  1. Just a reminder that midnight tonight is the cut off for pre-orders.
  2. I made it pretty clear in the first post that I am not building JP21 compatible cables as I have no way to test them.
  3. Yes, I think I will do this.. I'll take it that if there are more than 6 wires soldered on, it must represent something other than composite!! Probably. Typical RGB scart cable consists of: Red Green Blue Sync (can be derived from either composite sync or composite video) Left Audio Right Audio Ground 5v to 12v(for switching aspect ratio and selecting composite video or RGB)
  4. You would have to open it up to verify. Just because the pins are there, doesn't mean anything is wired to them.
  5. Scart wired for RGB is superior in every way to s-video. Its the native video output of most of these late 80' and 90's consoles. S-video can be very nice. RGB is better. Some really cheap Scart cable are only wired for composite video rather than full RGB. And many Euro's TVs that have multiple Scart inputs only allow RGB on the first Scart input. Varies from TV to TV.
  6. What are updates are you looking for? So far there are about 7 S-video and 1 Scart cables pre-ordered. I am waiting on Albert to modify my first post so that I can keep it updated with who paid for what.
  7. Couple folks expressed interest in cables. Can we have a mod allow me to make edits to the first post so I can keep it updated? Thanks!
  8. This is the Pre-order thread. Previous info can be found here: http://www.atariage....b-scart-cables/ I will be running the Pre-order period through Midnight August 24th starting today. All cable orders must be paid in full prior to this cutoff. After which parts will be ordered and building will commence. I suspect I should be able to start delivering cables during the first couple weeks of September depending on how many are pre-ordered. Shouldn't be any hangups like last time. I am building these two cable types: 6ft long Svideo/Composite with stereo audio. Built with quality molded one piece cables. No tacky looking cut up standard A/V cables. 6ft long Euro Scart RGB cable with Stereo audio. Will NOT build it to the JP21 spec as I don't have an easy way to test it since I don't own anything that uses it. Just like the last cable build run, I will keep a tally in this post as to who has paid for what. Pricing: Stereo S-video/composite cable: $24 Scart Euro RGB cable: $30 Free shipping in the US. Outside US please contact me for a shipping quote. I accept Paypal only. Please make sure to include shipping info in your PM to me. Pre-order list 1. 2. 3.
  9. Hiya folks! I am checking for interest in another run of composite/s-video cables for the Jag and RGB Scart cables as well. For anyone interested, my last run of cables was here: http://www.atariage....-av-rgb-cables/ I am thinking of changing it up this time. Instead of the short, female connectors that allow you to plug in your own cables, I am thinking of building a more traditional 6 foot long cable with Stereo audio, Composite and S-video. Same kind of cable like would have been OEM. Second cable is a Stereo RGB Scart Cable with 6 foot cable on it. Good for folks that want to plug it into something like one of those Scart to Component adapters. No more combo cables with AV and RGB. One or the other. Tentative pricing: Stereo S-video/composite cable: $24 Scart RGB cable: $30 Thoughts?
  10. The XM29 can also work with just a composite sync plugged in the Horizontal input. That connection doubles as H sync or C sync. However, the XM29 does NOT like Composite video as sync. It wants true composite sync. Many monitors like most Sony PVM's and JVC broadcast monitors can use composite video as the sync. Most Scart cables if wired to the Euro Scart spec use Composite video as the sync signal.
  11. I still have 1 more of these available in the current batch. Can ship in a day or two.
  12. I built several of these cables for forum members over at Neo-Geo.com, so I thought I would check to see if anyone on AtariAge is interested. I have for sale several female Scart to 4 BNC adapters. They allow you to plug in a RGB Scart cable from your console into this cable and then plug in the 4 BNC connectors ( Red, Green, Blue and Composite Sync) to a Sony PVM monitor or a similar monitor (JVC broadcast type, NEC XM29 and etc). Also has a stereo audio breakout so you can plug in a regular pair of rca cables to run to your stereo or computer type speakers. It is wired Euro Scart NOT Japanese 21 pin RGB. I can't stress enough that this is for a 15Khz capable RGB monitor that can use Composite sync. This is a completely passive device. It has no resistors or capacitors in it. You need to make sure your Scart cable is built correctly for your machine. This just lets you interface a RGB scart cable with a compatible monitor. These are not going to work on regular VGA monitors that have BNC inputs. It must be a composite sync and 15KHz capable RGB monitor. Unless your monitor can handle composite video as sync (some can and some can't), you should make sure your Scart cable(s) is wired to composite sync for best compatibility. Otherwise you would need to install a sync stripper circuit in your scart cable to pull the sync out of the composite video. Each of these is built to order and approx. 2 feet long. Currently I have most parts on hand with a couple more on order. I did a run of Jaguar S-Video and RGB cables in the past (you can check the Jaguar forum), so I thought I would check to see if folks here was interested in this as well. Price is $26 shipped in the USA. I accept Paypal. Questions? Please ask here.
  13. haha now its mysteriously working
  14. Received the UDS-10 today!! Thanks for the quick shipping. Troubles though. Tried connecting via AnsiTerm and soon as I do atdt xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,23 I get NO CARRIER I know the device is on my network because I can ping it from another machine and even access the web based front end. Thoughts?
  15. I am not a fan of the GBS board for a couple reasons. Biggest one being that everything gets frame rate converted to 60hz. Play a euro game or demo, and it gets sampled up from 50 to 60hz. Kills smooth scrolling and results in jerky scrolling and movement. Depending on your intended use it can be fine, just keep in mind it only outputs 60hz and everything gets converted to that. And I agree with poobah, it looks better on a CRT.
  16. I guess this design uses the H+V syncs for the circuit?
  17. This is very similar to my experience. I had a 1040STf with a sharp picture and no ghosting. When accessing the floppy I would see some lines on the screen, but most likely the PSU needed to be replaced. I have owned multiple 520/1040 STe (NTSC and PAL) machines over the last couple years, and all of them suffer from this ghosted image issue. If you keep your contrast and brightness controls adjusted correctly, 90% of the time its not noticeable. Seems the video quality in these machines are kinda on the poor side. Would love to find a proper solution to this. Sometimes I wonder if the RF modulator is causing this. I would remove it, but I fear I would lose the composite video from the 13 pin din and I use that as sync for my RGB monitor.
  18. haha awesome. I want to telnet back into your BBS with an actual ST.
  19. I would be interested in one. I have a UK 520STe I can provide feedback on it from. Plus I have a couple LCD TV's that work fine with PAL signals.
  20. lol so the seller included the wrong psu? Want to sell one of those spare UDS10's?
  21. Didn't the MSS100 come with a psu? The listing on eBay said it did.
  22. Yeah, yeah I know Best has them but they want $40! Plus their website lists it and the newer version C301712 as the same part. The C301712 is the version with the crackling DMA audio which is why I want the C300588 shifter. Anyone with a spare one to sell? Also wouldn't mind a 4160STe case badge as well.
