Why do I see so many Star Ship carts with no end label?
Trinity replied to nester's topic in Atari 2600
It is because the game was soooooo awesome people just played the crap out of it causing the labels to fall off completely. Haha, A lot of people diss this game, But I love it! A video game with space ships you could shoot on paw's big color tv set in the 70's was as good as it got. Afterwords getting to see that good rerun of star trek where Kirk destroys that Romulan stealth ship, while eating a Swanson salisbury steak TV dinner...(in the foil tray), Then off to bed. Ahhh, those where the days. -

Sounds like the 7805 voltage regulator has gone bad in your 2600. It's an easy fix, and they are only a few bucks at Radio Shack. http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/145631-help-me-fix-my-1st-2600/page__fromsearch__1

So is that place still selling those? I need a few of those games.

Goto Radio Shack and get a can of "control contact cleaner and lubricant" part # 64-4315. Kind $$$ @ 11.99 a can, but it works great. Also works real well for the paddle controlers.

Would like some advice on this, What chip is bad? http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=146943

Ok, cleaned the cartrige port, No change on the scrambled picture problem. I got into the RFI cage and checked the 3 main IC's, they are socketed and look very well seated. No corrosion to be seen. Pressed them down and wiggled them, Still a garbled picture. What chip is most likely to be bad? TIA? RIOT? or 6507? I can't swap chips yet... I need an IC extractor first.

I bought a lot of two vaders (as is) for $7 bucks on e-bay. One has some serious problems, It acts like the cartrige port is dirty. But no matter how many times I try, it won't work,,, just a scrambled picture. (what causes this problem)? And it has a broken pin on the left controller port. Pin one, BTW. Is pin one very critical? The other working one's case was almost fubar... And it's working mobo was rusted and it's case looked like it was sitting in a muddy leafy garage for the last 20 years. Took the best of both units to build this. I guess I'll use the other one for parts. Three hours cleaning and rebuilding later.

In the movie Gran Torino when he is in the basment with the kids there is a 2600 joystick that appers a few times.
