Well i think it was 'complete' pre-Tramiel because what became Solaris was originally made to be the The Last Starfighter game, and when the movie underperformed as well as the takeover, the license was scrapped gavv

yeah, wolfmame is just a different build (runing wolfmame .78) since it's what twin galaxies uses as the system settings for their competitions gavv

thing is, it works fine in Stella, but not in MAME gavv

problem is, when in the TAB menu, the joystick is continually registering as 'up', so the menu selection is near impossible to make ^^; gavv

Carol Shaw goes from 3D Tic/Toe to Checkers to River Raid!!
gavv replied to Kenwood's topic in Atari 2600
Probably just retired form game making and moved into consulting. Alot of programmers did that. Also don't forget she did Happy Trials for the Intellivision. Tempest She married Ralph Merckel(sp?) who pioneered RSA security, and after activision (according to David Crane at the 2002 activision panel) went back to Tandem computers (where she had worked before atari, doing non game-ly 'serious' type multiprocessor computing stuff ..) and has 'been long since retired'. gavv -
hm, a quandary, just got a stelladaptor and trying to get it to work in MAME (have wolfmameplus .78), and can't get it to work. even after going thru the windows settings->game options and setting controller options inside mame, all i get is a joystick that either constantly is set going up and or left, or one that will only move right or up ...am i missing some sort of set up or calibration?.. gavv

one question...i just got the Stelladaptor (but was silly not to have also ordered the cable...thinking that there had to be a brick n mortar place that had relatively inexpensive cables ......), but hadn't found a cable in a store less than like $25 o_O...before I go ahead with doing another order, does anybody know a store chain that would have a decent cheap USB cable ?... gavv

Upon picking an Intellivison at a garage sale...
gavv replied to joeybastard's topic in Classic Console Discussion
as the person who currently holds the TG world records in both Intellivision and CV burgertime let me tell you that the CV/Arcade game is MUCH MUCH EASIER than Intellivision. Intellivision has much more challenging levels and speed as it gets up higher in levels. The CV version is relatively marathonable. only a undocumented as yet not nailed down glitch in the game keeps the scores down (currently) at just below the 500K level. and for Intv, the best i've gotten is like 332K gavv -

STUN Runner for Xbox, GCN, PS2 : Cancelled
gavv replied to Sega Ages's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'm actually pleased that they have Wacko in it, and dual analog controls could make a workable analogue to the unique arcade control scheme. now hopefully they'll actually make the presentation itself halfway decent and accurate this time -

Course there is also the strange story that was related from the Atari developers side (think it was Rob Zdybel in the 2002 CGE atari programmers pagnel) that ray kassar personally had demanded and got a controlling interest in GCC in the whole lawsuit deal, and was a main reason why gcc got the 'sweetheart contracts' (not in terms of terms but got to do a lot of the premiere titles ie battlezone, poleposition, digdug, etcetc) and things like ms pac man being budgeted 8k isntead of the 4k that Pac Man had to be done in. gavv

What did this Activision programmer work on?
gavv replied to Atari Rescue Group's topic in Atari 2600
He was one of the original 4 'East Coast Design Center' guys with garry kitchen iirc. gavv -
Hopefully it's better than the very lame episode of Icons on Activision (probably their worst they've ever done, which is unfortunate, since it's normally excellent and by far their best show) they did in their first season in 2002. Not a single alumni developer/exec interview/talking head piece, with only about 3-5 of the 22 minutes of the show dealing with anything pre-Bobby Kotick-era gavv

And I've Added Atari Babe pics to my site. Link within
gavv replied to Atari Charles's topic in Atari 2600
i think the url right in the pic, E3girls.com kinda tells you it was at E3, ie the Infrogrammes->Atari booth babes -
he really got into games back then from hosting Starcade, his favorite was sinistar but played nearly all (he also really liked Bagman from what i remember from the show). What is lesser known is that in the Quake era, he became a really big fan & player of multiplayer deathmatch. gavv

It could be argued that PacMan was a much more important title for Atari than the 8K Asteroids. -Bry it was purely a cost matter, they wanted the extra profit margin on only using 4k roms instead of 8k gavv
-
well, i assume he means he would like to see full vhs res capped files rather than possiblity shrunken resolution divx tweaked ones ^^ gavv

The PC & Mac versions of the Anthology contain the homebrews tho! -PongHit Homebrews (and even downloadable 'extras' ) were slated for the ps2 version as well iirc, and i'm sure KLove can point out the appropriate thread ^^, but *Sony* put the kabash on downloadable content for the PS2 version (ie having something that someone in theory could turn around and hack it to play any roms)...I *think* i'm remembering it right ^^ gavv

Most of the stuff used in the episodes they showed Sunday: 201 Atari 214 The Crash was all interview stuff done at CGE2002 (along with the HSW/Jay Smith doing funky dances in the 'Know Your History' bumpters). The Filter 'Greatest Old School Console Games' episode host segments were shot at CGE2003. gavv Ahh, that would explain why the Atari/Crash segments looked crowded (and I remember it being that way too) and why the Filter segment looked like Mizota was standing in an empty arcade. Poor Diane! I wish I had been there to give her a big hug and say I Filter, and that she should be on G4TV.com instead of the annoying guy who hosts now (plus it would give the show a whole Charlie's Angels angle I'd love). G4TV.com is an extension of the old 'Game Time' net talk show that was part of the old Pseudo.com which Scot hosted. and actually it would depend on the day, filming on sunday would have revealed a smaller crowd in 2002 as well (like when G4tv.com filmed segments there Sunday in 2002 - I got to hang with Thug n T-dub ... gavv

Dragon's Lair II will be a long time in coming since it is based on a radically different set of hardware than the original LD games were. It used an Intel 386 'pc-based' hardware to run the game as compared to the (z80 based) that was used in the original, so Daphne would need a whole new processor emulator 'grafted in' so to speak ^^. the creator of Daphne was interviewed last year on www.retrogamingradio.com from cge2002 i believe. gavv

In a bizarre sense of irony, you could use clips of 'Video Killed the Radio Star', or the infamous landing on the moon/MTV promo clip. gavv
