Looking for 7800, the kind compatable with ALL 2600 games
superdevil replied to Spazmonkey's topic in Wanted
Mine dates from 1987, and the Tigervision games play fine. However, on games that use the paddle controller, the cursor just flashes left to right making the games virtually unplayable. -
Here's one:

I emailed him to find out what games he had, what kind of system etc. After some teeth pulling I believe he is selling a four-switch woodgrain unit. As far as games he has Pac-Man, Ms Pac Man, Space Invaders, ET and some more commons. I told him that I believe he put an extra "0" in the asking price as there was no way he could really be seriously asking 500.00? No answer. Hey, a couple of weeks back somebody was selling a used Flashback 2 for 100.00!

But I saw it first !!!!

I found this on Craigslist. It has got to be THE deal of the century. It's one of those ultra-rare 4 switchers with a "joystick and wire. " It also comes with Pac-Man and Space Invaders, two of the most sought after "holy grail" games of all time. Seriously. I need this. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ele/758983311.html

Wow! I'd forgotten about these guys. I ordered the Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I was a kid and it came in a generic blue Nintendo case with no instructions. The label was handwritten and it looked just like the one in the AVGN review. I was HUGELY dissapointed not only in the condition it arrived but in the game itself. I think the second order was for "Alien" which never came. I waited for about a whole year for it before I gave up. This would have been about 1992 or so. Whatever happened to PVV?

My girlfriend (before she met me) threw a perfectly good N64 away. She just figured nobody would want it. She threw it and all the games for it in the dumpster behind her apartment. I guess if you figure what you have is worthless you don't see the point in donating/ giving it away. Of course, there are those that would argue that a N64 belongs in the garbage, but hey....

Did someone paint those switch levers, or perhaps cover them in colored heat-shrinkable tubing, or replace the switches? AFAIK, before the Jr. models, there were only two visually different styles of front panel switches in the VCS consoles -- the common machined aluminum variety, and the polished chrome ones used in some promotional and factory refurbished consoles. Funny, the switch levers that are present all look silver to me, but your images only show the very ends of them clearly. If you're referring to the colors of the text labels, those are perfectly normal. I should have been more clear in my original post, looking back on it yeah I can understand where you thought I was saying the switches themselves were painted. Nope, just the labels.

Nope, this is the way it looked the day it left K-Mart on Christmas eve 1978. My dad got the "on-floor" display model as all the others were sold out. That and he's pretty cheap, lol. If it's not evident in the pictures (they came out kind of blurry) the only thing altered were the two far right switches, they broke off from years of vigorous "toggling". I never replaced them, I use a paper clip just like I did in 1985. When I was a kid we didn't have fancy things like switches, consarn it!

In my experience, atari stuff is built like tanks
superdevil replied to Tom_Explodes's topic in Atari 2600
I've had every major atari console at some point and really the only issues I've had have been the power jack on my light sixer needing to be resoldered every couple of years (it gets loose as hell from repeated plug ins), the power input on the 7800 constantly coming loose, and of course never being able to find working 5200 controllers that last more than a couple of days. -
That's exactly what happened to me the other day. Advertised as a working 7800 with 22 games for 60.00. When I asked what kind of games, 2600 or 7800, all I got was "well, they're all atari games I guess." Turned out to be Pole Position II and 21 common 2600 games.

Sunnyvale light sixer here, red power switch and yellow color, left diff, right diff, game select and game reset switches. Serial number 23235P Channel selector hole, no switch

No I'm pretty sure it's not the controller ports. Everything worked fine until it sat for several years, so I'm guessing this is when the controllers started deteriorating.
-
Yeah it's the Wico 5200 controller. Can anyone tell me if the Trak-Ball controller had the same problems that the Joysticks had?
-
So here's my first post in these mighty forums, and I'm looking for a little help. Here's my dilemma; I've had a working 5200 sitting around with the standard non-working joysticks. I replaced the flex 9 circuits with the gold ones, and was able to get the number pad working on one controller. Did the old crazy glue-ing the tinfoil to the bottom of the start/reset/pause/fire buttons and still nothing. So I bit the bullet and won a Wico command controller off ebay and it also doesn't work. (I'm assuming it doesn't work because it won't work with the standard 5200 controllers hooked into the Y-cable and it won't work as a standard 2600 controller minus the Y cable adapter). Sooo... Can I use the Y-cable on another 2 button 2600 style controller? or will the fact that the non working start and reset buttons on my 5200 controllers hinder me from doing anything at all? Finally, is there any other way to test the Wico controller to see if it functions in any capacity? I've tried it on my 2600 and 7800 and nothing happened.
