  3. Speaking of the copyright problem :

Does anyone need a picture label of this game or would it be ok to use the white-label label as on the SALU carts ?

Or maybe a picture label with just a screenshot, not the actors?

Another idea is : Sell it with white label, so nobody complains, since there is no Ghostbusters logo, no actors, nothing.

But offer a nice label for download , so anyone interested can dowload it and remove the white label.

    Thimo

P.S. : I still need labels for ACID DROP , My Golf and the 8 BitCorp games and Forest for the NTSC versions.

If someone can design them, please email me.I´ll pay for this.

  4. I have no problem getting a game without a box. I don't buy games just to resell them, I buy them to play them. A box is nice from a collector's point of view, but i'm more interested in the game itself. As long as there's a xerox of the instruction manual so I can figure out what the game's about.

Ok , the original instructions of Ghostbusters 2 are in 3 languages - English, French, German. They are nothing special, just standard laser-printer - made SALU instructions.

BTW. Ghostbusters 2 seems to be the same game on all the systems - it´s the same game as on the AMIGA/ATARI ST ,C64 or other systems.

    Thimo

  5. You mean like this ?  :D

Nice label, but I wonder if the Ghostbusters copyright owners might complain. Maybe we should organize this less prominent?

I think nobody will complain if I sell original Ghostbusters 2 games with an added NTSC version with a new label.

If this is a big problem because it´s a movie game, I may just use the white label the PAL version has. This label was made with a laser printer, there a 2 different versions : SALU cart with ROM and TELEGAMES cart with EPROM.

But I´m in Germany, nobody complains about old ATARI games and I only sell them outside of Europe and it´s just a label for an original game that has a plain white label.

Good that My Golf and Acid Drop will and Forest and the Bitcorp games won´t cause these problems.

    Thimo

  6. I'd happily buy it minus the box, actually.

Yes, this is a good idea, too.A version - box (the instructions are very cheap , made with a laserprinter) would be cheaper , at least $5.

BTW. I use 100% new Super Breakout picture label carts for this project. This is an ultra-common game and I have lots of it.

So these carts will look really new.

    Thimo

  7. I's be more interested a CIB Salu version in PAL format, but this is a great project.  I'm sure you'll have some interest.

The first buyers will get the SALU PAL PLUS the NTSC cart. But there are only 30 originals left and all newly produced Ghostbusters 2 copies will be NTSC only.

My Golf will be HES white label PAL + NTSC version , too and Acid Drop SALU PAL cart + NTSC cart.

That means buyers get 2 carts , PAL and NTSC.

    Thimo

  8. They are boxed and look like new, but they don´t work.

Your sprite in a game (I usually check with "Frostbite") always moves down or to the left.

I check the contacts in the joystick and they work for some time and then they won´t work again.

What is the problem with these joysticks ?

BTW. There was a small green sticker on the bottom of each joystick.

  9. I think some of the box-scans are not in the database, since I have some versions released only as PAL - SALU white label Activision and IMAGIC games and others.

I made the new scans at 300dpi, some older ones of games I don´t have anymore are 75dpi.

cartridge scans follow, but usually white label carts look not very special (that means they are extremly cheap, made with a laser printer I think).

  10. Hi,

I´m about to produce the NTSC version of this game (and Acid Drop and My Golf) as soon as I get the PCBs.

Since I have only 30 boxes and manuals I ask if it would be a good idea to create entirely new boxes. This is expensive and I must order at least 100 , so the question is - are there 130 or more buyers for an NTSC Ghostbusters 2 for about $25/game?

There are enough My Golf boxes and I doubt that many buyers are interested in Acid Drop,so the 30 copies should be enough.

BTW : Still need a good high-quality label.I made some 300dpi scans of this game and need a label fitting on a standard ATARI Super Breakout cartridge and an end-label.

Same for Acid Drop and My Golf.

  11. Hy Thimo!

Yep i had the same problem with the games youi sent me recently...also with the activision white label carts....

I also supposed that new carts have to loose a sort of "virginity"  :D  :D  :D .

Anyway soon you'll receive a new envelope from me ...

    Ciao!!!

The Activision white label carts are the SALU carts - they don´t fit well into old 2600 systems, this is known. You can read "SALU" on the back of the box.

But I never had the problem with silver label Telegames carts especially because they were not made for the European market were the junior was more common.

They fit into my 4-switch 2600 without problems and 6 switch consoles are kind of rare in Europe (never had one).

And Telegames used the same carts for Imagic and CBS re-releases.They also fit in the 4-switch system.

I´d say if I offer carts on ebay the buyer should ask before if they fit in a 6-switch system.I would tell them "I don´t know" since I never had a 6-switch system, so they may decide to buy or not.

I check every not shrinkwrapped cart, but I only have a junior,a 7800, a black 4-switch and a Coleco with 2600 adaptor and I do this for free - since it´s known that especially SALU and Telegames often have wrong carts inside boxes, for example Video Chess on a Bump n Jump cart.

    Thimo

  12. I´ve sold many Telegames carts through ebay and large lots to several traders.

Now someone complains and says that these carts only fit in the junior system.

But I´ve checked all the carts to find out if PAL or NTSC and I have a junior,a 7800 and a black 4-switch.They fit and work.

Nobody ever complained and since all the Telegames carts look the same, this really cannot be ?

I mean all the Telegames carts are standard silver label carts and all look the same - Bump n Jump,Kung Fu Superkicks,Lock n Chase,Quest for Quintana Roo,Nightstalker,Bogey Blaster,GX-12,Deadly Disks,Astroblast, Space Attack,Armor Ambush,International Soccer,Super Challenge Football, Super Challenge Baseball are the games I have sold and never, ever had someone complaining about not fitting into the console.

The same carts were also used for some Commandos,Ghostbusters 2, Pick n Piles and other white-label carts, but they are different from the "light" Salu carts (these don´t fit well in old consoles) since they are the "heavy" EPROM Salu carts, which are not as common.

It´s known that SALU carts don´t fit in 6-switchers, but not telegames carts. But I can´t believe that they don´t fit in 4-switchers since they fit into mine.

    Anyone knows more?

  13. what about ITT hell driver, It seems to be an original....

 Yup, according to CloneSpy ;) Hell Driver (aka Trafic) is an original.

Has anyone figured out how to actually play this game?

Hell Driver is the only ITT game I have complete in box with instructions.

If there are no instructions available, I may scan them.

BTW:These games are common in Europe, collectors should try www.ebay.de (ebay Germany), ITT games often are in lots of 5-10 games for a few bucks, if you want to collect them.

But boxed ones are not as common.ITT games had plastic boxes.

  14. Your a brave soul for even considering this project. But I have an idea you might add. Since the 2600 only has 1 fire button why not use the switches on the 2600 itself like in Space Shuttle for example.

This is an idea, but such games don´t play well on the junior system or the 7800 with their small switches. And I´m using a junior system and a 7800.

But if I go 16K, I could add 2 different control schemes.

The only problem is that I have no 16K carts yet for testing on the real thing , only 8K ones.

    Thimo

  15. Will a joystck option be available in the Platinum Edition?

The problem of Joystick control is that joysticks have only one button, so an extra menu has to be added.

But getting Keyboard Controllers is no problem.AFAIK they are compatible to the Video Touch Pad and the Kids Controllers AND I still have quite a lot so that a special edition including Keyboard Controller + Overlay would be possible for those who don´t have one.

  16. Hi,

I´m working on a 3D-role playing game for the ATARI 2600.

This game will be similar to classic 3D role-playing games like "The Bard´s Tale" , that means mazes with traps, monsters and other mean stuff , something for cartographers.

I will include at least 40 dungeons, but I´m not 100% sure if the game will be 8K or 16K now.

The first version will be 8K only I think , I´ll post a demo + screenshots as soon as possible.

Please note : This will be a game designed for Keyboard Controllers for easy 3D movement - step forwards, backwards, turning, sidewards and keys for resting and inventory and fighting. This is better than joystick-control in such a game.

    Release : Not before 2004

An advanced version of this game already exists for the ATARI 800 XL, unfortunately all stuff is on real 5.25" disks and my system does not work anymore. But I hope I can recover this.

  17. Anyone knows if these games are hacks , pirated or original games ?

These games were very common in Europe, I don´t know if there are NTSC versions.

    Thimo

  18. I´ve heard that someone is porting the ATARI ST classic to the ATARI 800 XL/XE and the C64.

Anyone seen a demo or found a website about this?

I´ve done simple Dungeon-Master like graphics myself, stolen from Eye of the Beholder on the AMIGA, but the task is not easy since this kind of 3D bitmap graphics needs lots of memory.

So I don´t believe it until I see it.

But a 3D realtime rpg on the ATARI would be great. The Spectrum and the C64 at least have Bloodwych. The ATARI 800 nothing.

  19. Aynone knows if there are PAL versions , at least prototypes of these games and other NTSC-only ATARI games?

I mean there was a lot of ATARI stuff in the Netherlands by 1994/95 and several guys had large qts. of ATARI stuff on several ATARI shows in Germany (in Hennef or in Neuss), maybe there was a small box with prototypes someone bought or which is still lying around in some warehouse, unnoticed.

There may even be entirely unknown PAL-prototape games, made in the early 90s for the European market.

Not only for the 2600, but also for the 7800 and the XEGS.

I think some research of PAL-prototypes in Europe and maybe australia would be a good idea.
