Another Atlantis II on ebay
Atari2600Lives replied to SpendTooMuchOnAtari's topic in Auction Central
I have seen this cart for sale before on eBay way back many years ago. Am I crazy or does anyone remember that? -
Well it is at least 6 !!!!!!
-
See post 60. Who won it??? Congrates to the seller. A nice hefty sum. Was it Wonder who won it? I don't have everyones feedback memorized like you guys - lol Congrats Scrabler! Now you can go to disney world! Wonder did not win it and I did not bid on it. This should put to rest all the recent talk of just 3 or 4 individuals chasing bids and driving the prices up Congratulations scrabbler and whoever the winner was . I am so happy for you guys! By My estimation it is the 2nd highest Atari 2600 cart ever sold after the famous Air raid (and beating out my Magi cart complete with letter at $6,700 for 2nd place ). Just awesome and also Wonder (Jose) was right on the money with his prediction on where this would end up, congrats on that analysis also.

I am amazed at all the young people on here, awesome to see and great post. I am 43, so I am on the other end of the scale.

Reveng has set the bar for offensive material so I will go back to simply showing how the Hoff feels about this thread.

I am afraid that everytime I log on and see this post at the very top it will get an ever increasing , offensive, Hasselhoff image...you have been warned.....

Chip N Dale NES was a pretty good game and the song just got stuck in your head. Here is a clip of the intro and first level

Well I did not find them in a goodwill box if that is what you mean but if money is all that it would take then I would have more than just eight R10s In this case it was not about money and more about opportunity. -

Atlantis II -
I just wanted to share this moment with my Atari brethern. It took me about 20 years to pick up four R 10s, Pepsi Invaders, Eli's Ladder, Music Machine and BMX Airmaster and due to Tanman's auction (as well as some negotiating and spending) I was able to double my R10s in a short period of time. If Tanman and Wonder did not combine for that historic auction I know at least 3 of these probably would not have happened for me. I am pretty sure this was a once in a lifetime run and I will be back to grinding it out soon enough.

Awesome, my favorite all time hack. ordering one of each label today.

Scrabbler where is the millipede coin op now? As far as playing backwards, I used to "dazzle" the arcade crowd back in the 80s and could do most screens of Dragon's lair facing away, nowadays it's hard for me to do it looking right at the screen unfortunately.

But the point is, he won't actually pay $700 for it and either will you. That's just what he thinks it's worth based on no historical or current sales data whatsoever. That's no different than me posting I think it's worth $5. Neither one of us has any basis for the valuation and neither one of us is willing to put up the money. What counts is current market value based on comparable sales. All of the cartridges you have cited above are rarities or at least very uncommon. I could just as easily post a list of tons of 2600 items that have sold for below the previous market value in the past few months due to the economy. A 2600A Promo edition only appeals to a specific segment of collectors and to date, I have never seen one go for $700. Could this change at some point? Could one of those big wallet collectors want one? Maybe, but until one sells for that amount, the best and most accurate estimate of the value is what the average of the previous sales have gone for and that's still a few hundred dollars. Boojay I won't disagree with what you are saying. The only reason I think it would sell for what I think it is worth is the condition as described and the recent up swing in prices for quality items. I guess I personally had not seen many mint condition sealed units. Also wolf, I am not sure I agree that there is only 4 collectors driving the prices up. The Air Raid auction caused the market to shift a bit and brought in a lot fo people from all walks of life that were not in the hobby previously. So has the price of a beat up box changed? probably not, but I will continue to believe that the price of a mint conditon sealed item has gone up. By the way this happens in all collector hobbies, something brings big publicity, the prices jump up and then after a while they stabilize again. The market for quality stuff is at an all time high. What stinks for me is that this is also the time when people come out fo the woodwork with real rare stuff and you have to fight to be able ot purchase the item. Right now it is a sellers market for rare high quality stuff. Again as Boojay stated there is no basis except my personal analysis of the last few weeks. Boojay wants ot go by past sales as an indicator and I want to go by recent market upswing, the truth is probably in the middle between what we ar eboth saying.

We shall see, I've seen no pics. And that was a hasty picture, it glared the corners a bit. CPUWIZ, I think you can add a great deal to this thread by simply saying what you will accept for yours. That should be a good indicator of where the market is (assuming you want to sell).
-
Ahhh that is sad, Ok, you have me against the wall...I will fork over $350.00 like Boojay said it is worth, c'mom it is a PM away (and I think the seller has one in better condition...you are winning according to this thread)!
-
CPU if it is cherry mint perfect like the seller says his is I will give you $250. PM me. let' see it....I will throw in shipping .

I think that is what I have been saying, around $700 and I am not sure if promo adds or detracts value but if it is in better condition , I think this auction you post is a good indicator of where the market is today. I'm starting to doubt you know anything about Atari at all. The auction pictured is for a six switch in an early box in mint/new condition. Those don't pop up every day and they have tons of nostalgia value. While $700 is high for that auction, it's not totally crazy. The OP was asking about a 2600A (i.e. a later model) in the promo box. Those have popped up very regularly in the past few years and many collectors just don't care about them. It's not like anyone remembers going to the store and buying a promo 2600A and certainly, unless you are a completist collector, there is not a lot of need to track down the 2600A promo boxed variation. As such, I believe your valuation is way off and unless you point me to some evidence to the contrary (i.e. other similar auctions for the same item), I'm going to assume you just pulled the number from nowhere. Bojay you found me out. I know nothing about Atari at all. I appreciate the correction. However I am waiting for your prediction as I said it was worth $700, you say $350? also point me to the atari 2600 promo item sealed that is in cherry mint condition that went for $350 . As soon as you do that I will declare you the all knowing collector of ATARI 2600 PROMO SEALED ITEMS MINT. You are close , just execute with the link. I am excited about this...I love awards. You said ONE SOLD TODAY $350.00 BUT IT WAS NOT IN SEALED BOX. So you do not think that one in a sealed box, in MINT condition is not worth another $350.00? I am starting to believe you know nothing about current market prices, sort of like I know nothing about the Atari 2600.
