  1. I do not agree. There were many post praising him as a designer and also telling him to simply make the ROM available or telling him that they would pay for a reproduction of the game. he stopped answering because ....well....he stopped answering.
  2. That is one cool collection of Raiders carts. Congratulations!
  3. Rob, maybe some of these guys are use to talking to the "Rob Fulops" of the world but I am not...dude I am not worthy! thank you for your games. I was playing Demon Attack right before I logged on. Missle Command is also another all time classic. I personally would pay top dollar for the prototype and I would accept the distribution of it after the sale to the community. PM and let me know.
  4. This post is a timely thread for me! I just got my wife hooked on it this weekend. She played Saturday night, loved it and played again Sunday. She is a gamer (still owns me in a real Robotron machine with over 1 million points and she just got 173,000+ in a real Ms Pac Man machine this weekend as well). She loved Kaboom, it goes to show that a great game will always be a great game no matter the time period. My highest score ever is about 4K Her highest score so far approaches about 2K
  5. I bught my DC for $99 from a guy at work so that I could play Ultimate Fighting championship when it came out (great game). I could not resist picking up a new one at Toys R us when they were blowing them out for $49. So now I have 2! Soul Calibur is worth owning the console by itself, it really is.
  6. I got the game for the Xbox. It's a blast when your the Hulk and smashing stuff, specifically the first half of the game. It slows a bit when your Dr. banner and having to sneak around (although it is pretty cool on some maps). The second part of the game has you fighting tougher type ground troops (Big Robots). If your a Hulk fan or a comic fan it's a must. Otherwise a decent action/adventure game.
  7. I have a 2600 that was displaying the screen off to the left side. It sort of positioned everything off to the left and continued past what should be the edge of the screen. This morning it just went blank, an occasional blue pattern but basically it's gone. I have a few spares but my question is can this be repaired? Do you just throw this one away?
  8. Ok I am a lifetime resident of South Florida (Miami) I'm in.
  9. Actually , Kaboom is a zen like experience. You only knbow what I am talking about if you have played it late into the night. Also Space invaders 2600 is the greatest arcade to console transaltion EVER. It actually improved on an original classic. Who can forget 2 players at the same time cut throat action? Space Invaders Atari 2600 is enough to own the system just by itself.
  10. Adventure. It's not even close for me. But Kaboom and Pitfall "could be" a close second
  11. Picked up Desert Demolition (looney tunes) for the Sega Genesis for $2 today complete win box with instructions. Found about 7 Sega games in box with instructions, whomever owned them took real good care of these. Nothing like seeing a big $2 sign with permanent marker on the front of a mint box like that! It amazes me how good graphically some of the Sega games where. This game looks as good as anything that was made pre Dreamcast. hell it looks good today. Great game! Anyone else notice the prices for the old consoles going up at the thrifts? man a Sega unit that would of been $5-$7 a year ago , was $10 today. BTW Atari Dude, you have to check the thrift stores in the deepest parts of Hialeah! That's the trick!
  12. Like i mentioned before I had never seen one. I have been seriously collecting since the mid 90s. AtariDude and myself are in the South Florida area. Interesting that it would be common in Canada...I wonder if that has something to do with it having longer legs there (it was still for sale after it stopped getting made in the US for a long while right?)
  13. What's up Atari Dude? Good to talk to you again. I have been missing in action for about 8 months. I am back into the hobby. I had never seen a C64 before at a thrift store. All my C64 stuff is Ebay. I was pretty excited about the find but realized that it had a big "As Is" written on it which usually means "non working" in thrift store talk. I got lucky that the main unit worked. As far as the disk drive , I am still trying to get the smoke smell out of my office !
  14. I have other working drives but I am willing to trade. What are you looking for? I have Atari and Sega stuff.
  15. Of course I mean disk drive Well guess what? The main unit is doing great but the "disk drive" started pouring smoke out of the vents...nasty. Anyway I salvaged the main disk assembly section but the board inside the drive is history.
  16. Picked up an "as is" C64 at goodwill with power supply and hard drive for $9.99. Got it home plugged it in and got the intital screen then garbage then a blank screen. Second and third try it would not boot up at all. I simply removed 3 screws, unsnapped the back plastic case. Unscrewed the EMI shielding plate (4 more screws). Took an elctronic liquid cleaner and brushed it over all the chips, brushed all the sockets where plugs go as well (maybe 3 minutes total with unscrewing). Put the screws back and the case ,didn't even wait for it to dry, plugged it in and VIOLA! I am on my second game of Super Bowl Sunday...God I love this hobby.
  17. I have a comic book collection that is over 23 years old. My comics were bagged and in the garage in South Florida year around humid hot weather (the worst for the books). I recently re bagged the whole collection and aside from some slight crinkling on the bags (from the heat) and an occasional slight yellowish discoloration (on the plastic itself and not the books). it was in great condition. So much for comic bags screwing up anything.
  18. First off the 2600 version looks great. I will buy it the moment Atari age sells it. Dave, Star Fire is one of the reasons Video Games have been a life long fasciantion for me! Dan, you rock, I have always had a problem with my mame and Star Fire, it leaves all sorts of streaks on the screen. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
  19. Thnaks for the link Nukey, that was it!
  20. I saw a picture of an Atari 2600 console converted to a modern Pentium based PC (It was really, really, really cool). I lost the link. Does anyone have any idea of what I am talking about?
  21. $330 was a great deal! Good job! I rememebr when I got my Quadrun (for about the same price) it's pretty exciting getting it in the mail!
  22. The fact is that there is NOT a lot of profits in consoles. Sony being the exception. XBox has lost close to a billion dollars. (no joke) Microsoft did it more to check Sony in the living room (Sony was and is taking over). They realized form the get go they would "lose" all sorts of money with the hardware. There were rumors flying around that nintendo might be sticking to small form factors (like Gameboy) exclusively and licensing out it's software to microsoft and Sony . Ninento basically couldf be a devolpoment house..................... It would be suicide for anyone to enter the gaming console market right now.
  23. I have switched out the cartridge port...it's like having a new NES. try it for $8 ...problems gone.
