  1. Another word of thanks! I bought the physical release and would do it again, but, it is also nice to have the ROM so I can enjoy some portable gaming or on the MiSTer.
  2. $(#*! fq me. That's exactly what I was trying to say. I've been working late nights and when I'm done, I come here. My thoughts may not be clear... I was trying to say the quality of Atari Age stuff is vastly superior, but still gives me that euphoric rush I had as a kid. Even when I buy enhanced editions of modern console games, with statues, etc... they don't compare to the homebrew releases and the love you can feel emanating from them. I should probably stop talking. I wouldn't say I'm misconstrued, simply because my writing is often so bad.
  3. LOL -- it's not a big deal. I still get that rush that I had as a kid when I got a new game, except, of course, the box quality, manual, and much the art is of higher quality.
  4. The the Atari Age logo is on top, instead of bottom, and all the Vertical text is upside down. Oh, the horror!
  5. I live in Thailand and, yeah, I notice that. It seems to be mostly relegated to various formats. Haven't noticed it too much with Asian movies. Manga, of course. But actually, alot of European books seem to do this. Especially older titles. English, too. I just took a glance behind me at my video game collection, and didn't notice any that were inverted this way. I'm pretty sure I have _one_... maybe an old GB game. To anyone thinking my knickers are in a twist, please just laugh and relax. It's mostly a curiosity. Not sure my OCD can survive, tho! Egads!
  6. Looking forward to it next weekend! Too busy for the nonce. I left my collection in the states, and initially came here wondering if maybe, just maybe, there was a weird standard with 7800 games that would make the spine reversed. That seems like a tail-end Atari move
  7. LOL. Someone wants to rumble! I actually host a monthly retro-gaming night at my local bar, and these things all come out for people to enjoy. /smack! But, yeah, I'm a bit of a shelf queen. Everything looks soooo good, except for Baby Pac-Man! I'm trying to think of it like one of those buggered US stamps that are mis-printed and worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'll start using that as work when I mistake -- the more mistakes I make, the more revenue we make. Genius.
  8. Haven't played the game yet -- just got it through customs recently. Came to the thread just for this. Not a big deal. Just have a lot of collector pride in my homebrew section and this sticks out on the shelf
  9. I'm in Calgary for a short while (leaving on the 30th) and was hoping to bring back some older machines which are very difficult, nigh impossible, to find in Thailand. If you have one you are willing to part with, please let me know!
  10. Bit late to this game -- is it posisble to order one?
  11. Yes, I'm living in Thailand and miss my 1200XL and C64 machines. I'd be happy to buy working (NTSC) versions of either, and just as happy to trade. If you want to trade for something, well, getting Japanese equipment here is fairly simple and I'm happy to ship. As you might expect, getting semi-modern disc based machines almost guarantees they are modded (so you could, ehh, do some homebrew developement!). Cheers!
  12. Just moved to Bangkok and would be glad to meet up with other retro fans. I'll also be going to Singapore regularly, as well as other parts of SE Asia. I left my systems in the states, but, if I decide to settle here and create a long-term life, I'll probably import them. Maybe start-up a little pinball/retro arcade one day If you are in the area, please say Hi. PM me so we can grab some drinks, talk, and maybe get some gaming on.
  13. Sure, it's doable... but why? Paperboy was kind of a niche game, to be begin with. Some people loved it, many hated it. But has anyone ever played a console version and enjoyed it with standard controls? It needs those handlebars, only found on the cabinet. There, that's all the nay-saying I'll post on the topic.
  14. Yay! Frenzy is awesome. And while the 2600 version looks like it is shaping into something special, I still think the 7800 will produce something closer to the original. And as you added little tweaks to the gameplay of Circus Atari, maybe we'll see a classic and expanded mode for this. I'm sure there is room for some clever ideas, and maybe (as I'm often to say)... a little multiplayer! Speaking of multiplayer and shooting things, what about Wizard of Wor? That's a wickedly fun game. I'm guessing that there was no multi-tap for the 7800... team based Wizard of Wor? Awesome.
  15. I'd love to see a PacManPlus original creation one day. I'm not complaining. For whatever reason, I really enjoyed Moon Cresta in the arcades, although its rarely mentioned as a classic. So, I'm pleasantly surprised to see this is your next conversion target. Looks awesome!
  16. I'm going to allow myself to get enthused by this one. While not stunning, it remains faithful to style of the original, which is something I would not have expected. Maybe I thought they would try to be gritty, but am happily mistaken. The inclusion of multi-player is what will, I hope, make this a true winner. Thanks for the link! Something to look forward to when I return from a business trip on Thursday.
  17. This is very aggravating! Despite some people dis-liking wide-bodies, I love them. This game, thus far, seems like a lot of smart design is behind it. This could turn into a great playing game! But the theme... argh! Maybe, if it is truly awesome, they'll change the theme in the same manner Family Guy turned into Shrek.
  18. I'm fond of Eden, by Pixeljunk. Kind of arcade-ish. The Little Big Planet games also have a ton of co-op multiplayer.
  19. Yes. I'm a huge Warhawk fan. Good? It's great, but is certainly something that you should approach with an open mind. If you compare it to other first person shooters you may be disappointed. Regard it as its own beast with a unique disposition and you will be fine; it doesn't control like other shooters and is less of a twitch based experience. Still, action is frantic, there is alot of room for co-operation and tactics, and the balance is superb. Vehicles don't reign supreme -- land and air machines are at each other's mercy, while foot soldiers can also take them all out. I'd still be playing it religiously if it weren't for Battlefield 2: Bad Company. But Starhawk will probably get my money. It seems as if its going to take the Warhawk formula and give it even greater tactical/strategic possibilities (probably influenced by Battlefield).
  20. I'm guessing it is. I wish there were more strategy games for this console (and the 7800). Utopia was a great game, and with some tweaking, could be even better.
  21. No. Reason 1) I'm moving to Manhattan and doubt I'll have room for a bed, much less a pinball machine. This means my present collection of 20+ machines will be in storage. I'm not going to add to that, just yet. Reason 2) The fqn theme of the game! I wouldn't want that in my house. That's been one of my greatest complaints about pinball these days, is that the licensing is either a turn-on or a turn-off. Wizard of Oz looks like it may be a great game -- it certainly has the right people involved ot make it so. If I _do_ splurge for a modern game, I'd probably pick up the Stern Spiderman that has received a few choice software updates. Outside of the Sandman taking so prominent position, thematically, I'm ok with that one... But, if I have the cash to spend, I'll probably hold off until I find an environmental Discs of Tron.
  22. I have one of these. I don't know of any games, off the top of my head, other than Typing of the Dead that makes good use of the keyboard. But, truth be told, that's enough! Typing of the Dead rocks. And if you ever fire up the Dreamcast web browser, dude, you could do emailz! The game and the keyboard, if it runs you $20, is totally worth it.
