I think that is what I have been saying, around $700 and I am not sure if promo adds or detracts value but if it is in better condition , I think this auction you post is a good indicator of where the market is today.

Hmmm Ok, Atari 2600 lives, If this was a cherry, original Sealed box, would you pay $700 for it? I think the real difference here is the expected cherry mint condition. I would love to pay $200 for it but right before I bid with a minute left I am sure at least $700 is what it will take to get it (and I will not be the one driving it up). It's not just the top 4 or 5 collectors on this one, I really think there are a lot more eyeballs on ebay since the Tanner auction made CNN world news. But as I have stated before maybe it goes for less . I am not an expert but I don't think $200-$300 is going to be anyhere near where it would go if it is cherry mint. Maybe when the market cools off but not right now.

Do you have any record of a promo 2600A ever going for that much? I have seen plenty of them sell mint/new in the box for $200-$400. In my opinion, they are actually worth less to most collectors given that they seem to be more common than vaders or woodys NIB and the box isn't as cool. $700 is what I think it is worth (as mentioned in my 1st post), specifically because of how it is described (totally mint). $1000-$1200 is what I think he will get (as mentioned in my 2nd post) specifically because of all the hoopla that has surrounded the Atari community after Tanman's auction. I'm sorry, but I don't see how there is a distinction. Unless your point is that it is worth $700 to you which means you should be offering him that much, but that's a worthless figure if you have some knowledge that others will pay more. Whatever the market price is would be what something is worth. While prices have been trending slightly higher lately, promo 2600As are still not super rare in mint/sealed condition and like I said, I have never seen one go as high as $700 and certainly not since they started coming up regularly. Sure, he could always get lucky with some buyer who is desperate and needs a new/sealed 2600A promo today, but that's pretty unlikely. There is a distinction of what one might think something might be worth versus what they think it might actually go for based on market conditions. As far as the actual price, I am not an expert on sealed units (never said I was)and I could be wrong, but I will tell you what, why don't you tell me what you think it is worth and we will see who ends up closer whent the market decides? What I think it is worth is $700 (as I originally posted)if it is in perfect condition as the seller describes.

WOW, that high? I could see a couple hundred. Any ideas how rare it actually is being a promo? If it is as described then I think $700 is a fair price. Also, as I have stated before I could be 110% wrong. I am not an expert on sealed promo units.

Not sure why so many threads get derailed /shrug. I think it is probably worth about $700.00. If it is in that good of shape maybe more (these are not exactly growing on trees anymore) but anythying over $1000-$1200 is probably unrealistic. That other unit is NEVER going to sell for $24,000.00, so you have a very cool item but a lottery ticket , probably not.

Ok here are two I would have loved to have seen. Iron man would have been a quest/action type game (similar in structure to Raiders of the Lost ark). Captain America would have been an action scroller set in WW2 (similar to pitfall in strcuture). and last but not least, I could not resist poking fun at my favorite football team.

cashcow6 If you can get some money buy the stella adapter (here at atari age store) and play with the original joysticks and paddles on your PC. It's awesome.

I found someone on the web making the Jaguar USB adaptation , I emailed them but never got back a repsonse. The above controller is actually a game board (gamepad), so it should have all the functionality needed. In theory it should just work. I will be getting it by Friday and will report then.

Have you tried emulation? It works great and I even use my original joysticks with the stella adapter they sell on the site. Anyway there are so many game I would not know where to start: Pirates Elite Microprose Soccer Pool of Radiance Mail Order monsters Hardball Leader Board Golf Summer games summer games II Winter games Red Storm Rising Starflight Silent service Airborne Ranger The Zork series (and all other infocom games especially hitch Hiker's guide to the Galaxy) F-15 Eagle Gunship test Drive So many more but I would be here for hours listing them.

That sounds right, I would have the third on the list. I am still curious as to why the white manual would have 1978 printed on it while the black ones have 1980. My recollection is that I purchased my cart summer of 1980 and it had the white manual I showed here.

I remember purchasing the Adventure game in 1980 , I have the white manual that says 1978 and the box that says 1980. I also include a black manual purchased recently that says 1980. 1978 date on white manual (box says 1980). 1980 date on black manual.
