WOW! we must be the same age. This is also my first video game memory. Correct me if I am wrong but the mame version has never worked. This has to be the game I am waiting for the most....this is going to be amazing!
BTW dude what's up with clubstroke (the website in your profile)? I had to get up and take a bath after clicking on it (and hold down my dinner).

-
I ordered one straight from Germany and I am waiting for it...I'll let you know :-)

You did exactly what should be done.
There are a tiny few of us collectors out there that care about this stuff. people should be freindly in those situations. I had something like that happen where I got a "Justice league" cart for the genesis that another guy wanted right after he saw me pick it up. I saw how dissapointed he was and I handed it over (OK I would not have handed over a Quadrun....but at least I would of been freindly).
Guys who I run into for the most part are friendly back.

In my opinion:
Soul Calibur is the greatest game for the dreamcast.
It was released in 1998. It's still visually stunning.
Cool game.

Godzilla : Destroy all monsters.
Is my favorite gamecube game .
I own:
Mario Sunshine (2nd best game I have)BTW the camera angles can be re-set instantly by hitting the R +L buttons...
Madden 2002 (the best footbal game)
NBA Street (very addictive)
Simpsons Road Rage (fun especially if you like the Simpsons)
Star wars Rogue Squadron (classic game any system)
Bloody Roar (decent fighter)
Batman (It's OK never really got into it)
Luigi's mansion (I thought it was fun)
Waverace (not my cup of tea but my kid loves it)
NCAA 2003 Football (cool game)
Sonic Adventure battle 2 (very well done game, I am a Sonic fan so for me it's great)
Disney's Magical Mirror starring Mickey mouse (the game looks beautiful but there really is no game play, kid got bored in 2 days)

I have them all , I find myself playing the Gamecube almost exclusively.
Godzilla: Destroy all monsters really just did it for me.
Go with the Cube...it rocks.
-
I was tryig it out and got B-17 to work fine except the voice did not seem to work.
Am I doing somehting wrong or does it not emulate the voice portion well?
-
Just got the player's guide, well worth it as well!

Is there a collector's list for games considered 10s?

Gamera in a different film studio? That explains it.
I just went to Amazon.com and picked up the DVD movie Godzilla:Destroy all monsters.
It explains some of the choices for monsters. This is also suppose to be one of the best Godzilla movies. I think I have seen them all except this one.....funny....and it's the one the game is based on.

Punishing the space needle in seattle, doing a belly spalsh on the bridge in London, or just thrashing a San Fransico freeway (maybe it was another city
) does just fine....but of course New York would of been in the game.Tokyo seems claustrophic at times with the tall buildings ,New York city would of been the [email protected]!
The more I play this game the more I love it.
there is one other thing I have to point out.
Some of the names we have grown accustomed to , like Monster -zero for the 3 headed beast is replaced with the actual Japanese name....and one more thing...where in the hell is Gamera?????? I hope it's one to be unlocked !
-
My actual excitement and trying to share it with you guys blinded me to the fact that there was another post!
My God I AM THAT STUPID I did not even post this because of the "Atari" connection (I just edited my first post to reflect this)but now that you mention it.
There are Atari logos in the game that you can collect randomnly to unlock gallery pictures....now that is the icing on the cake!

There is 4 player for sure in the following game modes:
Melee Mode: free for all battle.
Team battle: red and blue teams battle it out.
Destruction Mode: See who can acculate the most damage points in a timed battle against the city.
Hope this helps.

I am really biased towards Japanese monster movies (I love them) so if your a fan of the genre then it's not a 10, it's an 11.
Straight up as a fighting game I would rate it an 8.5 This would be 2 montsters just going toe to toe and using the city for tactical advantage while fighting each other. It's fun destroying and hurling buildings (historical BTW as the cities are reproduced nicely).
Most of the basic controls are unique for each monster they do fight differently(each monster has their own special attacks as well). For example, pick a certain monster and you will waxed if you go in toe toe with Godzilla himself. There are flying attacks, laser beam eyes, fire , reproduced accurately from the monster movies. the sound effects are dubbed perfectly.
The military also zeroes in on you during the fighting and random missles come from everywhere. There are also Aliens in the game that leave power ups for you. You can randomly enlist monsters like Mothra (the butterfly) to fight for your side if you pick up the right power up.
there is an adventure mode with the alien invasion story line that ties a bunch of fights together.
Then finally there is a game called destruction. the object of the game is to destroy as much of the city as posible before time runs out. You can play cooperative with the other player or against (they score you individually for total mayhem)...yes it's as fun as it sounds.
All in all a solid , fun 8.5 game.
A Fighting game purist might complain that the mosters move slowly sometimes...but hey they are 200 feet tall after all.
The graphics are also done nicely, with good camera angles and nice effects especially in night fighting games.
The only real negative is the amount of monsters that you start out with and are able to choose...only 3...pretty weak(although all of them can fight you when you play against the computer).Right now I am looking for a cheat code to unlock all the monsters as I just want to play cooperative destruction and versus with my son. I am really not interested in pounding away at the story line to unlock more monsters.
-
I picked it up today and so far.....any game that let's you be a 200 ft monster with all the classic sound Fxs cool graphics and faithfully reproduced cites....and let's you destroy the cities in the process while battling other monsters, the military and even Alien Invaders....is all right in my book.
what....a....fun.....game
The Atari stuff at the start up screen is worth it alone!

It's a mistake to downgrade it to 9.
someone please listen to reason.
I know for a fact multiple music machines listed on Ebay have been the same cart.
Davekrg for one bought the cart and now sold it to me for $354.00 on ebay. That's the EXACT SAME CART listed 3 times this year.
Do not downgrade soemthing just because opportunist keep turing over the same one!

ooops. double post :-)

Punkoffgirl-
I am not sure what you mean," never intended for". It's a collector's guide with prices(incidentally the best one around and really worth the $25).
It guides you in cataloging your collection as well as determining what a price should be.
I see a price on the web. I check the guide. it's within reason I buy.
If I see it in the guide as a $$$/10 and someone wants $700 for it, then I might consider it as I am using the collector's guide to ...well...guide.
I pay $700 then lo and behold the next edition has it as a $100/8 .
I would feel a bit hosed by the guide.
That would be a drastic drop . It hurts the person using it as a guide. These games are sometimes 20 years old. The fluctuation should not be so severe is my other point.
Whatever the intention. it's a useful tool that is used not only by myself but many other collectors for the exact purpose stated.
I am not really complaining about the DP guide. I love the guide. it rocks. the Music Machine pricing in particular sort of threw me for a loop. In either case I just paid $350.00 for one. One of the cheapest prices I have ever come across for one. Yes...after seeing it for $150.00 in the guide.
-
The DP guide is amazing well worth the $25 and I recommend it to everyone with any interest in retro gaming. I also feel that the more info the better, so the Atari Age online price guide would be interesting.
-
If Music machine comes up 2 or 3 times a year on Ebay (and I agree it does )it should be a 9.
Music Machine has actually come up about 4 times this year and 2 of them where the same unit being resold). It should be at least a 9. I mean there are a ton of 8s...Music Machine can not possibly be lower than a 9 If you apply the same logic as the other carts in the DP guide got.
I know I am nit pciking but 8s in the guide are ususally $50-$75 all of sudden BOOM you have an 8 in the guide at $150.00. If it was a 10 in the last guide then they should down grade slowly. Maybe a 9 this year, revisit it again after a year and maybe it deserves an 8. To go from 10-8 actually screws some people that depend on the guide for pricing their carts on Ebay, game stores, internet news group tansactions etc. etc.
I had a very reputable collector offer me his music machine with manual for $1000.00 Yes, I am a hard core collector and I almost bit ...you know what ? I was depending on the guide for pricing. A 10 with no price limit makes it possible for hard core collectors to believe that this game could be worth that.
Atari Age should consider pricing the carts in their rairty guide(I know it's a massive undertaking ) . The more pricing info the better. The DP guide is awesome and I recommend it.
Well in either case these are my thoughts.

It's amazing to me how you simply could not just put the orignal Rom of Adventure....how hard would that have been? My lord why would you mess with something like that.
It's like getting the original Mona Lisa and adding a mustache...some things just have to be left alone.
I for one am down by this news and will probably skip the product.
I wanted so much for this to be something cool.
Thanks for the review.
-
Thanks for the response. I try to avoid the DP forums...I have nothing against them and I buy the guide every year...it's just I would rather hang out here.
Ok makes sense, but I do not agree.
-
I was flipping through my DP guide today and saw a particular 2600 game.
Music Machine downgraded from a $$$/10 to a $150.00/8
I have never heard of an 8 for $150.00 and I have never seen a game downgraded like that. music Machine is about as rare as they come (a 10 here I believe). Anyone have any thoughts on why this happens in the DP guide?

I own an actual 25" screen MK2 stand up (my e-mail address is MK2 for goodness sakes!)
MK2 definitely one of the best fighters ever made.
