  1. Wow, not even close. Since ajapel was getting a game screen (followed by bad console output), I believe the TV was catching the signal just fine. As already suggested by others, I suspect the power switch or its solder connections most strongly. This would be followed by: the power adapter, power jack or cartridge port. Finally, if all of those can be ruled out, it could be a bad chip in the console but IMO this is unlikely. I've cleaned the power switch. It looks fine but I'll have to take it apart I'm guessing. When the game pops onto the screen, the sound also comes with but after the second, both usually disappear to black. I've never soldered but I'll find out what equp to get and give it a shot. I have a feeling it's something simple since it seems to intially work. Thanks for all the help. April
  2. It's the same with all cartridges.
  3. I happily dug my Atari 2600 out from beyond the grave and hooked it up. The power is working, everything seems to be responding but the picture. It will show the game for a half a second (like the power switch is passing through it as I move it) and then go to all yellow or all black with lines. The sound follows accordingly. I switched the power many times and got it to hold the picture for about 10 seconds but then it left again and went back to the same problem thereafter. Any ideas? I have a Coxial to RF adapter.
