No problems the person sent me the money back. Now since I have the money should I just tell the person to keep the game, and count my lucky stars that I have my money back? It's kind of wierd he sent you the money back though. If it is a scam he had your money so why send it back?....strange.

Nolan Bushnell Appointed to Atari Board
Atari2600Lives replied to Retro Rogue's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The title of the thread shows an incredible bias against Nolan I'll look forward to Nolan's repsonses on all the new allegations (one by one) when the books come out. -

Nolan Bushnell Appointed to Atari Board
Atari2600Lives replied to Retro Rogue's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I guess I still don't see the difference to what I've already stated. He's been directly interviewed by Curt before, we contacted him regarding some of Ted's statements and got answers back, his other statements and claims (multiple versions in direct interviews) have also been out there both past and present, not just decades old interviews. They're what we initially all started with before seeking everyone else that was around at the time to give their side in counter. It's the opposite, it's been his badmouthing and claims over others that needed another side presented, not the other way around. I'm not sure what more he can state regarding things like Pong and Al actually being the designer, or the fact every company of his has failed or gone bankrupt (which is a matter of public record), etc. Unless you're referring to some of Curt's comments of his business dealings with Nolan, which is between Curt and Nolan to go back and forth on. In my humble opinion........... I believe you should not go by past interviews when dealing with new revelations. Talk to Nolan and give him a chance to respond to each new revelation that cast a bad light on him. This not only would be the right thing to do but I think this will make your book even more spectacular. Just my 2 cents. Also , going by the title of your thread it is clear to me that you are 100% biased against Nolan or at the very least you have made up your mind about him before giving him a chance to specifically respond to each new revelation. -

Nolan Bushnell Appointed to Atari Board

Curt & Marty, I do applaud you for writing about video game history and specifically about Atari but I caution you that sometimes there really are two sides to every story. As an example (this is only an example and not to be considered factual) it could well be that Dabney simply was not pulling his weight and was forced out so the company could move forward (and of course Dabney would view that as being forced out while the partner or partners that stayed would view it as survival). There was a tremendous amount of success after Dabney left that lasted for a while. Have you contacted Nolan himself to get his side of the story? Also two things, I said I read every book and NONE claimed that Nolan did it by himself, so you saying I have miss information is not correct as I am telling you that Nolan was not a one man show. Also I know a thing or two about vision and success as an entrepreneur and I am telling you anyone that sold his shares before having success did not have it no matter what circuitry he designed. Good engineers are sometimes not good business men. Vision is not just about design. -
A bunch of dead presidents said. I'd be willing to bet that Atari2600lives has him beat. Well to be quite honest it probably has less to do with the dead presidents at our collecting level and more to do with commitment and drive to have a great collection. Wonder has me beat as far as atari collecting goes 100% (I bow to him and in fact have gotten half my R10s from him).

Nolan Bushnell Appointed to Atari Board
Atari2600Lives replied to Retro Rogue's topic in Classic Console Discussion
No hate, just facts. I'm sorry, but it's the other way around - Nolan tried to write other people out of the incredible history of Atari. Your statement on who founded it is a perfect example of that. LOL, the vision and guts was a shared one, which is the point. Bushnell bought out Dabney who was worried about the video game industry . DABNEY SOLD HIS PART OF THE COMPANY...hardly showing vision as you mention. No one has ever said only Nolan Bushnell was responsible for Atari's success. I have read just about every book on the history of Atari that has been made and no one said Bushnell did it by himself but he certianly played a BIG role in it. and by the way how is my statement that he co -founded the company not accurate? -

I am with Homer on this one. Nolan Bushnell can not be written out of the incredible history of Atari afterall he CO FOUNDED THE COMPANY! Congratulations to him in getting back on the board (and yes I know it's a different company). It takes vision and guts to start a company from scratch in a brand new field. Don't underestimate that factor and not everyone has what it takes. No matter what you personally think of him , if not for Nolan we would not have this wonderful Atari collecting hobby today. -
Ahhh thanks! I only bothered to look in the 2600 section

Sorry if this was already posted and I missed it here. This is WILD news. Apparently Atari founder Nolan Bushnell has ended his recent revisit with game development, as the publisher announced today the addition of Bushnell to its executive board alongside "online entrepreneur" Tom Virden. This is the second executive acquisition announcement that Atari has made in recent days, with John Burns, former European head of EA's online publishing, joining up just last week. The company has said it's focusing on moving towards an online-based business, and today's appointments will be overseeing that transition with the rest of the Audit Committee (a.k.a. the executive board). "I am very excited to be reacquainted with Atari at a time when it is poised to make interesting strides in key growth areas of the games industry," Bushnell said. "The company and its iconic brands have always been important to me, and I look forward to further guiding them at the board level." Meanwhile, Atari has also announced the resignations of David Gardner, former CEO and director at Infogrames, and Phil Harrison, former Atari president turned board member. Happy trails! http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/19/nolan-bushnell-and-tom-virden-join-atari-board/
