Need help with some Atari 2600 Jr. questions
Atari2600Lives replied to Atari2600Lives's topic in Atari 2600
There is not a white knob in the Jr. I took apart my bad one again and there are no knobs anywhere. I guess I am stuck with extra green screens! I will leave the ribbon cable broekn as this Jr. is not functioning well regardless. -
Atari game pads are they rare? Pics included....
Atari2600Lives replied to Atari2600Lives's topic in Atari 2600

My kid and my wife enjoy the games more with the pad....and..........I secretly get better scores....sssshhhh...don't tell anyone! -

Need help with some Atari 2600 Jr. questions
Atari2600Lives replied to Atari2600Lives's topic in Atari 2600
There are no pins on the cable it's a flat piece of plastic. Oh well, I am not that upset because that Junior was given to me practically form a trash bin and needs a lot of work anyway. The other one is perfect except for the color. -
I have a set of 2 button game pads that came with a 7800 unit I purchased on ebay. I use them with my 2600 (they are 2 button). They have amazing response and just work really, really well. I never hear them mentioned , I never see them for sale. In fact the only time I have seen them is when I opened the box form ebay and they were in there. My 5 year old also finds them easier to use. Who made these pads? are they rare? does anyone else use them? I would like to buy a set. Here is a link to a picture. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid6...1d/fbd19e49.jpg

I have a Jr. that I want to take on a trip with me but the colors are bit a off. The yellows show up as a green (green castle in Adventure looks cool but Pitfall is just ot much Green). How can I fix this? Alos I had another jr in a sad state that I took apart and the ribbon cable that goes form the rest buttons to the unit came off. Is it a matter of jammming it back in there? (that did not work) Thanks!

I was impressed as hell with the PSone screen. WOW, it actually made the games look a lot higher res. It's a lot nicer than the game cube screen. -
Game Cube LCD Screen just bought....Review
Atari2600Lives replied to Atari2600Lives's topic in Modern Console Discussion
If a kid is in a safety seat they ususally have like a clip on table that goes right in front of them (food tray). In Flroida, the roads are fairly smooth. The main reason is that we're renting a beach house that has one TV in the den. Now with this my kid has his own portable tv for the game Cube. -
I just got it for the GBA, I astrongly agree with your positive review. I think Donky Kong Country, the original on the SNES, is one of the historical highlights in the entire history of video games. Besides being the number one selling game of all time until the mid to late 90s (9-10M sold). It pushed graphics forward years. It looked better than most games did for 5 -6 years ater it was released. That is unheard of in the industry . The stamper brothers from England (creators of the game) pushed the envelope when they made this game. Not only was it an immense step forard graphically (load up and to this day it looks great, one classic game that my 5 year old drools over)it was a great game period. The pacing was great, so many things to do, the character animations themselves were wonderful. The musical score unforgettable. it was as close to a perfect video game as you can get.

Intellivision II Better Looking than Original?
Atari2600Lives replied to ussexplorer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Ok I guess I am in the minority here but I love my Intellivision 2. The brown one looks ugly to me but I guess the real reason was that the Intellivision 2 was the one I purchased originally and played the heck ut of....nostalgia wins over. BTW some Intellivision games do not play on Intellvison 2. -
I am going on a long vacation and decided to splurge $99 on a new LCD for the Gamecube so my kid can play anytime he wants if his mom or I are watching the tube where we're staying as well as give him something very cool to do during a long drive. I was surprised to find out that there are multiple makers of these LCD screens. I thought it was just one brand, Nintendo, and $129.00. They range in price from as low as $59 to around $129. I settled on the middle of the road $99 model. It snaps on in 2 seconds and just basically makes the Cube a bit bigger on top. There is a cable attached to the back of the LCD where you plug in the Cubes power supply and the same cable links itself to the Cube for video display. The screen looks pretty good if your looking dead on. It comes with a car lighter power source. Now the kids can be nice and quiet in the back seat or you can be playing while driving and about to cause an accident. The volume is good and the sound comes through fairly crisp and clear. It's a cool gadget. BTW I noticed the Playstation has one as well. (It actually improves the Playstation games as they seem higher res now!)

I was on level 40 and I came to post this letter and when I went back I accidentaly hit the escape key on the keyboard hooked up to my mame cabinet (instead of the P for pause). . I could of hit any other key and been Ok but the escape key shuts down the game. An Hour and a half and 1,2000,000+ points down the tubes.

River Patrol Proto or not? Help me on this one...
Atari2600Lives replied to insertcoin's topic in Atari 2600
How did you get the proto? -
Ok, I have Atari 2600, Intellivision, NES , SNES, Commodore 64, Vectrex, Odessey 2,Saturn,Genesis, Sega CD, 3DO,Dreamcast, Nintendo Cube, Xbox, PC games galore. I had never , for whatever reason, played a ColecoVision. Some friends at work swore by them and I thought I would give one a spin. I got one from Ebay and hooked it up today. Some of the games were really impressive visually, Donkey Kong and Centipede come to mind. Some had some real good game play like Space Fury (first time I ever played the game...real cool game and addictive), some were real hard to get used to like Time Pilot (the controls were strange). Some were just Ok like Cosmic Avenger and Turbo (I never playd Turbo correctly, amybe it's something I was doing but I could not get proper response form the controllers even thoguht they played Ok in other games). Positives: Overall the graphics on the Colecovision were very good. Negatives: The negatives are that I found the controls seemed real sluggish. Games like time pilot and Turbo were real hard on the hands. Even Donkey King felt a bit off. it seems like a delayed response sometimes. I had bad controllers to begin with, they were real sticky (I will address this on another thread), when I got a few that worked , it just seemed kind of unresponsive. Compared to the lighting quickness of old Stella , well it just does not compare. I am wondering if the responisiveness gets better with newer or better working controllers, is this sluggishness on the controls something that plagued the system? All in all I am happy with this addition to my collection.

14 New ColecoVision Games at Classic Gaming Expo
Atari2600Lives replied to digitalpress's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Awesome! I am picking one up for sure!!!!!!!!!! -
My wife put up a score last week on our machine that I thought was the most I had ever seen (173,000+) congratulations...that score is monstrous.

I like Space Invaders 2 player. I think it's amazingly fun. Both players playing at the same time , competing against each other as well as the invaders.....cool stuff. It leads to a bit of cut throat play...it's really, really fun if you have never played it. It's actually one of the few ports that improved on the original game concept. hey Super Psycho! I saw someone else with my avatar the other night, the one you made for me! (just kidding, no biggie but I thought it was funny).

Congrats! Can you belive I have been to 5 different Goodwills maybe 100 times each since the Mid 90s and I have NEVER seen an Atari unit. South Florida is the land of Sega for sure but I have never seen an Atari 2600 at a Goodwill.

Most Influential Video Game Console?
Atari2600Lives replied to Thomas Jentzsch's topic in Atari 2600
Well I just voted and the 2600 is completely dominating....as it should. Influential because other companies saw what profits you could have if it was done correctly.
