  1. The stock av cables have very poor insulation on them. I've always tossed 'em.

I think I have narrowed it down to a heat issue. The unit gets warmed up and then goes garbled in the 16 bit side.

The first time I used it I played the heck of the 8 bit games and when I switched to 16 bit nothing worked at all (the unit was

warmed up). I am seeing now that if I let it cool off it works and then about 10 minutes in it goes screwy.

  2. I thought I had fixed it , used different AV wires and it started working.

It worked for 10 minutes and played donkey kong country flawlessly then started up with garbled graphics again...oh well..

  3. These are sealed 1980 from Sunnyvale etc.

They aren't from Sunnyvale. According to the print on the box, they were made in Hong Kong. Atari's address is on the label because they were imported from the US for the Mexican market. Those boxes look like they were from the B&C ComputerVisions stock; they got a bunch of hardware from Atari Mexico when it closed. I've bought quite a few of their paddles myself, and they came in boxes just like yours. Leaving them sealed might make for an interesting collector's item, but I don't think they're especially valuable.

I read that they were made in Hong Kong but the importer was Atari in Sunnyvale.

Cool, ripping them open tonight, thanks for the info.

  4. I got these for less than $20 and they are sealed (3 sets) . I purchased them to use 2 sets and one set to give away to a buddy that just discovered his Atari 2600 again.

The fact that they are sealed gave me a bit of pause before I tore them open (I was not expecting that) . I know next to nothing about Atari Mexico but I noticed these came from Sunnyvale originally on the packing sticker.

I guess my question is...do I tear into these and start using them or should I save these for posterity (sealed as is)?

  5. Thanks for the response, I typed "3" instead of "World" for some reason. It was a typo on my part. SUPER MARIO WORLD

Ok all SNES titles (over 20 tried) did not work correctly and of course I know about cleaning carts. :)

I take it my FC is defective then.

  6. Well I got my new FC twin from amazon today and it played the NES games great but the grpahic in the SNES games look a bit garbled.

I tried many different SNES games including some that seemed to be cleared on the compatability list (such as Super mario 3).

Is this a known issue or is this a defecitve unit?

  7. For those that are interested here is an unusual auction for all three games (Swordquest Waterworld, Chase the Chuckwagon, Atari Video Cube) bundled together in a package

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 3205335837931?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=320533583793&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

Ends tomorrow and current bid is only $71.00 i will be watching this one, I have seen Waterworld and Chuckwagon alone go for alomost $200 each!

They all do look to be in great shape from the photo.

You will get a lot more visibility if you place this in the market place section under auctions.

  8. Wonder007 is taking offers for his extra copy.

Wonder's extra air raid sold to me a month ago.

That post was from a month ago. ;)

Better late than never........... ;) ;)

I agree, that is why I posted :)

  10. hasn't this description/story been used before - word for word - on a fake listing?

I don't know if this has happened, but this just feels fake. The wording just doesn't settle well with me.

I dunno... it seems real to me.

    I agree it seems real.

  11. I could not help but notice 3 seperate references or images of the Atari 2600 in the last 7 days or so. I took pictures of my television screen .

This was today on "America Live" on Foxnews during the day. They were talking about the 30th anniversary of Pac Man and they showed the arcade version. When they spoke about Ms. Pacman they showed the Atari 2600 version.

I saw an Everybody Hates Chris episode (I had recorded this one so not sure how far back it aired by but I saw it last night so it could not have been that long ago)the entire episode revolved around the new Atari that his friend had purchased. The Atari was shown in two seperate scenes and Missle command was shown on the TV screen as well as the actual cartirdge in the slot. The second scene showed a different cartridge but the same missle command game, so they got it half right.

The last one was a game tap commercial (I believe as I did not write it down and forgot what the commercial was but 99% sure it was game tap).

Talk about something iconic. 3 times in just a week or so on major TV networks.
