.lv/games/ These can't possibly be legal can they?? Thanks, Joel
  19. We never played in the arcades either, actually no one had an arcade where we lived. I remember the Pizza Hut had a tabletop pacman game after a while and pole position maybe. There was also a scurvy old restraunt called El Lobos who had an original Mario Brothers machne. Even though I had seen arcade pacman, I never made a connection between the two, probably because the atari version was so bad.
  20. You can actually still order old-new stock stuff from Radio Shack or at least it's still in their catalogs. Most radio shacks, I haven't been to one for a year or so though, have these big binders of everything they can order, in the back there are all kind of Atari and Coleco games. They are still the old prices though. Might be worth checking out for interest sake. If I remember correctly the binders were just out next to the counter where you could look at them, there were like 4 or 5 different binders, Oarnge, Red, Blue etc.
  21. Sure feel free to use my quote about E.T. I'll stand by it.. It was a neat game with an exploration factor.
  22. I have Fantastic Game called S.O.S. So there must have been one more.. It has a bird on the label. Do they all have birds??? I don't know anything else about them. It was just one of those obscure finds from somewhere.
  23. I never played ET right, that's why I enjoyed it. Though in later years I was able to play it and beat it. Being a youngin' like I was, I used to set the game on higher levels and just run around and try to stay way from the scientist dude.. It was always kind of funny to get into High-speed ET mode and go buzzing around all over the place. Especially when the scientist is carrying you around. It was also fun to call in Eliot and run away from him.. just silly stuff. Even now, E.T. doesn't really seem like a rushed game, it's just kind of complex for a 2600 game. There are alot of neat things about the game. Easter eggs, and the fact that the game has a real ending, either if you die or win the game.. All that stuff I thought was really neat. Once you learn your way out of the wells, it's not bad at all.
  24. I'm a leader for our youth group at church. I brought an atari 2600 and a bunch of games in and have more or less donated it to the group. They play some of the games so much, I get sick of them before they do. Combat is amazingly popular. They don't play the games I think are fun (Kaboom!), they seem to stick with just a few games. Combat is a biggie. Stampede is big. One of these days I'd like to get a 4 player Warlords tourney going, but it's hard to drag them away from the games they want to play. I'll start observing a little more and see the most popular kids games.
