  1. Just some further thoughts...

This is an AWESOME stick, no question about it. However, I have noticed that it's not very responsive if you need to make very quick turns. Case in point -- any of the Pac-Man games in "turbo" mode, including both the 7800 PacManPlus-created games and on MAME as well. Works fantastically well otherwise.

And now thanks to the ÜberArcade joystick and the USB adapter I just bought, I'm now VERY addicted to Tapper. :)

Yeah, I am still not satisfied with playing Pac with any 8-way joystick even the switching ones. Turbo mode is tough overall. I don't like the speed up mode on a real arcade game either since I usually zoom past where I want to turn.

I think the only solution is going to be a new Pac-Man themed joystick with a good 4-way stick on it. Maybe a dual stick Robotron themed one too while I am at it. :)

  2. I am selling two of my early 7800 joysticks projects if anyone is interested. $75 shipped in the US. Outside US is extra for shipping.

They both work fine. I just don't need them anymore.

One is a hard ABS plastic case with an OMNI2 4/8 way switchable joystick. (black ball top, red buttons)

Other is an aluminum case with an 8 way leaf switch joystick. (red ball top, yellow buttons)

    Both have leaf switch buttons.

They work like the 7800 Proline joysticks with two button mode on the 7800 and one button mode on the 2600.

Send me a PM if you want either one.

  4. Glad to hear everybody is liking them so far. I did get more parts in so I am assembling a few more this week. If anybody would like to order one let me know.

Btw, my favorite game to test these with has to be Scramble. Just so much fun.

  5. I tested Fast Striker with my 2 slot pcb more last night.

Fast Striker + Magical Drop II, Bust a Move, or Gunlord = Machine works fine. You can switch games, enter dip setting menu, etc. Fast Striker goes to the Menu Screen for you to press start.

Fast Striker solo = Game just starts up with a selection timer. Doesn't go to menu screen. Can't enter dip setting menu

Fast Striker + (KOF2003, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, SVC, Nam, finally stopped testing) = Either Fast Striker plays as a solo game and the second cart is not recognized at all, or the machine won't boot at all. Can't enter dip menu

So it seems like this game only play nicely with a few other carts. Kind of a bummer since I like to keep either a Metal Slug or fighting game in the other cart slot for parties. I am guessing they just don't test these in a real coin op setting since most people are not running them that way any more.

But the game is really fun. Given that it is a early homebrew of theirs they get a pass on 100% compatibility. I just hope Raizon doesn't have these same issues since they are several games in at this point.

  6. I've heard of NG: Dev games not working in certain slots.

With Fast Striker: Did you buy a coin op copy? I know they used to sell two different versions.

I thought I did buy a coin op version. It was called the Game center Kit, but now I am thinking not. It is version 1.5. From what little I have seen online it looks like it should work with other carts and the soft dip menu should come up. So far it hasn't been working that way. I will have to try putting other carts in there. Kind of frustrating for a very expensive game to behave this way.

  7. I got a copy of Fast Striker MVS the other day. I planned to run it in my 2 slot cabinet. It doesn't allow the second cart to run which I found really strange. I tested with several games. It also doesn't support coin op mode or dip settings even though it has a dip sheet with it. After looking online I guess the cart has v1.5 on it and there is a v1.6. Don't know why the new cart shipped with the older version. Anybody know the deal with running this game in coin op mode?

  8. I shipped out all of the paid orders today. The remaining ones I have parts to build have been spoken for.

If you plan to buy one soon or want one available before Christmas let me know. I will have to order more parts. I would rather build them now since I have my work space setup for it. I don't mind holding one for you for a couple of weeks.

    Thanks!

  9. I have always heard that the MVS is cheaper to collect for than the AES. I have had an MVS for a long time and used to get games very cheap, but recently the MVS prices have gone way up. Except for a hand full of rare AES games I think collecting the MVS to save on prices isn't so clear a choice anymore. Thoughts?

    Anthony...

I like the systems they build, but this looks pretty ugly and ridiculous to me. Just buy an MVS arcade cabinet and be done with it.

  11. any plans for sloped case version, i.e. lower in front and higher in back?

No Plans for a sloped case.

I do have three available right now. The others have been spoken for. Let me know if you want one.

I will also post some new pictures. Unlike the one pictured the final ones don't have any visible joystick bolts. I got some new countersink drill bits. :)
