I don't think too many games is necessarily bad unless you are used to buying them all and all the sudden you realize you can't anymore. I had to get over the urge to collect them all. I was into ColecoVision and sold off my collection about a year ago too. Just got burned out on it completely. I have since just bought the games that actually look fun to play. Most of the homebrews I sold off I didn't miss at all which made me realize the difference in a good port or original homebrew and a rushed port that was just put out there to pad up the library. A few of the Colecovision games I have since tracked down again. Some were really good. Most were not.

COLLECTORVISION - Official Thread for PRINCESS QUEST
UberArcade replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I received my copy. Everything looks great. Thanks for putting this game out. My one critique is I wish the box was made of thicker card stock. It is so fragile. Also those notches on the flap of the box make it impossible to open without bending the top all up. Maybe this can be addressed in newer game releases. -
This looks really good. I loved Bruce Lee on the C64. I hope somebody releases it on cart.

Dungeon Hunt Cartridge - Interest Check
UberArcade replied to jacobus's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I got my copy and played it a good bit last night. I love it. I had a good time playing it, and I dig the homemade packaging. Thanks for putting this on cart. -
Paradise Arcade Shop makes the aluminum ball tops. You can get a replacement for the Sanwa JLF anywhere though. There are tons of options. The aluminum ones I use also have an adapter on them since the stock Sanwa ones are a little smaller.

FYI, I have parts for 4 more joysticks if anybody still wants one but was just holding off for a while. Not sure if I will keep this model going. It is possible. Once I use up these last overlays I will have to order a large quantity again.

Wow, that box art is fantastic. Are you going to offer any posters with that art on it?
-
Yep, I sell them from my website. $225 with free shipping. I do have parts on hand for a few right now. It has been hard to keep up though. http://classicjoysticks.com/

You Can't Take it With You (?)
UberArcade replied to First Spear's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I just try to make sure my wife knows which pre-orders I am waiting on so if I die she has a chance of getting them. I know they will ship eventually. -
The Multicade boards are great. I have one in a Galaxian cabinet that had been gutted. I just put one of the Happ pac reunion 4 way sticks in the cabinet and I don't play any of the games on there that need the 8-way stick. You can change out the restrictor plate on the Sanwa I use for the 7800 joysticks too. The Zippy has it built on but the Sanwa just snaps in so it isn't much more effort to swap it.

Starting Diablo II for the first time
UberArcade replied to edweird13's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The game starts out fantastic, but really turns into a grind. Just keep powering through the grind part. I played the necromancer. Good times. -
I think a lot of people are missing the point he was making in the article. Most of the people from the early video game days are still here and they should be the source not a guy who wasn't there. Sure when they have all gone on to glory you will have to hear the history from somebody else. But no sense in having a guy my age tell you the history of Atari when I didn't actually work there and the people who did are still around. Just get off your ass and interview the people who made the history. That is the point I got from it and I agree. I don't need to see Wil Wheaton or somebody like that tell me what is was like to work for Atari.

Sega... pretty much dead in the water :(
UberArcade replied to Torr's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Sega isn't dead yet. Everybody said Nintendo was dead last year and look at the amazing games they put out. Sega has been making mediocre games and to be honest there are probably a lot of people that need to get the boot at Sega. Parts of their business still make money though. Their games do sell. Hopefully they bring quality games to mobile and still make a handful of great console games. the thing that worries me is their statements about committing more to Sonic. I don't see many fans asking for more Sonic games. I see fans asking for Shenmue, Streets of Rage, Crazy Taxi, etc. -
Pretty sure this is just a way of showing off your collection to people. I doubt he really wants or expects to sell anything. If the game is super valuable to him and he doesn't really want to sell it then you put a crazy high price on it. It is strange to me, but I am not sure it hurts anything about the hobby. Also those games technically aren't allowed to be sold on ebay since they are unauthorized ports, but that is a different topic which has been beat to death. I am just entertained by how long this thread has gotten. Work is boring today

You mean there is always ebay so you can buy another 7800

Neo Geo's in a converted cabinet go pretty cheap, but dedicated ones in good condition can still fetch a decent price. There are plenty out there so I would track down a dedicated one. For a nice one I could see paying between $400-600 depending on the model. The 6 slot maybe more. Maybe $200 for a conversion cabinet. Auctions are fun, but I mostly see crap machines at them now with only a few gems in there. People sometimes get caught up and over pay for beat up machines. Last auction I went to a guy paid like $500 for a beat up DK Jr that had screen problems where I paid $400 for my near mint one from a local collector.

It is something I am messing with. I'll only do it if I can get it to look good though. I have also resumed game development (not 7800) which is going to eat up a lot of my life in the near future.

Quick update: I have three joysticks built and ready for sale. You can buy them at http://classicjoysticks.com I know people are typically all spent out after Christmas though. If you plan to purchase one in the future you may want to do so in the next couple of months. I have used over half of the overlays I have. I will probably not print more of this design after they are gone. Just wanted to let people know who are on the fence about buying one that this will be a limited thing. I will be doing some other related projects. Thanks

Capcom made two D&D arcade games. Both are great games. It is available on the Wii U virtual console and Sega Saturn. Not many ports were made.

Which should I get: Neo Geo AES or Neo Geo CD?
UberArcade replied to Starf's topic in Classic Console Discussion
If you haven't bought one yet I would get a dedicated MVS arcade cabinet. They can be found pretty cheap. Probably about the same you will pay for a CMVS setup. I have a dedicated 2 slot cabinet. It is better. No home joystick will match the sturdiness of a real arcade cabinet, and a real arcade monitor is the best way to view those games. There is always room for one arcade game. -
If anybody is interested John (Gamester81) did a video on the arcade joysticks. Check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-aKdUGMJhc

I got my mvs copy of Razion. It doesn't play real nice in the two slot pcb either. I had to boot it with Magical Drop II in the other slot to get to the bios and then change Razion to run in MVS mode instead of home mode (which was the default). Then I was able to operate it with Fast Striker in the second slot. These games just behave weird in a real MVS setup. My two cents if you put a game on a MVS cart is should behave like a coin op game. I am happy to get these games, but for the price you may be better off getting the AES versions. The packaging is sparse and pretty cheap compared to the AES versions. You get the cart in a brown box with a flyer and cabinet "move sheet" printed on very flimsy paper. No marquee or mini marquee. I wished they went ahead and made the print materials good quality and did proper mini marquees. They are almost at commercial Neo Geo quality with their game releases, but some of the finishes is where they fall short. The game is fun though and if you are into Neo Geo you should try to get these games in some format.

Question for you guys about "Bently Bear's Crystal Quest"
UberArcade replied to PacManPlus's topic in Atari 7800
It would be nice to get the game out there. I could see the Pokey thing still being an issue this time next year. That is just the way things go. In another year you could already have BBCQ 2 finished. I am hoping for an eventual trilogy.
